To know about the numbers it is not necessary to wait for the government to make the gamble illegal. There are many countries where the government banned bitcoins but people still play there. Check how many people are accessing gambling sites from those countries.

let's be honest here, I would still gamble, and the majority of gamblers will do the same, especially addicts, I would ignore that law but I have to be careful, I gble with just what I can afford do I know it's not harming me, but if things were too tight and the government started taking serious actions I might avoid it and stop gambling.

It would be indeed difficult for gambling addicts to stop gambling if the government puts a law against gambling. The only way these people will stop if a few of them are being punished for gambling and the rest will get some lessons from it. Otherwise, you cannot stop people from gambling when it is easy to access online gambling without disclosing your identity.

Caught some gamblers, give them severe punishment and this will create fear in the mind of gamblers and then people may not access gambling. That's the only way i see to have a control on gambling.

Intelligent gamblers may still use VPN and play at non kyc casinos and may never get caught. However, I agree with you that it is impossible to stop gamblers from gambling. The addiction is so strong that they will continue to gamble and take whatever risks they can but they won't leave gambling.

Governments can also ban some websites, but it is possible to access banned sites through VPN. The same goes for online casinos. Although governments want to ban them, users will try to reach them somehow. Such prohibitions only work for a short time. Once people find a way to circumvent the bans, they don't make any sense. If the government bans online casinos, I guess I'll look for a way to circumvent the ban.

People may still play gambling even though there is a ban from the government because they have been gambling for too long and can't stop immediately.

If the law was not giving disadvantage to the gamblers and you can ignore it but it the law will able to make you being jailed and then you must be careful. The implementation law for gambling is different in any territorial. The only problem is when government become even stricter with gambling from time to the another time. The addiction being considered seriously by the government. that's why some government has been implementing some ban to the gambling.
I think that this depends on the situation in any countries. The fact that any countries have different perspective about gambling.

Like medicine to the body so is gambling to a core gambler. Someone like me there could only be some limits at the rate to which I go on gambling due to the restrictions but the law doesn't stand a chance in stopping me completely from gamblers as long as online gambling sites exist.
Anything that gives me fun and expectations for profit am not sure I'll abandon it for sake of any law as long as am not causing harm to my next neighbor..

Do not forget that there is always a consequences for every action we take whether it is a positive one or negative. Going against the law cam be so easy for us but if we are eventually caught, we might regret our actions and pay with severe loses. I think I will have to respect myself and stick to the law although it will not be that easy for me to leave gambling like that but everything takes time and how our might is prepared.
There are other forms whereby we can get things done without breaking the law in an obvious way but all depends on how we see everything about gambling.

I don't want to violate the laws in any way so my take will be changing the mind and go for other entertainment options or fight legally to bring back with valid reason why it shouldn't be banned in your country.

And you have wrong thoughts about online casinos, every legal casinos will not allow people from banned country in their casinos and you can clearly see which country residents are restricted from using their services in their terms of service. There are illegal gambling activities that are prohibited in my country, there are also spots location for physical gamblers that are continuously surveyed as often used to do gambling not permitted by governments but there are casino that legally operates. When it comes in online gambling if the government is not yet that advanced it will not detect online gambling websites unless it is reported or get too hyped that many users became addicted into it. Detecting online activities in my country is still not too wide that many are still able to play online any games they want.
