Apart from the gambling budget it is also important to allocate a limited amount of time for your gambling activities. By setting a time limit, you can ensure that you don't spend excessive amounts of time gambling and prioritize other important aspects of your life.

Also Avoid chasing losses cause it is the beginning stage of getting addicted to gambling and Don't Use Gambling as an Escape from any of your problems especially when it related to your financial status.

I definitely agree with this suggestion.

Gambling is an entertainment activity where a person finds joy in feeling such adrenaline. By viewing it only as a mere entertainment, this would negate the effect of being addicted to it if only limited time was given and catered to this act. In addition, this would also make you feel less-invested, thereby decreasing the effect of you totally getting addicted to it.

I just really hope that if a person really wants to quit gambling, then he should commit to it. If he feels half motivated to do it, the chances of you recovering and gambling again would be much higher.

OP it is generally known that gamblers should learn to gamble responsibly. As a gambler, one must define their interest and goal in gambling and then they would know what to do while In the course of gambling.
Gambling addiction sometimes I feel is an act of desperation by some gamblers while gambling and only they themselves can be able to subdue it and all it takes is one being disciplined while gambling.

Before going out for gambling one should be able to budget some certain amount for which they would gamble with wether winning or making loss, one should be able to have self restraint and control so as not to go beyond their budget limit and when it seems as if you can not resist it, take a break and make a call talking to a loved one as OP has said so as to encourage you to leave there immediately.

Now, if you still want to gamble but you don't want to become addicted to it, one of the things you should do in my opinion is:

1. Only set aside an amount of money that you will use to gamble in a casino.
2. Don't think that you will gamble to make money, because if you do that, you will surely have a problem later.
3. Just spend a few hours staying in a casino to gamble so you can avoid what you don't realize is wasting time that you should be spending on important things instead of gambling.

This is easier said than done you have to experience the highs and lows of gambling like chasing losses winning huge and losing it, then you will then realize that you have to take control or you will bust yourself.

When it comes to gambling, experience is the best teacher you can read all these pieces of advice on how not to be addicted to gambling but if you do not reach your limitation or experienced what it's like to lose everything or almost everything you cannot grasp the meaning of that advice, every gamble I've known have experience chasing their losses, that is why they say don't chase your losses they really mean it.

Gamble to make money is normal, and 99% gamblers do gamble to make money, no one can deny about this fact.
It is BS if there are gamblers who say that they do gamble JUST for FUN without any intention to make money.

Yes, it is very difficult for someone to say that gambling is for fun only. Because basically most of them want to be able to get money. Even I myself find it difficult to say for fun at the beginning when i was lose.

However, based on the data released by gamblingcommission.gov.uk, 78% of respondents said that gambling is for fun. This data was taken from a survey of young gamblers aged 11-16 years. Do you believe their response if gambling for fun or they are just follow people who says "gambling for fun only?" since the respondents was very young

Stats can be read from here: https://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/report/young-people-and-gambling-2022

If the website made a survey and came up with the respondents figure between the age of 11-16 years to say that gambling is for fun, I don't agree with the survey on that aspect because I know that majority of gamblers do that to make ends meet. They are playing and betting as well to increase the finance they have. Moreover, these respondents are underaged who are not allowed to bet so how come they were used for the survey. They are still under the tutelage of their parents and how come they were able to solicit for their response. The young people barely knows what gambling is and their response can't be taken as fact, they are not faced with financial issues, no wife or children, no financial obligations or commitment so how would they give a response to what challenges they have not witnessed.

They may be gambling in secret, perhaps that could inform their response

The group that did such survey with underaged gamblers are guilty of that and are suppose to be fined under the gambling regulation law.

Things we must do to stop gambling according to experts:
Whatever you say about gambling or individuals, generally known by gambling players, unfortunately none of that cares about that, the three suggestions that you mentioned, are true but no one can do it, what's more in terms of money, you know the world of gambling is like we enter the world of hypnosis, if you want to stop gambling the main thing you have to do is: you have to get out of the world of hypnosis, that's the only way so you can stop gambling.

If you still hang out with friends who gamble or still live in mixed things such as: internet, money, gambling environment, unemployment, want to get rich quick, greed, some of the things you mentioned are impossible to do.

99% know this, in fact 99% are unable to do that, believe it or not, just prove it to yourself.

I gambled for a long time and never got addicted to it, never overspent, while some of the people I knew got the hook deep inside them.
After a while I came into a conclusion that it's because I do it for fun and never set goals for myself.

If I were to give you some advice, it would be a little different than OP's, but his advice is for addicts, while I can give you some hints how to stay sane and control yourself.
Consider money wired or taken to a casino lost.
Don't set yourself goals, like the one that you will withdraw if you double the money.
After each big win, withdraw part of the money.
Gamble with friends and try to have fun. It's easier to cope with a loss when you're not alone.

I think Panjul07 point is no one playing just for fun alone but having profit to get some fun since you can only have fun on gambling if you are winning. There’s a demo mode on every gambling for user to try the casino games without risking money, If user really believe that he just want fun and not profit then he should only play the demo mode of the game.

I’m one of the gambler that looking for profit on my game because that’s what makes me happy on gambling. Risking money on a game is what makes gambling special compared to ordinary games that doesn’t involved money. I think handling addiction is case to case basis.

