You can see below the stats of the teams.

http://www.fiba.basketball/asiacup/2021/qualifiers/teamstats

Guam seems to be in the top, and Cruz was a really big help to the team I guess, he is now playing with this team and the last time I checked, they dominated their opponent. About the betting side, I think it's risky to take the high odds knowing it's a real competition, so I would also go with a game that is expected to be close or has very competitive betting odds.

We have a schedule today, it's Phillippines vs Indonesia.
https://www.fiba.basketball/asiacup/2021/qualifiers/games

I think Philippines will win this easily. They are -22.5 in this game and Korea beat Indonesia with 104-81 score.

There's no way I will bet on that, I'd rather watch a game that I think will result in a close game and I like when the Philippines is the underdog as that would mean better odds for them. If you'll bet on the Philipines where without a handicap, you'll only win 1% of your bet, it's not wise IMO.

Actually, I was thinking that it's better if they've got some PBA veterans on their boat to lead them inside the court. But I think outside coaching is way better than playing with them. These young guys really can play well and can compete and I hope that for the next games that they've got, they're going to be consistent and will have those wins. I'm also proud and got hyped when I've watched that last shot, that was really a truly amazing shot and can be said as a miracle shot in a very crucial match.

Actually, the final roster that will compete in the FIBA World Cup in 2023 is yet to be determined. The ones that are playing now are called Gilas cadets since they are aspiring to be included in the final pool. Still, we could expect Junemar Fajardo to be the main big man for Gilas and maybe Jordan Clarkson if ever FIBA will allow him to play as local.

SBP is sending cadets to this window of elimination as the competition is not yet so stiff and sending a PBA-laden squad is so costly. Other teams also did the same like South Korea, expect different faces from last night come 2023 as they will be sending their best players.

yeah right, but what we witness from those young guns, they've got pure determinations to win, I like that characteristics they trust each other and they are really moving  the ball well.

Coach is the number factor here, the way he manage the cadets they've jive from one another it's a nice gesture that players are really respecting their teammates.

We will see the final list once the FIBA World Cup begins, We do have lots of international ballers who can help the National team, aside from the PBA stars, Clarkson always wanted to play with his kababayan so expect him to wear the Gilas uniform.

Kai Sotto is again in the Philippines as part of the Gilas.

https://www.spin.ph/basketball/fiba/kai-sotto-arrives-with-gilas-pilipinas-in-clark-a2437-20210613?ref=home_featured_big

We will see soon how he can apply his training in the US and will he be vital for the team's success.
Yes. Show what you've got Kai. I saw his name in the list and they've just won against South Korea and made an amazing performance a while ago. That was an incredible buzzer beater!  Cool

These young guns really played so amazingly, we did not need the PBA players to play to beat a good team.

It was South Korea who had a good lead at the start but the Philippines came back in the 2nd half and win the game.
That last shot was great, if it didn't fall, the Philippines might lose in the OT, but still, I'm proud of them as they didn't give up, instead they come back to win.

They respect their coach and they have chemistry, these are young players, most of them are single I believe so their full focus is on the sport. It's also an opportunity for them to play for the country, usually this kind of opportunity is given to the stars of the PBA, but this time they got it.

Their old players already pass on their primes also we see that the PBA stars is not so reliable in the world stage thats why we the management select the Majority of Batang gilas or other college stars since they are fresh and skilled to battle overseas. We see how good they are abd provably we can see more good run coming from this young guys on next round.

These young guns really played so amazingly, we did not need the PBA players to play to beat a good team.

Good exposure for these young guns and they are the future of the PBA especially Kai Sotto but it was Dwight Ramos who did well in this game just like in the previous window. If this kid is eligible to play in the PBA, he deserves to be the number one pick overall.
Let's talk about the FIBA first, hehe..
I just like what the Philippines have shown, they surprise the South Korea team and I think they underestimated the Philippines that's why they lose.

Do they have a scheduled game today? I think I will bet on them

The new rooster of Gilas is so promising they are so good and they able to defeat Korea in just like that, I'm impressed on the performance brought by Ramos,Kouame and most specially with Kai Sotto for sure they will have a good run. Its so good to see Kai do some good works his hardwork in US really worth as he is totally a fast big man which is so dangerous inside and outaide the paint.
Just seeing the line up of the Gilas right now is just spectacular. Its a proof that the future of basketball of our country will be bright. I just hope that they will not play outside PH.

