I forgot about this,I wanted to post an update as I got verified at last and I have to say that support was pretty helpful and prompt with wirex.
So this happened, first with one bill, with a second, then tried again with a better camera, as I thought it was blurry and then decided to skip their automatic systems and to contact them as I kept getting error after error about wrong address. All the documents got rejected because my address in my account was typed wrong, the number of the street was mismatched with the building number and an extra letter, god knows how that ended up there, and yet I still got the cards in time and none was lost.
Nice to see them replying to me pretty fast (a few hours) and more importantly pointing clearly where the mistake was and dealing with the issue perfectly reasonable.
As for the Mastercard deal, when I read about it on their page something else caught my attention:
The Mastercard announcement marks the start of a new phase at Wirex that will revolutionise the fintech and cryptocurrency spaces. Later this year, we are planning to launch a next-generation of Wirex card for customers in the EEA region, with game-changing features including additional currencies, free international ATM withdrawals, sky-high limits and next-to-no fees, that will ensure it has a significant advantage over our competitors, some of which will be assisted with our burgeoning relationship with Mastercard.
But I have a feeling it doesn't mean getting read of the fx fees unfortunately
