I think yes, it's risky if you're going to put all your money into Cryptocurrency that you're not sure if that currency will increase the price or not. My advice is putting half of your money into it just to make yourself safe when the currency you're investing isn't increasing the value. It's better safe than sorry I suppose.

It is the most risky thing ever but remember that after thing like that you have also the most chance to just earn the most. Big risk = Big earnings.

Diversification is overrated. Since all legit crypto moves up together.  Most people have opposite problem, they put their money in to many projects and they cant follow them all and miss everything.  Having less then 10 coins is highly advised. But once you are long in crypto that is hard to achieve.

Hi,
the altocoin market is so variuous and there are dozen of interesting projects that can be supported.

But  i'm a little investor (500$) and i'm seriously thinking to put all my money in only 1 project I think is very good which curretly is in the top 40 of altcoins. I don't want to say the name because my topic wants to be very general: what do you think is the risk  by doing so? Should I invest in 2 or 3 coins instead?

Thanks

It doesn't matter if you are a small investor or a gigantic whale; diversity is a fundamental part of investment risk management.

You win some and you loose some, that's the nature of the game.

Putting all the eggs in just one basket is a really bad idea.

Diversify, choose 5 coins and spread your investment putting $100 in each.

It's always funny how people try to justify doing the wrong thing by saying they are only a small investor or other such excuses. It is like anything in life, even if you start small you have to learn the proper principles and practices and those will remain with you through being a small fish to growing in to a gigantic whale.

investing all your budget in 1 coin is the same with gamble. it is not trading or investing. you should choose about 3 to 5 coins. I think you should spend your time to learn about cryptocurrency and trading skill

Too risky in any commodity, any market. No one would ever tell you to put your money into one basket only. It's different if you're a supporter, a miner, or someone who just holds and didn't invest their life savings. They could put all their hope into one coin and still earn an income on the side, believing the rewards to come in years. But to put all your money in one alt? Even to put it all in on Bitcoin is too risky.

Don't be greedy, my friend. Play it safe. Well, not safe but less risky.

It is very risky. I wish I could take same risk. It will make you impossible to cut losses as you will cut everything at once in one coin. I prefer to diversify in 5-6 coins.

You should be invested in at least three different coins or more. You don't want to put all your eggs in one basket. Because if you're only invested in one and it crashes then you'll lose all your money, but if you are diversified, and one coin crashes but another goes up then it's all good.

So invest in a few different coins. Even if it's a small amount of money.

Buying a single coin is too risky. Either you earn big money or you lose big money.
Of course, in the meantime, many pumps will fly in front of you, you are just watching Wink dont use just 1 basket for your eggs.

The most accurate strategy here is having different ones in your altcoin basket, maybe 10-15 different ones. This reduces the risk significantly and the chance of catching great pumps increases drastically.

if you want to put only in 1 project, at least don't put all your money in a single price. split it and made it as back up so if the coin price drop you still can buy more in lower price with your back up capital

If you realize this then I think you should have a backup plan for your property instead of investing all in such an altcoin. Investing in altcoin is very profitable but the risk is also due to altcoin is not stable and vulnerable to the impact of the market, the activities of the prices of large investors. I think you should have at least 2 coin to invest, which should have a stable coin like bitcoin or Etherum. This will help you recover your capital if altcoin is heavily discounted.

Try adding more coins in your mind it is such a waste if your holding just one coin there are so many altcoins out there like XPEC, REBL and TCASH

In my own opinion, yes its too risky! Why ? Simply because you dont have variety of investment. You'll just focus on one coin. What if it , does not success? Then you dont have any back up . So for me it was too risky to do. If you really want an assurance that you capital will comeback, then you should be wise in choosing and making decision in cryptocurrency. You should always have plan a head of time , so if your first plan failed you still have your back-up.

Too risk? Yes
You can lost a big part of your portfolio? Yes
YOu can be very well rewarded? Yes

It depends on how hard can you support. If you don't care about losing your money and believe that this project can go extremally well, why not?

In my opinion don't put all your money in one investment i think haft. I don't see anything risky in investing on bitcoin unless your care less on your transaction on other people. Bitcoin is safe in wallet and the price don't need to worry because price is continue in impressive price increase.

i would say, yes, it's too risky, to put all in one alt. But as you say, your a small investor and you could look at the $500 as a FIRST investment. do your research wisely, as what goes up also goes down.
