That was our first impression, they are not strong but in reality, they are. They would not win against South Korea if this team is not strong, they maybe are young but the Gilas now are composed of talented guys, and having a tall Center like Kai Sotto is a blessing for them, he even looks better than Fajardo in terms of performance in the FIBA.
Many are saying that they aren't strong because of these 2 things:
1. They are very young players (average of 22 Yrs. Old) and because of that, they don't have experience in some professional basketball leagues like the FIBA or the PBA itself.
2. They didn't have any chance to at least have a game with other countries (like a scrimmage just to have more experience). Most of the time they are just practicing themselves.

In reality, they will not win against SoKor if they didn't have a good chemistry and at the same time a good coach. The future of Gilas is very bright with these young and talented players. I believe though that this experience will help them to shape to be a better one in the future.

On the other hand, I saw a video on Youtube saying that the win of Gilas against South Korea was just a luck. The Coach of SoKor said that we just won because of luck because we have the buzzer beater that made Gilas win and quality. What are your takeaways with this?

I agree to that, Kai improved a lot and he's playing big time. If he continue to play healhty with his young age for sure if ever he won't made it to NBA there are many offers outside,

Hopefully the future of each players open up the door for more competitive salaries, PBA stars needs to see how this young guns manage to win with a great pride.

Looking forward for more Kai's highlights during this FIBA games.
PBA starts are getting older now, we have these young generation for the future of basketball and I believe the PBA commission are too strict and some players are not allowed to participate on international games or league. Anyway, with regards to KAI, he has a good experience abroad and that result to a great player though he’s still young and he still need experience since FIBA is totally different.
This is like a training ground with this young guns now for them to improve more in the future but I guess the roster will be updated again once the Asia Cup is nearing. I think they still need some veteran in this category and for them to learn more from their guidance, I wouldn't think it will be all full blown young prodigies.

Yes, that's the typical setup for the Gilas. They're only getting those superstars from the NBA but having the chance to break that norm and making a team that's not fully reliant on the PBA, is a good test for the Gilas Pilipinas so that they'll have to compare the results and there's also an opportunity and chance for the new players that are also competitive. The current roster of Gilas is also strong but cannot be compared to the past ones. I just wish that this is going to be the team that will be qualified and will have a long run in this tournament.

It's good to try different approach in terms of collecting players and give som good opportunities with newbies. They might not that strong compared to the Gilas that we used to love,

But the chance are equal if they'll do well, though it was mention that it's isn't the final list once the qualifiers are already done, changes with players to play are  very possible, re-enforcement from international players, those half breeds are expected to happen plus those superstars from PBA is also there for finalization of Gilas squad.
Yeah, I appreciate the change and different approach the Gilas management did for their roster. These are the aspiring players that we will watch in different leagues, locally and internationally. As long as these players have already competed and played during their past matches, they should count them in and there's no change with those players as they lock them to the roster even if there will be another change. Those are only the additional players but there's no replacement that shall happen. I hope that's going to be their main rule.

His "Hook shot" technique is very effective, with his height, no one could block that, and not only on the offense, but he is also playing well in the offense grabbing the rebounds and blocking shots, we don't have that kind of athletic center in the past.
He may be young and have a limited experience playing on FIBA games, we can see his composure, his desire to play and his talent has improve a lot, KAI is one of our best player. We have a better future because of these young players, hopefully no more PBA players because they are not competent anymore, and let this young people
Lead us to a more winnings.

Actually, I was thinking that it's better if they've got some PBA veterans on their boat to lead them inside the court. But I think outside coaching is way better than playing with them. These young guys really can play well and can compete and I hope that for the next games that they've got, they're going to be consistent and will have those wins. I'm also proud and got hyped when I've watched that last shot, that was really a truly amazing shot and can be said as a miracle shot in a very crucial match.

They respect their coach and they have chemistry, these are young players, most of them are single I believe so their full focus is on the sport. It's also an opportunity for them to play for the country, usually this kind of opportunity is given to the stars of the PBA, but this time they got it.

