Something fishy I going on. I've used wirex for 1.5 years now and have verified and reverified a couple times. They asked again and I provided documents, then my account got closed, reason withheld for security purposes... It's taking a very long time to withdraw the 0.29 BTC I had in there... I was naive to build trust but so far they never stole from me. Seems I might lose big time for my stupidity. Where do I turn for legal action? I have proof I sent to my wirex Bitcoin address, I can't access the wirex account but it's in their registry. Seems these corona times lead to losses which they decide to make up with customers funds?!

The reason for them asking about docs probably is triggered by something else, suspicious bitcoin deposits, suspicious payments flagged by really bad calibrated filters or something else.

Quite unlikely, since Bitcoin is quite low I didn't top up the card for some months and obviously I didn't use it much also.
But indeed, I can't rule out anything.

[I've already argued with them when they've asked again for ID, weeks ago. Now they ask about address documents.

I have got my card last year and for more then a half year they do not accept my address documents which I have send xx times and variations.
I have loadet the card with LTC but now I want it back and do no more business with this company because of incompetence.
How can I get my LTC back?

Ask the support to escalate the ticket I can't say I have had many issues with Wirex and the support are normally very good.

Best bet is to message asking to have your issue escalated to a team leader or management.

Since their Android app still tries to download the 2018 data (until it fails) instead of just getting at least the useful data (in reverse order by date) so the user can see what's most interesting... don't be surprised of anything, okay?  Wink

Just because a system is badly designed and is implemented just as bad, it doesn't mean you have to start everything from scratch just because of the Brexit. If they would have to rebuild manually all their database again with everybody's info it also would mean they can't report anything if VISA or any financial/tax services would subpoena them.

Yeah, the app is crap, it lags, I have to close the app after I make an exchange because if I let the app open it will never allow me to deposit the amount on card, I can't send funds from my BTC address to bc1 addresses but somehow it still works.

The reason for them asking about docs probably is triggered by something else, suspicious bitcoin deposits, suspicious payments flagged by really bad calibrated filters or something else. Btw, I haven't received anything from them and I did use the card outside my country and I even funded it once from a chipmixer deposit (don't ask what was in my head at that time), so dunno what their plan is...

I have loadet the card with LTC but now I want it back and do no more business with this company because of incompetence.
How can I get my LTC back?

So they don't allow you to withdraw the coins or spend the funds on the card?
Well, unfortunately, nothing we can help you with, just contact them over and over again...

It may be of interest: Wirex started to ask again for verification documents for old/already verified accounts.

Well, if they ask I will send them the old documents again...
And they can do whatever they want with them because although the pictures are genuine and still has a valid date the id is void, I've lost them 2 months ago and got a replacement, new number new expiry date, new ...and 15+ kilo me in the pic...

Anyhow, I ave only ~30 euros on them, the last purchase in-store was in February, probably if they piss me off too much with the verification I will send a big Elmo card with a fword and be done with it.

It could be Brexit related, they had their data in one bucket and now they have to separate UK and EU somehow.

The reality is that they're doing it rather unprofessional (but there's nothing new under the sun).

Now, that's real  Grin

Of course this is speculation. The reality is that they're doing it rather unprofessional (but there's nothing new under the sun).

I guess it's conceivable but all Google have done is shunt the existing info to a different place. No need to renew it or ask for anything. All they did is inform us it was happening. If that's what they're doing then it's good enough for everyone else.

My Kraken verification is about six years old now. They've never asked for anything more. Same for Coinbase.

I'll see if they do the same to me and ponder what to do. The app still takes several minutes to use so I might use it as an excuse to bin it for good.

I do not have a great deal of tolerance for it.

I don't mean to warn the scammers, but sometimes this can fail. So there's one more reason to not keep big money there and keep one more card at hand.

Revolut have done this too. I emptied my Revolut account and deleted the app. They never gave me warm feelings in the first place.

I keep my Wirex account on a tight leash so if they sprung anything on me I wouldn't be in the lurch. I'd like to know the thinking behind it. I do not have a great deal of tolerance for it.

It's back in action on Google play if anyone's interested. The update is dated January 20th or something so I've no idea what's going on there. Whether it's smooth sailing from now on or not I cannot see someone like Coinbase ever allowing this to happen. Take note.

Anyone else noticed Wirex is no longer on Google Play? It's not showing up in my installed apps or library on there either. Still on the phone and tries to work when it can be bothered.

Is this a blip that comes and goes? I'm not sure I've noticed it with anything else installed on my phone. The app still takes a full 2-3 minutes before it's usable so perhaps they've run out of coal and favour with Google.

Yep, i was wondering this myself when tried to install stuff on my new phone. I asked them over the twitter but got no answer, now i have to use my account with a web browser like an animal and that's far from optimal.

Could be the version of the OS on your device.

I noticed I could not get the app on the old Ipad IOS but it's available on the later IOS versions I think there apps are no longer supporting older versions of OS' for both apple and android devices.
*snip*

I got newest oxygen os 10.0.6 so i don't think that an old version is the problem.

No, sir.

My phone is pretty ancient but it's not on the google play website at the moment either. I'll see if it's back in a few days.

I don't trust any of these app/card 'banks' including Revolut. You see people in consumer moaning columns running their lives through them suddenly getting cut off completely and when it goes wrong you have one phone line that'll never get you to a real human. They're strictly toys for very occasional, and very low value, convenience as far as I'm concerned. I'll never go further with any of them.

I think I've got £24 on Wirex and £5.50 on Revolut. That feels about right.

Had some issues with Wirex in the past when the wavecrest issue blocked everyone's cards without warning and was left with no way to access funds stored on the cards for quite some time.
And talking with support staff can be like banging your head off a brick wall very little progress with issues when they arise even with detailed info being sent to them I think they need better support staff on there team's.

Recently I cannot fault the system it works well and I have used there bank transfer system into wirex I took about 2 hours for a faster payment to arrive in the account and around the same time for one from wirex to bank took about the same but both were working.

I hope wirex can continue to grow as it's a popular way to spend your coins and bank small amounts of coin's for quick access,  I would be worried about storing large amounts on the system platform but I suppose if they have the e-money licence they should be covered by the UK banking guarantee up tom 75k if memory serves me right.   Might ask some questions about this to them and report back.

I won't.

As long as it's cheaper and the app actually works I'm willing to sound it out. The shitcoin is stupid indeed but you don't need that any more. I certainly won't be utilising anything else they offer and won't be putting anything other than chump change through it.

I'm going to give the crypto.com card a whirl.

I won't.
Ico, staking some shitoken with no real utility to gain better rates and limits..?
We already have all this with wirex! D'oh!

Oh and the lending at crypto.com....my god, I've seen Russian loan sharks with better rates than that.
ps
Moderated topic? Neah, as shitty as it is I'll stay with wirex ...probably till my 4.7 euros I still have in balance will be eaten by fees.

All the enthusiasm for trying a new thing is gone, I'm just keeping it as an easy to fund back-up payment method but nothing more.

I'm going to give the crypto.com card a whirl. That's if it ever arrives as people seem to be saying it takes forever. Not sure what the fees are but my mystery Wirex app sluggishness is really getting on my tits now. Maybe there's a magnetic field in this valley that sucks internet time away.

To me that means either:

A. They've given up the app for some reason or,
B. They've made a new app or overhauled the old one so much that the new update needs to be approved

C - they've f*^* up something?

Hi there, the team is aware and working on it as we speak. Thank you and have a great day.

The app works fine, but I haven't used the card in two weeks.

B is more likely I believe? Drop them a line and see what they say. I still see it on iOS
