I try to make my minimum investment around $200 per coin.  In this context, $500 is enough for 1 or 2 coins only.

You can probably split it to 3 max;
- $200 on a safe/established coin (top 10--BTC/ETH/XMR/NEO),
- $200 on a known up and coming coin (top 10-60--VEN/ICX/ONT/WAN), and
- $100 on a riskier new/cheap coin but with good project and team (STORM/OCN/GUP)

Me, I would put half and half on 2 coins in the mid-tier (likely $250 on VEN and $250 on ICX)--it gives you better chances of bigger return with minimal risk.

its big risk but when i saw your money $500 i guess its not big money for anyone so maybe it worth . What did you buy ? Which altcoins did you invest it ?
You can buy now VEN or MAN or NEO or QTUM or ETH or which you believe in it. You must buy something has value and a solid project. Dont listen anyone do your research than invest in something.

nobody puts all the eggs they have in the same basket
What did you mean? That's an idiom?
Please don't distructive the language of others, if you cannot afford to understand be better of leave this sentence. I prefer to use standard language and understandable to others.

I think choosing an investment is free to do depending on the person who invested the money. And now I believe investing in one coin is safe, but it depends on the altcoin you choose. For a fairly safe investment by choosing an altcoin only, I choose ethereum (1000 people will suggest this) but ethereum is absolutely safe (for people who believe cryptocurrency will always be there) to be an investment place.

If I have $500 then I would invest it on a few sure wins as far as I am concerned. Neo and Cardano. But only if once there would be dips in the said coins then I would invest. If I feel they are on the rise then I will buy at their low then wait for it to climb.

Hi,
the altocoin market is so variuous and there are dozen of interesting projects that can be supported.

But  i'm a little investor (500$) and i'm seriously thinking to put all my money in only 1 project I think is very good which curretly is in the top 40 of altcoins. I don't want to say the name because my topic wants to be very general: what do you think is the risk  by doing so? Should I invest in 2 or 3 coins instead?

Thanks
I think you should not invest all your money on just 1 altcoin. Because there is a high risk, nobody puts all the eggs they have in the same basket. I recommend buying at least 2 altcoins to diversify the capital. NEO, Litecoin and Ethereum, these are the best and most promising altcoin, I recommend you buy and hold long term if you want to have profit in the future.

It is always wise to invest in 2 to 3 coins rather than investing in a single coin and waiting for the profit. I use to invest in 4 to 5 coins and those will be not based on top 40 or top 50 as you said and what I invest is based on the potential of that coin. I will carefully observe and validate the growth and their potential of the coins before investing in to it even if it is a single penny.

$500 is not small ammount you could live for one month in third world country. Spread your investment. Dont ever invest in one basket. If somethings goes wrong you still have another investment. For $500 put at least $250 to two altcoin. Or if you want to take higher risk. Put it to two good ico. If you lucky enough you can multiply you money easily

Investing all money in 1 coin of course risky, but diversified assets wil give x20-30 per years. When 1 coin can give x100-130 per year. So if you sure that you chosed the most perspective coin- hold it

It's a risky game my friend. The main investing rule - diversify your portfolio.
Your main part of budget invest in top 10 blue chips they will grow in order to cover your losses.
The other part invest in perspective coins on their lows and study these projects their ideas news and development.

Yes,,, far too risky, I hope you were just joking when you said all in. You might as well gamble at a casino all in on blackjack at least you have about 1 in 2 chances to double your money.

Diversify I agree, that is what everyone should learn. If you have no time, then yes, get the "blue chips" get two or three and just forget about it. Bitcoin must always be your #1 holding, that is all. Anything else is unknown factor.

Investing all your money in one coin can give you bigger profit than invest in fews, but it is more risky. Of course if you invest in long term coin the risk decreases but is still.

In my opinion you should find 2-3 coins for you investments, and divide the amount into 2 or 3 parts and invest.

In my opinion, this is very risky because you are only fixated on 1 coin only.
And in investing you should use some coins because it will make you get more profit.
If only one, the risk of losing coins is great if you choose the wrong project.

Just put all 500$ in an exchange that carries a nice variety of tokens ( kucoin or binance  for instance ) and diversify in 3-5 coins. All in on just one coin is asking for trouble.

indeed if investing money in a bitcoin is a bit risky, so we have to sort out the fear that there is the worst thing that happened to anything else in large numbers.

If it's a project you really really believe in and will stick with for years, I think there's potential to invest everything into one thing.  However, if you're planning to day trade with it back and forth as prices fluctuate, I'd absolutely go into at least three different things starting with $500.  Diversifying mitigates a lot of the risk associated with trading.  But like I said, holding is just fine too, so long as you actually hold it long term.  Never get emotional with your money, gotta structure your investments in a way that keeps it in check.

If you want to put your money in only one coin. Study first the coin that you want.  If it has the potential to grow in the future and give you a huge profit. If the coin you choose has no potential to grow your money will loss.

Of course the step is risky, but the amount I think allows you not to be upset in case of loss. Calmly take a cheaper coin to close though with a quantity, and in the future everything will depend not on you.