I also put my bet on the Philippines to win and cover that high spread. I just want something to enjoy while watching the game and I cannot allow no-bet for this game. lol.

Good luck to the Philippines and to my bet.  Grin

Congrats on the win bro, that's pretty close. It's just in the fourth quarter did the Gilas pulled away from Indonesia, what a thrilling game if you watched it live and made that kind of bet.

I did not bet for them right now as my confidence for Gilas in this tournament is low, I mean they can win against Indonesia but not a blowout win, thanks God I'm wrong hehe.

Next stop would be a rematch against South Korea, I think the odds would be close and if you are a Gilas hater, good time to bet lol.

Thank you, my heart was pumping while I was watching the game, I really thought my bet would not cover because Indonesia was still scoring, but the good thing the 4th quarter big run really help. I already have 2-0 win betting on the Philippines, I'll continue to bet on them as they are in a hot streak now.

Here's my first win.

Wow! how lucky you are believing with Gilas cadets, I was thinking that since this young guns still
new to each other It will hard for them to blend together,

But It was a mistake and now they are really performing, the win over Korea was intense it should be
a sure win if that last FT went in as the lead will extend to 4, luckily that hail Mary 3 point shot went in and PH win with that miracle.

Congrats Gilas and Congrats to you!

They already have a 2-0 start, that's good already and better if they'll beat South Korea twice. There's no betting line yet but expect it will be out tomorrow.  Let the Philippines celebrate and relax, then we will see them tomorrow, I think they are not too tired in this game as they dominated Indonesia well.

Let's hope, at least the expectation is not high compared to the PBA roster that battles in this tournament in the past.
The young players are really surprising.

The Philippines will still be the underdog in this game for sure, the last time they are +5.5, now that they beat South Korea in the first game maybe we can expect a +3.5 and that's already good IMO, I would still beat on them taking the point spread and a little moneyline bet.

So Philippines will be playing tomorrow again?

Oh I though they have a game tonight? Well anyways seems I need to see the schedule since I miss to see their game schedule. But anyways we can agree to that discussion that Philippines still underdog between thia fight eventhough they defeat Korea on last match up.

Also this young guys are so promising  this is the indcator that basketball program in philippines is getting more better and better every year.

There's no way I will bet on that, I'd rather watch a game that I think will result in a close game and I like when the Philippines is the underdog as that would mean better odds for them. If you'll bet on the Philipines where without a handicap, you'll only win 1% of your bet, it's not wise IMO.

What if the odds for handicap -22.5 is decent? Indonesia is a trash team against the Philippines, no offense.

For the record, at any basketball competition, the average lead score of the Philippines against Indonesia is almost 30 points. That's the reason why the handicap for PH is 22.5.

About the 1% of the bet, I doubt someone will place a bet for 1.0-1.3 for the PH.

I also put my bet on the Philippines to win and cover that high spread. I just want something to enjoy while watching the game and I cannot allow no-bet for this game. lol.

Congratulations on your win brother, that was close, you just won by 1.5 points with that spread.
This team is really legit the way I see it, they are so consistent and they are playing with good chemistry.

The naturalized player of the Indenesia is an import of the Columbian / Terrafirma Dyip if I'm not mistaken.

You can see below the stats of the teams.

http://www.fiba.basketball/asiacup/2021/qualifiers/teamstats

Guam seems to be in the top, and Cruz was a really big help to the team I guess, he is now playing with this team and the last time I checked, they dominated their opponent. About the betting side, I think it's risky to take the high odds knowing it's a real competition, so I would also go with a game that is expected to be close or has very competitive betting odds.
The risk of betting is always high because we are betting on a real competition, the last match was unexpected considering the rivalry that we have in Korea. Our team made a good work on that despite of being pressured on the first half, now we will face Indonesia and I’m confident that we will win and we will stay on top on our class. Just bet the money you can afford to lose.
