Liverpool will sure miss both Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, they have been the pivot since the onset of the premier league.
But won't be perplexed to see them to very y without them, their absence will be felf but Liverpool will go on.

Nigeria looking like second place owners in there group already, I know with Salah giving Egypt goals, they can defend very well.
Victor Oshime will be back for this, also Wilfried Ndidi.

Algeria has a big name amongst themselves, Mahrez a player very good at creating chances.
The Algerians always will always come up with a beautiful style of play, they might not have great names but they'll sure do good.

I love Africa Players because they are always strong and physical. I will follow up the tournament till the end.
I pity some clubs like Liverpool how will they cope?

Liverpool second team are capable of beating the mid table teams, Liverpool will miss Salah and Mane but they have player's that can still get the job done. The AFCON is always an interesting tournament to watch, I think this will be a very interesting and entertaining one than the last. I expect Salah to continue his form and help progress Egypt to the finals.

Nigeria would had been my favorite but it seems things might not go as I wish as they recently sacked their coach and all the drama I'm reading online. We do have quality players but sometimes the coaches don't know how to get the best out of this players, I hope this time it's not turnout the same story. It has been long we won and it would be great seeing the boys lift that trophy again as Giant of Africa in football.

Seen discussion about how Corona virus has affected football in Europe but many seems to forget Europe football clubs aren't the only affected ones. Here in Africa our local football tournaments are also been affected but thankfully the biggest tournament of them all haven't been affected. To my best of knowledge, I haven't encountered any news of the AFCON date been changed due to the recent happenings in the world if football.

In other news, Mikel John Obi (former Nigeria international player/captain) has just showed his humanitarian side by distributing 1800 crates of eggs to vulnerable households in Nigeria . Nigeria has been on lockdown for almost a month now inorder to combat the spread of the virus, resulting to hunger been the norm in the country. Just have to applaud this act of his.

It's actually quite shameful on the part of DSTV because they are based in Africa and we are unable to watch the African Cup of Nations qualifiers meanwhile we are able to watch the European qualifiers. Anyways Nigeria are currently leading Lesotho by 3 goals to one which is not very surprising.

Don't mind them although in their defense they're going after the demand of their customers and general public. AFCON qualification aren't that much of a big deal, the main tournament is where everyone is interested in, some just prefer seeing the scoreline or rewatching highlight of the qualifiers but still they're Africans best sport cable providers, they can do better. The match Nigeria vs Lesotho ended 4-1 in favor of Nigeria.

Goals from Osimhen (2goals and 2 assists), Iwobi and Chukwueze secured Nigeria the win after falling behind by an earlier goal from Lesotho. Nigeria are at the top of their group.

The match ended 4-2 in favor of Nigeria while Benin defeated sierra-Leone by a lone goal it would had been shock if Nigeria losses to a lowly Lesotho while parading the likes of Iwobi. chukwueze, osimehin etc over all its a good match, once again Nigeria establishing their dominance in Africa football, Yesterday Ivory coast defeated minnow Niger by a lone goal while playing at home, that scoreline is not very encouraging considering the arrays of stars paraded by the host like pepe, coulibaly etc.

The tournament is already living to expectations as it isn't shy of goals and also filled with outstanding display by the players.
I'm not closely following the full matches, but catching up on the highlights.

My cable provider (DSTV) package isn't giving me the opportunity to watch all the matches but surprisingly all EURO 2020 qualifiers are watchable. Well I'm also watching highlight of most of the matches since I have no choice than to watch what the cable network shows.

Round 2 fixures begins tomorrow and the next round would be played next year. I have no doubt in Nigeria winning their next opponents but just hoping the recent news on the future of the manager doesn't affect their mentality to cost them the game. News are spreading round of the intention of NFA to sack the manager with the reason he's underperforming.

I'm not closely following the full matches, but catching up on the highlights. African football always had so much potential to be better than it was (and to an extent still is). The love for football on the continent is massive and so is the talent. Hopefully with this and subsequent tournaments we show that to the world and shine more light on our own football; the home based leagues.
Impressive result by Ghana and Kenya. Nigeria made hardwork of it, but a winning start is always welcome.