Things we must do to stop gambling according to experts:

1. Recognize the problem
2. Remove the stigma

4. Seek professional health

As usual these kinds of things are easy to say and very difficult to implement, there have been many written strategies for managing gambling attitudes, and I think almost everyone knows about this but it is very difficult for them to implement it, because if it is entered into gambling that has a lot of wins will change the stigma that you have guarded so far, if our mentality is not strong when we see a very large multiplier and double your profits right at that time, players who are too having fun will increase the amount of bets and try their luck again in order to get the satisfaction of victory.
This is not easy if you only do it once or twice, and it needs to be an additional point is the gambling session that you do is not too close, because it will help you apply principles in gambling.

Of all that was said from the quote you made and referenced together with the one you give by yourself, i only find out your own points are more effective than what others said concerning avoid gambling, yours talk more about the steps in action to take to curb or stop any further attempts in doing what one is already used to, abstainance is one of the key way to get someone disciplined on a particular aspect, then you will try to look for an alternative means to exchange the addiction with by introducing something else to get busy with and the gambler could always gets occupied.

There's a point in what you said dude, everything that OP said in his opinion is correct for me and the things he mentioned are happening quite a bit. But of course, for those who are really addicted to gambling, it will not be easy.

But it is possible to practice what OP said little by little until a person who works hard and wants to change from an addicted gambler gets used to it, there is no problem without a solution as long as we also help ourselves.

Will it be a problem later? Depends on the gamblers, if they can control their own gambling habits, there will be no problem.

3. Just spend a few hours staying in a casino to gamble so you can avoid what you don't realize is wasting time that you should be spending on important things instead of gambling.

Simply gamble on your spare time only, spending few hours is already too much for a single gambling session unless we are talking about tournament in poker game.

Yes, that could be considered an attitude that goes against what he is promoting right now.
Asking people to stop gambling is an unprofessional act in promoting gambling sites. OP looks like he's promoting and wants to save people. Encouraging people to stop gambling and making them aware of the dangers can help protect them from possible bigger losses.

It seems that we often find suggestions like this in threads that discuss addiction, limiting spending in gambling and also diverting the mindset not to focus on money but to focus on pleasure because only with the aim of making money is sure to continue to be curious with high curiosity and hope. get the victory in the next game when you lose. so you don't stop gambling and keep playing until you become an addict.

I think this discussion will always be interesting to discuss even though we have also found many ways to stop gambling in this forum let alone avoid ourselves from becoming addicts, even though it is very impossible, reducing gambling is easy and limiting expenses includes changing the mindset in gambling .

keep walking, Johnnie
Gambling becomes addictive for those who have plenty of money. A middle-class man only gambles in order to earn some extra income. If he becomes addicted and keeps on losing, then definitely a point will come when he won’t have enough funds to gamble further, and automatically his addiction will also get over. Yes, the points mentioned in the OP are good, but some gamblers will deny following them. Gambling addiction is seen only in rich people. For them, gambling is like winning. For them, the money doesn’t matter. I would suggest everyone gamble only within their limits.
It seemed to me that everyone is equal to various vices and addictions, regardless of social status, financial situation or sexual characteristics. That's where the real equality is. Smiley

Gambling addictive is not limited to the rich. The difference between a rich gambler and a poor gambler is that the former can afford to lose more.

Addictive doesn't automatically go away, trust me. Smiley A middle-class man (not only he), as you say, left without sufficient funds to continue playing, will lose the rest of his funds until there is nothing left. And then, he will start to get into debts and loans, from friends and banks, in order to lose again in gambling. As a result, they have nothing left. Absolutely nothing. Such cases are not so rare.

It is really interesting to know that there are people giving their side of thoughts in order to give gamblers advice when they are having difficulty to prevent themselves from gambling.  Though I would say it always ends up on the personal discipline and self control, these few advises can make people thinks another means or reason for them to stop gambling and if they failed to, the latter advise of keeping oneself loses to minimum is also a good alternative option.

A true gambling addict cannot gamble moderately and cannot "spend a few hours in a casino".
The only solution for gambling addicts is to stop gambling completely and find hobbies, that are more productive and don't require money.
Of course, getting rid of addiction is a long and hard process, which requires help from friends and family.

The truth that most of us are diving away from is what you just said. The only solution to addiction is to stop and engage yourself in something meaningful. Family and friends actually have important role to play to help fight against addiction through financial support with strict monitoring, advice and spend time with the victim in order to take their mind off gambling. Some wealthy family set up store and other business ventures that will keep the victim busy.

However, fighting addiction is a game of mind that only the gambler can determine if they are ready to stop being addictive or not.

It's easy to say, but it is hard to do, especially if the person is already addicted. It could be done little by little. There's no need to remove it from that person's system in one snap.

If you find yourself addicted to gambling, try doing something that brings you joy. Instead of playing, you can watch other people stream their gambling sessions. It somehow helps and gives you the same satisfaction that you get when you're playing.

If you are not into deep gambling or you are not addicted some of this can be done, in fact by just even minimizing your time in a casino you can easily stop your urge to gamble, but if you're addicted you need help from your loved one and professional help, addiction has level and the cure depends on the level of its addiction a professional will laid out a plan to stop the urge from within to gamble, its a plan to eradicate the urge to gamble and it takes time and effort from the part of the patient.
