Technical issues during tape-out. delivery promised for Sept.

Funny. So dispatch date is now end of September.

They informed us before that they started the chip production and even payed 20% extra to get it faster. That was an ordinary lie apparently.

If tape out went wrong they knew it in May or June. So much about the transparency from their side.

Actually they have shown no proof, no picture of anything. Just a drawing of the PCB that we have seen months ago.

But there is good NEWS as well! According to the manual CEO referred to the WIFI is back!  Grin Also, the unit will be stand alone with CGMINER working on their native hardware! Wow!

Very much this^

There is that blame game again rearing its ugly head. It is all Paypal's fault.

Why does this feel like a shell game? Nothing in that so-called announcement warranted the "update is coming soon" other than having to employ a graphic artist and someone with knowledge to hurriedly create those cartoon images. Nothing else. Not one thing. It is not like they have been waiting till the very last minute to hear from the foundry what the very latest delivery date will be. Since they are already "half-way through" fixing the issue completion would certainly be known well in advance.

PayPal ? they never accepted PayPal as an Option !?!

They did at the beginning, that's how I paid.

when ? i was there at the beginning i didnt saw this Option - if im wrong - how said fiaz - my apoligizes to all out there

I had to double check this, but I've just gone back through my Paypal history and yep I have a transaction for 22 Jan and refund on 22 March.

i have posted too and asks why PayPal when PayPal was never an Option to pay - deleted - asks again - banned from the Forum

thats the way they go with their customers

and if it was not sad you could be laughing about: the whole time theyre saying creditcrad paying is an Option - then cancelled and if the People say "hey the only way to pay is with cc" they answer

we are so sad - but to secure your order pay

"we will try to give you as much time as possible but the only way to secure your order is to pay now."

nice guys - they never said they will have Problems with cc - a lot of People wouldnt have ordered a Thing if they said so

If you're in the UK, I would advise visiting. Nobody has done that recently, at least that is publicly known.

Yea im surprised, dat UK customers dont visit them oO (and telling their story here on forums)

I was a UK customer but did get a refund (some time back).

I'm wondering whether perhaps they chose to refund UK customers knowing  that we are the ones which are more likely to turn up to their door and create havoc? If they kept us sweet, then they were highly unlikely to get any disgruntled offshore customers turn up due to costs and logistics.

Just a thought.

Fiaz is deleting tons of posts with a great passion currently.

Anyway one more thing bothers me.

"Apologies first of all when I said it should be released I genuinely expected it to however these updates sometimes incur a few days delay as information has to be relayed through multiple parties but it will certainly be any day now I assure you."

How the above may be true in context of messed tape out in May. Fiaz just learned that the tape out was messed?

False, even in emails up through March/April they were discussing July as the latest promised delivery point, and based on advertisements from day 1 they promised it "or your money back". That is a term.

22 May 2014

Greetings Miners!

We’re happy to inform you that development is finalizing and we are on track for shipment in July. We will soon receive our chips at which time we will have finished up on development and can begin assembling the devices.

Therefore, it is now time to collect the remainder of the funds for your order(s).

^^
Still hanging in their News section.

Another BIG question is how they learned their chips will have faster hashing power at lower power usage if even the tape out was messed?

This "update" is pure play to get some more time, to refuse more refunds. I am sure there will be no dispatch end of September. They will post an update with something like below:
In the interest of there being no confusion, Q2/Q3 while it was our genuine expectation, is not mentioned in our terms. We only stated we HOPE to deliver Q2/Q3.

Which is exactly what is written in their T&C.

These folks just don't stop with the smoke do they? And notice how the update is coming from the big cheese, instead of the little squeeze.

Quote
As such we must unfortunately announce that we have had technical issues during tape-out which has caused us to have to do some portion of the ASIC layout one more time thus delaying the chip fabrication.

Another red flag. This is interesting considering their last report regarding tapeout was they had finished tests and were just a few days shy of packaging and shipping. THINK ABOUT THIS FOLKS! They started design in spring of 2013. In spring of 2014 they claimed to have a perfect design, and in May 2014 they claimed tests were perfect. More than likely their acceptance of 'varied quality chips' is what ruined them.

Quote
but also fast tracked it and corrected this issue if we were allowed funds from PayPal which they have decided to hold until delivery. We have had to rely on other sources of funding for this which we have achieved, so we are fully funded and tape-out is mid-way now there can be no more delay. In parallel to the tape-out process we have already started our fabrication of the PCB’s and enclosures, which we will display in our next update.

They're fast-tracking a 2nd tapeout? Didn't they fast-track the first one and it ended up being ruined? So they're fully funded for 20x the original project cost, despite claiming to be a startup with no money, and only having a few of the deposit funds? (10x for the hashrate boost, 10x for redoing it). Think about this!

