I live in a country where gambling laws and regulations are illegal, many cukong/gambling addicts are caught and imprisoned, but the government only makes laws, gambling is illegal if caught in law and in prison, If.

The fact: they are not too serious about the rules, the proof is that online gambling sites can be accessed anytime and easily, to be honest I still gamble even though the state law says so, it doesn't mean I'm against the law, but gambling sites can actually be accessed online without the government's knowledge, there are exceptions if the government is serious about the law and the gambling site is closed, of course I have to stop it.

But the law is still the law, online gambling sites can still be accessed, of course I keep playing.

I think I will comply with the new law and even though it's tough for me, I don't want to get caught breaking the rules. But will that also apply to online casinos where we can find online casino sites easily? In addition, maybe its citizens can still visit the casino site by using an IP from their country or a VPN later because there may still be some online casinos that allow users from that country. And hopefully, the new regulation can allow users to play gambling at online casinos because online casinos are not bound by legal cooperation with that country. That will enable gamblers from that country to continue to gamble but with responsibility so that they will not get into trouble later.

The problem come in when your country ban gambling and the casino adds your country to the restricted list, then you will have to access that casino via a VPN and if the casino find out that you are bypassing their control measures, they might not pay out your winnings when you want to withdraw.

The casinos will not look into your "secret" ....until you hit something big and you want to withdraw.... then they will ask for KYC verification and when they check that, they will see you are from a restricted country and they will not payout the winnings. There is always a way for the gambler to continue to channel his passion even though the state has banned it. The state is only limited to issuing prohibitions, the community remains in principle.

Personally, I won't break the law just to satisfy my urge to gamble. Even if I turn to gamble whenever I seek entertainment, I know that it isn't permanent and there will come a time wherein I have to let go of it. I would rather sacrifice my happiness than to face charges for not abiding by the law. There are still other ways to feel entertained. Yes, I'm a law-abiding citizen and I believe that discipline and self-control are too important for us to live life comfortably.

Before online gambling was a thing, our community in our country prohibits playing cards on houses. Gambling is illegal but that does not stop gamblers from finding ways to do it. And officials will sometimes do some raids to discourage gamblers from gambling. For some time, gamblers will stop but they are just laying low. After a while, they are back doing it.

Now that we have online gambling, it is easier to go gambling and you can easily hide it also. Even if the government tries, it will not be able to stop it. That is why we have casinos so at least they get taxes from it.

A law abiding citizen even if he's got the addiction, I think he'll have hard time resisting his addiction and eventually will have to gamble.
But if you're a real law abiding citizen and is scared of the punishment of the government then even if you're addicted to gambling but the more prevailing thought is that you want to follow your government rules over gambling then you'll abide by the law.

There are lots of online casinos out there so any government who will decide to ban gambling is only limiting the revenue the state will generate. If banning gambling happens in my country the way out is simply switch to online decentralise casinos where i fund with crypto and withdraw in the same manner. I can't trade my fun for any law against gambling.

This is interesting, in my country gambling is something that goes against the norms of belief and applicable laws.
There are several legal consequences for those found to be involved in gambling activities. I do not recommend that you ignore the regulations in your country.
However, on the other hand, the prohibition of gambling will not necessarily stop people from obeying the rules.
I don't think a country's gambling ban regulations will be effective at all, as is the case in our country, for example. Gambling in my country is controversial, some are pro to legalize it, some are always associated with belief norms.

but for sure, personally, gambling is a matter of one's privacy, as long as it doesn't harm people, it's all fine.

It happens in our country I used to bet on online cockfighting until the many irregularities and killings that happens and our government banned it, I support the ban but if they will totally ban gambling which I doubt our government can because they need taxes coming from casinos and lotteries, I will support a ban on gambling that are harmful to people but not other online gambling that is offshore, you just can't kill your desire to gamble when its already part of your life, sites like Stake, Duelbits are not harmful as long as you moderate how you play on these casinos.

Assuming my country banned gambling but the Casino does not restrict my country from playing on their site. I think I will carry on with my gambling activity. I can always use a VPN to hide my gambling activity from the watchful eyes of the government. The government need to contact gambling casinos to restrict our country's to access their service, else the government's ban on gambling is half-baked and they are not serious about it.

Gamblers will gamble even if they are banned by law and it is well seen in countries that already have such laws in place.
People have been gambling since ancient times and it is not as easy to give it up as it may seem. No law can stop gambling as long as we have the means to hide our identity. And even if we can't play online games we can always find gamblers to play poker or other games on the street or in the apartment.

Since when has the government declaration of an activity as illegal dissuaded people from being involved in them. Although the government declaring gambling as an illegal activity will affect the number of people in it it will not entirely discourage everyone as currently there are even some illegal activities that people still indulge in regardless of the penalty.

I'll do that no government should stop me from playing I'm paying my taxes and a law-abiding citizen, I'll stop going into physical casinos or underground casinos but will I will not stop playing online, it's my money and I work for it, you don't just turn away from something you enjoy doing all these years because moderate gambling is not harmful to the society, what the government should focus on are graft and corruption and the rising inflation not what ordinary people enjoy doing, so I'll keep on playing secretly.

AFAIK, there are people that even they're in a country that has banned gambling, they still access it through VPNs and that's no problem to them.
They won't be caught and even if they don't use VPN, the casinos are already blocked and I think that's their reason that no one can stop them for having fun.
Well, the decision will be on you on how you're going to handle things and what would be your mindset since you've made a situation on your own. But if I'm on the place, I don't know what to do yet or I'll wait for the others on how they'll gamble or if they'll just forget about gambling.

No intervention or with by government gamblers will still be a gambler since they will find ways how to satisfy their self especially if they used to play on their vacant times.

But we cannot assure that we will continue to play forever since for sure each one of us will have realization on something or maybe change on priorities so its expected for anyone to quit for some reasons they encounter.

Our government can't monitor all its citizens, they can only close shops, bookies, and casinos but when you're in the comfort of your room, they can't spy on you so you can still play online and make a bet, I just make sure I keep it secret and will not tell my gambling online even to my best friend when it comes online, there's a lot of benefits for gamblers because you're government can only do so much and will not spend time and manpower to catch online gamblers.
