I pay taxes because I want children to be educated, hospital to work, road to be in working state, science to progress
Yea because there is no way any of those things would happen without armed maniacs in blue costumes running around taking peoples stuff.
To be honest, there is no way those things would happen without a government. Companies are only involved in things in which they can reap sustainable profit. That's why there are so few private schools compared to public(government owned) schools.
If we left it up to companies and our fellow brethen to do things like build roads, builds schools, build hosptials etc, then nothing would get done because in our capitalistic society(frankly any type of society as well), people are motivated by Money and greed, with all companies trying to gain the highest amount of profit at the cost of others( look at wal-mart outsourcing jobs to sweatjobs in china, same with apple etc etc)
That's why we need a government to do the things that no one else will, and I'm very thankful for having one that does so.(the u.s gov)