Now with regards to the game, it is a hard fought match between the 2 especially when our players have the average age of just 22 years old and experience wise players of South Korea have more than our players. Lets give credits to Coach Tab Baldwin too for how he is coaching this young and talented players. Now their ticket to FIBA Asia Cup is secured thanks to Belangel's Hail Mary Three, their remaining 2 games will just be a practice game for them to build their chemistry. Their next opponent is Indonesia and I think that they will blow this one off. After that they will face SoKor again.

P.S. Who heard how the commentators saying our PH words. I don't know but for me its just really amazing to see those commentators from other countries saying some of our PH words like "Puso", "Magandang Gabi", "Salamat", "Uwian na" etc.

I thought the Busan experience will haunt the Gilas once again after the missed throw then the 3-point shot by Korea that tied the game, fortunately, BelANGEL who was sent from heaven make that desperate 3 point shot that saves the day for Gilas and more importantly gives the boys more confidence going forward in this tournament.

Some may say it was just a lucky shot but what's important is the team won.

The Filipino fans now has something to watch out for that the young Gilas exceed the expectations of the Filipino.

I'm just curious why the PBA has said if the player wants out of the league, is it that the team and players side to settle? it's like the PBA holds the player's neck in every situation, all the trades and players being swap to other superpower teams like making the league unbalance and no competition, i think the rules need to change because at the end of the day this should be between the team and the owners the should be talking and not the league?
It's actually not the team that has a bind on the player but it's the PBA management that doesn't want to let go a player. They just want to let know that they should honor the contract that they have with the team and the player. But if they have seen that the team has allowed a player to get out, they should also allow them to get out if they have some opportunity that's knocking but no. They're the one who's stopping the player to get out of the league and it's like a closed place that no one shall get out.
The PBA cannot force him to play even if they have a contract, there must be a condition in the contract stating that "if a player will not finish the contract" he will have to pay something, that's why it was reported that the team abroad that is interested to sign him would like to buy out the contract, but the PBA still doesn't want to talk.
With the code of contract and law in our country, for sure that's a common condition when someone is signing up a contract. It's a common rule that whenever someone breaks a rule with their contract and tries to terminate it, they should pay a fine and that's probably higher than the total amount that the contract will give to the signee. I thought that there's no buying for his contract for that team and they've assumed that he's free to get out of the team but still, no more issues with him AFAIK, he's going to stay.

I'm staying away from this game, my thought is that the Gilas cadets will not win against South Korea and that +5.5 HC is inappropriate IMO as I think they will be destroyed by their opponents. Though this is a good experience for the young guns of Philippine basketball, betting for them is not a cool thing for now especially against a strong opponent like South Korea, maybe against Indonesia I will bet but I have to look at the odds first.

edit:

Seems like I'm wrong with my prediction as Gilas is catching up with the Koreans now.

edit2:

What a game, that Hail Mary three point by Belangel just went in. This kid just got future in the PBA with the way he man the point for the Gilas squad.

Very proud to see that we finally did it, that hail mary shot step side board really give the win to our  very own Gilas, luck permits the

pinoy pride to win this Fiba game, very intense and very dissapointing to the visiting opponent, in the other side, it was a vey good game for the home team winning it in front of their fans.

just a start of many games hopefully it will boost the spirit high for this young Gilas squad! Congrats!

Against a Rattlif reinforced South Korea I think the Gilas Cadet would be a huge underdog in this match but still, it's exciting to watch the future of the PBA play.

Not sure huge based on the betting odds that were shared.

The Philippines is +5.5 and 2.85 to win the game.
Korea having Rattlif is like having an import and we don't know how the Philippines would stop him.

So the question is, is the +5.5 worth to take or not? why?

Thanks, I just finished watching the highlights and it's just a short highlight, and I'm glad the Philippines had a good start in this tournament. Sotto was really a big help for the team, he was good inside with his defense and I think the roster now is even better than the PBA rosters, just saying.

By the way mate, congrats on your winning, you did not only win in this game but also on the NBA.
