Magnolia knows they are taking the risk for getting Calvin Abueva.

Magnolia coach Victolero says enigmatic Abueva is worth the risk

If they can utilize Calvin's talent very well, this should be a success for them.
Calvin will energize the team, and that's what the Magnolia team needs, so I agree that it's worth a risk.

New on Mark, still has not sign a contract yet.

He can as we seen him playing from two different teams and with Gilas, once he's presence is there it can energize the team.

He's athletic capabilities if being managed well can bring something to the entire gameplay, it's worth the risk only if Abueva will coöperate and continue to change he's attitude, knowing what he's cases it's time for him to settle this with Cojuangco's own franchise.

It will give him all the opportunities to have a much comfortable life. He should not take this away by that bad attitude before.

What do you guys think, Retire or play on? Magnolia expects Pingris decision by next month

For me, I think Pingris should retire, he already created a good name in the PBA, time to rest now and give the young guns and opportunity to make theirs. Even if he will play, he will still be injury prone, and he is not getting any younger, so I'm saying he should retire.

With the Beast around, i think Magnolia will be good even without Ping but it would nice to see him mentor Abueva and remind/advise him on what to do in order to win a championship ring. There is a news that the Beast is going wild again so maybe Pingris could tame him if needed.

To avoid injury, he could play limited and quality minutes for the Hotshots.

His future in the PBA is on him as he can play whenever he wants as he always has a place in SMC teams, let's not forget that he is Bossing's son-in-law lol.

Calvin has to avoid being stupid in the court again, 2nd suspension could possibly end his career, not good because he will be missed by the fans and it will affect him financially. Now that he was given a max contract, he should act professional and all he does is jut for the interest of the team.
Calvin has proved over and over again that he can compete even with big import but his approach to players should be changed, he is not playing on the street its professional basketball and those actions can't take him far in basketball, I know he wants to show his heart in sports but, if he keeps doing it he will end playing in streets forever, PBA eyes looking for him to commit a mistake and it will be the end of it, he should learn to control his emotions, with lots of people looking at his back like a bulls-eye one mistake is all they need to drop him, so stay calm, in the court just keep playing without hurting or doing stupid inside and outside the court hoping a great future for him.
He needs a good adviser to tell him the consequences once he break the league's rules again.

I believe his job is very important to him so if he will realized the consequences he might cool down and stay professional which only focus is to do his job and continue earning for himself and for his family. The sayings is true that regret comes at last, but in his situation, he already made mistakes in the past, suffer the worst penalty, so I guess learning from it is a must.

That's something we can expect from the Hotshots, even Paul Lee does not play most of the minutes, their rotation is good that's why their injury percentage is very low, and if I'm Calvin, I would do my best to impress my team and at the same time stay cool despite being name a "THE BEAST".
They always fall short against the SMB teams, now they have upgraded their line up by acquiring Calvin Abueva, I guess they have 50/50 chances of beating the BGSM or the SMB team, whoever team that will reach in the Finals.

Other news, this is a sad news for Kai.

Not good for Kai, his NBA dream might not be fulfilled, but it's okay if he will not succeed for sure there's always a room for him in the PBA. The league lacks big man and Kai could certainly get a team that would go after him, hopefully he can still play while JunMar is still active, that we will see how good he is.

Good news for our oldies but goodies.

Reavis, Abundo, Pascual; keeps spot open for Pingris, rookies

I hope they can influence Mark Pingris to still play with the team, it's an opportunity given since spot is still open for him, meaning the team still value him and needs him for their mission to win.

These players deserved to be renewed, they get some quality minutes and they work hard every time they are on the floor. Well, we can expect as that's the culture of the Magnolia Hotshots, they are a defensive team and they rely most on their team plays than their star Paul Lee.

If he can still play there's no need for him to retire, I guess does only missed the bubble but he can still play. he is only 39 years, not the oldest player in the league, Raffy Reavis is already 43 years old and he is still playing and can still play with good quality minutes so it's not impossible for Pingris.

I still want to see the Sakuragi of the Philippines, now that Magnolia got Calvin already, I think they'll become stronger if Ping will stay.

I agree! He's our Pinoy Sakuragi for nothing, if he still capable to play why bother to ask for his retirement, he can still contribute even he's no longer on his prime but the dedication to play the game still inside him. Teaming him up with Abueva and Sangalang, Giving him quality time to mentor this two young stars is really favorable for Manok ng Bayan.

As long as he's still interested to  join his team this incoming season for sure many fans will continue to support him, minutes inside the court might not be faorable for him, but having him still have an impact to this entire franchise.

I guess he will be inspired to play now that Calvin is on the team, this would increase their chances of getting into the championship and probably win this one. The good thing with Magnolia is there's a lot of players that can help Abueva, and they are more organized compared to the Phoenix, also well experienced with a lots of veterans.

I think retire.. he is not so active in the past seasons, so it's time for him to focus more on his family.

By the way, this news ( After trade news, Calvin Abueva's IG account gets hacked
) seems telling us that some fan or fans are not happy with the trade.

Quote
AFTER his big trade to Magnolia, which dominated sports news headlines this week, Calvin Abueva found that his official Instagram account had been hacked.

He is the latest athlete to be victimized by virtual scammers. Late last year, a few athletes like Alyssa Valdez, Kevin Ferrer, and Christiana Dimaunahan also bared their experiences about having their personal social media platforms hacked.

Damn Phoenix, just yesterday the are a championship contender but today they are back as a farm team.

I wish these are just rumors. So if this is true, the battle in the NBA will only be between the SMC and Pangilinan, and I think this league will be boring as they can easily manipulate games. I guess we have to shift to MPBL now? lol

PBA is still the highest or the most popular league in the Philippines although MPBL are getting the attention of the viewers also. The PBA has established a name, one team might surrender but PBA will continue to exist and it will open doors for new teams, if SMC or Pangilinan will given up their teams, then probably that would end this league, but I don't see a chance of it happening.

Looks like the rumor is true, another Phoenix player has not yet signed by the team, and we know this player can contribute to the team.

Brian Heruela plays waiting game as he has yet to be signed by Phoenix

Damn Phoenix, just yesterday the are a championship contender but today they are back as a farm team.

I doubt if they will re-signed Brian Heruela as there are rumors on social media that the team will just maintain 8 players as they can no longer bear the high cost of swab testing every 14 days. I hope that this is not true and if indeed this is the case for Phoenix, better to sell the team.

This team is owned by Dennis Uy, the same person who owned DITO, why not just re brand the team to advertise the new Telecom?

Selling it is not good, I think Dennis Uy is one of the richest in the Philippines, so he can certainly afford to still continue running this team.
