too risky of course Yes. But if you want to be patient waiting for the not unlikely event of one coin can go up high if you want to be invested in the long term.

Very risky indeed  because the moment that alt coin will have its market value plummets down so deep, it can cause panic that may lead you to sell your only altcoin at a lower price. Thus, you end up losing your money. But if you have the heart to risk it and fully understand the principles of HODLing, then go for it.

" Investing is a risk, but not knowing what you are doing is a greater risk ", i've read this somewhere and i really think that this phrase applies to you. Why on earth will you put all your money in one project? Eventhough it's not a big amount that you are referring to, if it's all you've got then my friend forgive me but that is a very careless and lousy thing to do. I totally agree with you in investing to two or three coins instead. That way you have a much better outcome to look forward to. Kindly think twice what you are about to do.

Hi,
the altocoin market is so variuous and there are dozen of interesting projects that can be supported.

But  i'm a little investor (500$) and i'm seriously thinking to put all my money in only 1 project I think is very good which curretly is in the top 40 of altcoins. I don't want to say the name because my topic wants to be very general: what do you think is the risk  by doing so? Should I invest in 2 or 3 coins instead?

Thanks
Yes it is risky but there's nothing wrong if you invest into 1 crypto only and hold for a long time specially if thorough research has been made before buying the coin. Theres a lot of altcoins out there that is good for long hold specially those that are in the top 10 in the coin marketcap. Its like gambling and you want to stick to a single number in roulette and lottery.

No, it's not very risky, if you chose a good coin from the TOP-20. But if you bought rubbish and hope that it will make you rich, then I must upset you ...

I know a friend who invested 200$ into 50 different alts on poloniex. The portfolio increased in price however the amount of administration was insane; with 500$ I would not go for more than 3 coins.

If you invest all your money in one altcoin then you are truly a risk taker. For me, it is better to put big in 1-2 coins. And then the third will be a reliever coin in case something unwanted happen.

If you put all your money in one good altcoin then I can say its better than to have a lot of coins that is really useless. Personally I am doing this and its works for me though its risky but my goal is for long term. But yeah, better to have more so you can lessen the risk, try to hold bitcoin it can really save your money.

I always split it up. But some people like to bet it all on red, I don't!

I was also thinking going all in one coin is like playing Roulette! Can win big but also very risky, I spread mine across 12 coins in last 6 months and I hit 2 or 3 coins that went x10, several x4 to x 6, and the rest x2. No loses yet luckily.

I've done it myself, and I wont recommend it.. I was lucky with my NXT investment, but honestly it was all due to luck

First lesson most business students are taught is to not have all your eggs in one basket. So I would like to pass that lesson on to you also.

The more coins you have the better you can avoid market exposure (to an extent).

It is a very big risk to keep all the money in just one coin. But sometimes this risk can be justified and you will get a big profit. If you know how to choose coins that will grow soon, you can invest in one coin. As an investor I don't recommend to act this way.

the decision you take is actually quite nice and very bold but also risky. always pray may the altcoin you have not come down and make you lose.

as much as possible don't just focus on one coin only because if the coin comes down will cause capital yours out. therefore at least have two types of coins in order to be safe.

Yes it is too risky to invest all of your money in a single coin, I suggest spilt your investments for multiple coins.

I really would stress the need to have a bit of diversification in your portfolio, by all means go heavy into a coin but please at least have 2 or 3 on the go in case your sole choice leaves you losing a lot.  Maybe $125 into 4 different coins or even a 50/50 split between 2 coins but I would advise having a think and have at least 2 coins in play.

Try to split it, investing whole amount in one coin could be stupid thing so just split it and try to give the most in coin that you believe and less in other ones to just have some protection.

just like play in casino. more risk more fun. I usually put 90% my money into just 1 coin or token. you must have strong heart

Indeed, you gotta be strong enough if you want to risk your full money allocation into Cryptocurrency investment but I think if you're lucky then you deserve high profits in return but the fish is really too high.
I invested cryptocurrency but in an amount that would not hurt me if I lost it, at least a portion of my hard earned money.