Match results are in, just as I previously predicted, Ghana defeated South Africa, game ended 2:0. The biggest wins so far came from the defending champions as they won against Zambia by 5:0 scoreline. Mo Salah's Egypt has already began this tournament on a low form by drawing 1:1 to kenya in their first home game, very disappointing if you ask me.

Round 1 matches continue today while round 2 begins tommorow. The tournament is already living to expectations as it isn't shy of goals and also filled with outstanding display by the players.

We're on top of the table for Group L thanks to goals from Victor and Samuel. After missing out on the 2019 AFCON to Algeria, I believe Nigeria will put in more effort to edge out opponents this round. In group L,

Exactly my point. Sorry for the mix up. It was hard forgetting about the 2019 AFCON disappointment. But let's look forward to the one in 2021. I have a feeling we'll go beyond where we got knocked out this year. The 2-1 win yesterday against Benin was a step ~ One taken in the right direction.

You mean lossing to Algeria in the semi finals right because we were at the 2019 AFCON and came back disappointed with a 3rd place position.

Update: Here are the result from yesterday's 13/11/2019 features, the table in the OP will be updated once Round 1 feature are over. The tournament is already turning into an interesting one with goals already coming from all angle.

Out of the 11 game played, just two ended goalless while three (2 from the goalless) ended in a draw.

I want to start by stating that what you think is very sad. On the contrary, I am very happy to create this topic.

I meant before now since there wasn't a thread to discuss Africa football on international break like the one we're currently on, it seems we felt left out so I decided to create one so we can hangout to discuss Africa football.

Nigeria is one of the champion candidates so there is no need to doubt they qualify from the group
My prediction is that Nigeria and Egypt will be in the quarter-finals and one of them will be the champion

I missed watching any matches today, but some interesting games and good results.
I did not expect to see easy away win in Angola - Gambia 1:3 game.
Maybe I missed some news...

I expect Nigeria to win their match and possibly give playing time to some of the locally based players in the squad.
The match of the round for me is Ghana - South Africa. Definitely not as polarizing as when the South Africans take on Nigeria, but there's still plenty of talent on display and a lot at stake, both teams would be expected to lead the group, the question is, who tops?

Nigeria won as you've anticipated, although Nigeria had to come back from being a goal but, I still think it was an easy game because Benin the cause any threat and only had a single shot on goal.

Senegal also won their own fixture, and the big surprise  for today imo was Angola losing to the Gambia despite taking the lead just 3 minutes in to game.

I want to start by stating that what you think is very sad. On the contrary, I am very happy to create this topic.

I as a citizen of Turkey, I enjoy to follow in the Africa Cup. I am especially excited about the fact that I have a few African players in the team I am a fan of. For this reason, I will closely watch the matches of Algeria, Morocco and Ivory Coast. When I look at the group matches, I think these 3 teams are favorite in their groups.

I think it will be a great tournament as always and probably will see many good games. For me the top contenders if I were to choose 4 would be,Egypt,Tunisia,Cameroon and Ivory Coast although there are a lot of other strong teams participating here. This is also another major tournament where if we play with caution and study a bit our bets we may make some extra money here too.

My top4 contenders would be Algeria, Senegal, Egypt and Nigeria. As usual I will expect players like Ndidi, Mane, Mahrez and Mo salah to continue with their current form as displayed in the premier league.

Yap! Salah should be the key for their national team as he is one of the heart of Liverpool FC. I just hope that he does not get any injury from this international break. I really hate this international breaks.

True, that would really be devastating for Liverpool's premier league campaign if Mo Salah does get injured, the physicality of the tournament posses the possibility of injuries but since this is just the qualification stage I'm quiet sure the commitment won't be that serious to risk injury considering all the big players are already aware of the competition presently in club football especially the premier league.

I hate the international break too but love the AFCON tournament since it present an opportunity to see our Africa exports (Africa footballers playing outside Africa) display for their respective countries.
