Monero (XMR) - secure, private, untraceable
I wonder why poloniex still says it's just 10.
You should ask them on this one. Maybe their daemon is stuck and they need to restart it or something else. Try in the trolbox or send them a ticket.

Need your opinion, community members... I've just thought about kickstarter,

https://www.kickstarter.com/

Is their politics compatible with Monero goals particulary and crypto-currencies in general?
...
after this one:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/324283889/potato-salad?ref=nav_search

(since kickstarter's politics had been changed indeed, that's why potato salad became possible at kickstarter)

what about Monero @ kickstarter?

Putting a crypto on kickstarter seems like a good idea, lots of exposure to people who have lots of time/money to spend and wouldn't necessarily know anything about crypto to begin with so this would be their first exposure.  It'd be good publicity depending on rewards offered, like what kind of reward levels and prizes?  I don't see why a crypto wouldn't be compatible with their politics if it's spun right.

^By the block height: current_block_height - transaction_included_in_block_height + 1 = confirmations_till_now
This one?

So 124074 - 123971 + 1 = 104 confirmations?

I wonder why poloniex still says it's just 10.

Thus far we have received well under 1 BTC in donations, a trivial amount. That means that all of our time and energy and effort is completely self-funded.

I think Risto should delve into his huge BTC fortune - seeing as he was one of the first Hero Members to publically back Monero, i find it worrying that he has not made a donation.

First of all singling one person out is completely unfair just because they are a public figure and you know their general fortune means nothing, everyone should donate a little something to the devs, I have done so now that I know funds are required but I expect to see more work in general for it if funds are being given.

Its not worrying really, the last couple of days has been the first time I personally have seen the dev team saying that donations/dev funds are a barrier to getting stuff done in a timely manner so its not surprising that generally people haven't donated. Dont ask you dont get and all that. Lets not forget that we raised over 11btc to get on mintpal so topping up the dev fund should be an easy group effort. I would also advise that donations be made in BTC.

^Yes. Currently the exchanges generate a Payment ID to distinguish your deposit from someone else deposit and all the funds from all the users are deposited to a single stealth address.

Edit: It's in the FAQ: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/closed-unofficial-xmr-community-monero-faq-thread-686086
Ok thanks.

The pending deposit already appeared on poloniex... It took almost 2hrs to appear there and it's still pending...
Seems like they require 18 confirmations..
How do I check how many confirmations it already has from http://monerochain.info/?

There is 1 block a minute so theoretically 18 mins, as I said up thread it has alot to do with inside Polo not the XMR protocol.
Ok thanks

I did include the payment id.
Mintpal says successful:

My poloniex account still hasn't receive the 1xmr I sent.
Deposit address: 47sghzufGhJJDQEbScMCwVBimTuq6L5JiRixD8VeGbpjCTA12noXmi4ZyBZLc99e66NtnKff34fHsGR oyZk3ES1s1V4QVcB
Payment ID: 57e90967b8579140d91074bb6ca64e6f0d3e6a11e822a575a91c884e6972876d

I checked 57e90967b8579140d91074bb6ca64e6f0d3e6a11e822a575a91c884e6972876d at http://monerochain.info/
and I see "Amount (XMR)   9.990000000000".. Is that my XMR account balance? I never sent anything yet except for the 1xmr I sent a while ago

The blockchain won't show the real amount sent, because of the privacy XMR provide.
So this "Amount (XMR)   9.990000000000" is just some random number?
What is this payment ID? Is it like a bitcoin address? The Deposit address doesn't seem uniquely assigned to me...

Difficulty is already adjusted for different block time, so no need to discount on it. This makes XMR a more profitable target for botnet owners. And yesterday when I did the same calculations, XMR price was higher, BCN difficulty 20M lower. That is why it was 10% higher for XMR.

No you have that exactly wrong. Difficulty tells you how many hashes you have to do (on average) for each block (not per day -- your formula is fundamentally incorrect).

Go back and recalculate with difficulty correctly applied per block and you will get different (correct) results.

Ok, let's do it again:

Block reward:
BCN: 110,000
XMR: 15.6

Difficulty:
BCN: 114,000,000
XMR: 800,000,000

Price:
BCN: 0.00000008
XMR: 0.00294

Block reward adjusted for difficulty = (Block reward / Difficulty) * Price
BCN: 0.0000000000771929824561
XMR: 0.0000000000573300000000

Blocks per day:
BCN: 720
XMR: 1440

Daily emission adjusted for difficulty = block reward adjusted for difficulty * blocks per day:
BCN: 0.0000000555789
XMR: 0.0000000825552

Again, XMR is way more profitable for botnet owners and that is exactly what I've been trying to tell you with the previous calcs, but they were inaccurate as I've taken rough daily emission and might have made a mistake with the estimate.

I did some quick calculations earlier and also saw that BCN is more profitable.

My formula is [your HR]/[network HR]*[blocks per day]*[block reward]*[price in BTC]

This will give you BTC/day for your crypto of choice. When I did my calculations earlier I was getting ~20% more BTC/day for BCN vs XMR for the same hashrate.

Ok, maybe I fucked up somewhere. Under your calculations (and assuming you have 1 hash/s) BCN is more profitable than XMR:

BCN: 0.0000068129
XMR: 0.0000049657

However, if you move even a 700 KH/s botnet from XMR to BCN it starts to be unprofitable, which is why there might be no botnets in BCN:

BCN': 0.0000038871
XMR: 0.0000039786

And don't forget that XMR emits 66 BTC per day, while BCN only has 6 BCN emission volume per day (based on current prices). It's more sensible for large botnets to fight for a larger pie.

Meanwhile, all the monero nation! Let us donate to Monero dev team! Call to do that all the pool operators, exchange owners, etc.!!!
It's our shame, that Monero's daily volume is the biggest among exchanges, but dev team received just under 1 BTC!

You are perfectly right, it's a shame.

Just donated 25 XMR and will add more as my holdings grow.

Come on fellow hodlers, you know it's a good investment!

calc xmr for 1000hash
0,0029*(15,6*(1/(802380253/1000/60/60/24)))
calc bcn for 1000hash
0,00000008*(102599*(1/(120000000/1000/60/60/24)))
bcn is more profitable
