Luckily the balance was low or even zero (I don't remember and I can't even check now because it's locked). They also blocked the card immediately.  Angry

This is ....I really can't find the right word for it.
Fortunately, my balance is only 15 euros and ~5mbtc right now but I'm seriously thinking of spending all in a store tomorrow and be done with it.

Not because they blocked your card as I assume they do this with tens if not hundreds a day but because of two things
- blocking people from viewing they balance, what harm would that cause, they've disabled transfers, so they should have left that open at least for a week or so
- the way they wrote that email...

Wow, quite strange...
At least did they allow you withdraw the funds you had in your account/card, or just locked everything?

Best regards,
Wirex Review Team

I used their card for about 1.5 years and I haven't done anything illegal (money laundering etc) also there were no new types of transactions lately (like to/from a specific country they might not like etc... so guys think twice befire signing up because similar thing could happen to you any day. And if you've bought their WXT or whatever token what is going to happen to those? (luckily I didn't have any). Really disappointed....  Angry Angry Angry

I mean if I buy just enough WXT for let's say 1% back and the worth of WXT drops, will I lose my rewards and have to buy more of them or it's forever Smiley ?

No, what matter is the amount of WXT you hold, if it is above 50k,100k or 250k and not their overall value.
https://wirexapp.com/wirex-token

but if it goes to zero....even wirex card owners who don't have a single token, like me for example, should leave less and less money in their balance. Grin

Are the crypto rewards for holding WXT tied to amount of WXT held in their wallet or WXT worth in Euros? I mean if I buy just enough WXT for let's say 1% back and the worth of WXT drops, will I lose my rewards and have to buy more of them or it's forever Smiley ?

Also, they should check their facebook page more often if they do use it as a communication method, 4 hours and this is still on?

Jesus Christ, that shit gets everywhere. I've reached the stage where that's so prevalent I barely see it any more and anyone who falls for it has what's coming to them.

Support got back to me fairly rapidly about the sluggish app. Their suggestions were to clear the cache and reinstall as if that hadn't occurred to me. It's now on its third or fourth update since this started and it's no better than it was.

Also in the UK at least they've now introduced phone based 2FA for every online card transaction so make sure you're in an area with some lovely signal otherwise you can't play.

I was in the middle of nowhere when I got that alert from the app and I still had 2g coverage so that might not be a problem. But in the morning I did use my wirex card to buy some train tickets and nothing changed, no sms no password no nothing just hit pay and the transaction was confirmed in seconds.

As for the app, the transaction that is shown as being the last is from June 11, after a few minutes it loads the previous ones.

Also, they should check their facebook page more often if they do use it as a communication method, 4 hours and this is still on?

Well, it's for online transactions  Cheesy

Many of us in more primitive places get plenty of wifi but no phone signal. I often have to insert it in my forehead and jump up and down to have any hope of receiving a text message about 1-2 hours later which has of course expired.

Is anyone else finding the app quite stunningly sluggish since the last couple of updates? It takes about 3-5 minutes to get any info up.

I do have a ticked opened about the fact most of the time I see transactions from months ago, the new ones loading late or not at all.
Maybe more such tickets would make them ... do something?

I get a bad feeling every time this topic is getting bumped  Cry

I received a notification in my Wirex app that I needed to reverify my location.

Are you using your card a lot while out of the country or only for atm withdrawals, something that might raise suspicion and cause this?
They never asked me for a proof of me living at the address my ID shows, not even at sign-up so I'm wondering if I should have one of them ready if they make this mandatory.

That aside, I got like 3 or 4 notifications about some change in the T&C, unfortunately, I wasn't able to find out what those new additions or modified terms, anyone has a clue? Also, browsing through the T&C trying to find them I saw this on the restricted usage :

I received a notification in my Wirex app that I needed to reverify my location. I submitted a photo of my address on a utility bill (didn't take a photo of the entire bill). After ~20 minutes I received an email that my verification was denied and that I needed to submit a photo of the entire bill. I sent them a new photo and 10 minutes later I received a notification that the verification passed. I had a few minor issues with Wirex in the past but everything was handled pretty fast by their support team.

As soon as they reduced ATM limits to very low and started to restrict other activities, I stopped using wirex. I think it would be OK if you need low volume, occasional use debit card with superficial bank account attached, but their fees are too high and restrictions too much for anything else. As far as I know they are the best available as far as crypto debit card. Or at least it was when I registered. It's a pity because it has potential. Too high fees and restrictions ruin it. The card looks great though.

and lacking communication

Something seems to have happened lately. I had a problem with my card last week (caused by a 3rd party bank, I'll write the story one of these days) and the support was very quick in helping me out. I was genuinely surprised.
Well, one of the things was that I also got a temporary lock on the card (for safety). And this week, when I should get the card unlocked the support ignores me.

PS. If you lack alternatives, my post history may help.

I tried to verify an account with them, provided all the required documents but they are refusing to open it citing some not better specified "business decisions". Requests for further explanations were in vain.

I cannot think of any legitimate reason for such behavior and from my past experience (Neteller) this kind of obscure decision making and lacking communication is a big red flag: usually will result in money lost on your side sooner or later (Neteller locked my account without any explanation with an € 4000 wire still going their way. Result: I never got my money back despite months of mail exchanges and it's probably not worth the costs to go the legal route).

I'd advise you look for one of the many better alternatives or be very careful with them, never entrusting them with too much money.

Please let us know if you solve your issue since. Too many here don't update their post once the issue is solved. Hope it was for you bro.

Managed to solve the ID problem, but my money is still missing. They offered to open a dispute with the bank, but said that if I was in the wrong ( and they somehow pushed the message as if I was in the wrong ) I'd owe them 20 something euros in administrative fees.
Oh OK, that sucks bro.
Since I opened an account with Wirex I did only one bank transfer which worked, but a friend of mine also had money stuck somewhere between Wirex and another bank account. Since then I avoid this service.

Then I get an email saying that I actually need to submit the proof I submitted before for proof of address. But the POA they accepted before was my national ID. And they say I can't use that, because I used it to reverify my proof of identity. They are fucking dead brain morons. They should bring back the live chat, cause they're nothing short of incompetent.

Seeing that you're from Romania, what will you do if they ask you for a scan of the front and the BACK of your id?
Maybe I'm wrong but that's the only id with a blank back in the whole EU.
I know some guy was complaining a week ago he can't pass a KYC because he can't scan the back of his card!

If it helps at all, I think that I used the drivers' license for proof of identity. Both sides. And I'm from RO too.
And for proof of location I used a bank statement.
Both were accepted easily.

But that was long ago and I didn't have verification issues since.

BTW, I've used Wirex card big time in Greece and it worked well. It's just annoying that after conversion I have to move the EUR from account to card (I seem to forget to do that at times).

I have a hard time deciding if Wirex sucks or if just their support staff is comprised entirely of fucking idiots.

Because of a Wirex glitch, they lost my money when I had a failed Revolut top up. Wirex keep blaming Revolut but Revolut never got my money in their accounts. I must've told this 5 times to the moron responding to my emails. I told her to let me talk to her manager or senior or whatever and she keeps responding. This issue hasn't been resolved and it's been weeks.

And NOW my Wirex account isn't even working because they're asking for proof of address... again. I say ok, fine, I'll upload a bank statement from TODAY, because that's one of the options available: a bank statement no older than 3 months. Then I get an email saying that I actually need to submit the proof I submitted before for proof of address. But the POA they accepted before was my national ID. And they say I can't use that, because I used it to reverify my proof of identity. They are fucking dead brain morons.
