If POS and sharding will be correctly implemented ETH will become the most scalable decentralized blockchain, so yes it could pass BTC market cap
It's ridiculous to overtake BTC in 2019. The exchange rate of the BTC is over $ 6000 while the ETH exchange rate is over $ 400. In 2019, if ETH surpasses the BTC, it is likely to exceed the demand of the investor and the market cap. It is impossible for ETH to pass the BTC, at least for the next 5 years.
While I agree when you say that ethereum is not going to surpass bitcoin anytime soon at the same time you are mistaken in the reasoning that you are using to say this is not going to happen, you are comparing the price of bitcoin with the price of ethereum when that is flawed comparison since both coins have very different currency supplies so the correct metric is the market cap of both coins. 
in my opinion, Ethereum remains behind Bitcoin. and will not pass to Bitcoin in 2019. This is still too early. Bitcoin is too high to reach by ethereum. while from another. Bitcoin is the King of Crypto currency. So another altcoin must remain under Bitcoin.

I never expected any other coin to beat bitcoin. Honestly, I feel worried, when this happens, maybe any cryptocurrency will be on the verge of collapse. Fortunately, this case will never be because in terms of price alone this difference is very far significant.
I think ethereum will be lucky to retain the number 2 spot in 2019 as there are many new up and coming projects that can push it further down the ranks. LISK is going to be easier to use and offer the same functionality, NEO has lots of support across East Asia and the rest of the world. I doubt it will dethrone bitcoin

No,never hehhehe because most ethereum use also Bitcoin convention to become peso or uero dollar etc.so, ethereum will imposible.
there is a much better chance that ETH will die in 2019 and disappear because a serious bug will be found in it that the hackers can take all the ETH in your wallet. or maybe another disaster like DAO happens and they try rolling back and fail. that is what happens to shitcoins every year.
completely illogical thing , if hackers can found such bug in ethereum to steal all coins then it can happen with bitcoin also .and for god sake there is nothing like this which can result in this scenario and if it happens then hackers will have ethereum with zero value because there will no buyer of ethereum . it can be dipped but not because of such lame reasons .
I don't think so, and it doesn't have to be, the uses are very different, ETH is more centralized and is being used for many projects and launches, BTC is the most decentralized currency there is, the most famous and the one that everyone is used to hear, it still has a lot of usefulness and if it keeps developing it will continue to be the king.

Never it will happen that other coin will surpass the Bitcoin price. And, in 2019 how it happens. If Ethereum goes up then why not the Bitcoin as Bitcoin is always a market leader and the blockchain idea has come here.
Yes I agree also it could not been happen in the year of 2019 but maybe after 5-10 years ETH will surpass BTC because of it's solid fundamentals because a lot of people right now still new to crypto world and they only knew BTC.
I really doubt that it will happen , and if we really see this happening it will only mean that bitcoin is going to come to an end, but it will not happen to be honest

yes, I agree with you in 2019 I think Bitcoin will still lead the market, Bitcoin prices are high enough so Ethereum still has to take a very long time to beat Bitcoin maybe 5 to 10 years into the future.

No. Because as you can see the different of their price is so far so it's hard to say eth will pass the bitcoin. And you know that eth is relying to bitcoin price so if bitcoin is down eth will down too.

Bitcoin will remain on the top. I think for now, no altcoin can surpass all the achievements and progress bitcoin have done. As you can see, ethereum network is having a lot of network traffic and it sometimes takes a lot of time for the system to sync. This needs to be fixed because the transaction price is too high.
Bitcoin is the first coin and is now the benchmark for all coins so I think it is very difficult to beat, I see the volume of Bitcoin trading in the market is still very high and now Bitcoin price is still very high so I think in 2019 Bitcoin will still lead.