As a result of this we have decided to announce shipping to be September as per our terms, this is something we have learnt we should have done from the start so we can avoid expectations and hopefully only announce good news. We know this news is unpleasant for all rest assured this includes ourselves, we have always tried to do right by you but may have perhaps over promised when we should have been more conservative all we can do now is learn from this mistake.

In other words, they weren't capable of such business execution to begin with. They had no experience, and now they're eating it, hard. This means for you folks who are paying these people, you'll be waiting at least 60 more days. That won't help your bottom line at all, with KNC and other folks likely shipping in August.

Quote
We also want to remind you we have increased the hash rate of these devices from what we were obligated to deliver by 10 fold at our expense, our terms only state minimum 25 Mh/s. We saw we had the capability do it and made a decision to put customers first in order to gain their loyalty for future batches. We must also remind you of the benefits of being a batch 1 customer, you will receive free shipping for batch 2 and a 10% discount off any future batch of your choice (we hope to avoid pre-orders for future batches).

WARNING: My suggestion is for folks to require this company change the terms to specify the new hashrates as the minimum. They keep flogging you guys over the head saying "it's not in our terms to provide more than 25mhs". Be warned, you could end up with a machine of less than promised hashrate, and then they'll tell you that they don't have to support you because their terms only specify 25mhs. This happened to many batch 1 KNC customers. This is very important! Get them to update the terms!

Another red flag. And they still haven't completed the supplementary boards? For a company who's "greatest hopes" were to ship in July, I find it *really* odd they had NONE of the required support equipment *already built*. How the hell were they supposed to ship thousands of units without PCB's or cases? It's obvious what occurred: They knew about these issues in MAY, which is right about when the development of the supplemental gear seemed to stop--they stopped talking about it, and everything went silent on the development front. If they knew about this in MAY, and are telling you 60 days later .... what were they doing this whole time?

As I've suspected for awhile, I believe their intentions on the outset were genuine, but they lacked the ability to properly accomplish the task at hand. Shipping in September means a likelyhood of October arrivals of your equipment. I don't have to tell you what this means for folks wanting to get money out of this. Your best bet is to immediately resell the equipment online, even at a slight loss if necessary

Theres again illegal content in their newest dev update:

"We have been very clear and open with our terms of order, it was released as a news update, it is easily available on our website and you are urged to view it on the product page before you order. As far as if it contradicts with consumer laws; this is not possible as such regulations only apply to consumer products"

(btw, first they said, its because we are business customers)

The only exceptations are:

Exceptions to the right to cancel

13.  (1)  Unless the parties have agreed otherwise, the consumer will not have the right to cancel the contract by giving notice of cancellation pursuant to regulation 10 in respect of contracts—

(a)for the supply of services if the supplier has complied with regulation 8(3) and performance of the contract has begun with the consumer’s agreement before the end of the cancellation period applicable under regulation 12;

(b)for the supply of goods or services the price of which is dependent on fluctuations in the financial market which cannot be controlled by the supplier;

(c)for the supply of goods made to the consumer’s specifications or clearly personalised or which by reason of their nature cannot be returned or are liable to deteriorate or expire rapidly;

(d)for the supply of audio or video recordings or computer software if they are unsealed by the consumer;

(e)for the supply of newspapers, periodicals or magazines; or

(f)for gaming, betting or lottery services.

thank you for the update,this is somewhat reassuring.This confirms my suspicion of a technical setback.I hope they learned now that disclosing this information prevents trolls from firing up the speculation engine.....

and to people still yelling scam i say: nobody in his right mind would make such detailed updates and images and designes for a scam. There are far easyer ways to scam. I hope everybody will just relax a bit now and stop making rediculus acusations and disgusting rasist remarks. They are working towards our asics, there are just some setbacks. I am developing a new product aswell unrelated to crypto and things can happen unexpectedly, even with good intentions. 1 problem leads to another,causing a chain of delays.

these things happen in life.

Greetings Miners!

As you know we are nearing the end of July with no shipping date. We have previously said we believe transparency, even in the case of something negative like a delay, is something customers must know and will only help our company’s reputation in the long run. As such we must unfortunately announce that we have had technical issues during tape-out which has caused us to have to do some portion of the ASIC layout one more time thus delaying the chip fabrication. Again, in the interest of transparency, we could have not only started this second tape-out sooner but also fast tracked it and corrected this issue if we were allowed funds from PayPal which they have decided to hold until delivery. We have had to rely on other sources of funding for this which we have achieved, so we are fully funded and tape-out is mid-way now there can be no more delay. In parallel to the tape-out process we have already started our fabrication of the PCB’s and enclosures, which we will display in our next update.

In the interest of there being no confusion, July while it was our genuine expectation, is not mentioned in our terms.

We are pleased to announce the WebGUI is complete and will be available at launch providing an intuitive way to fully remote control your miners. Follow this link for the Viper instruction manual. While we wait for shipping we want to continue providing details of our Viper up until launch. The Viper system will consist of three types of PCBs:

1. Power Distribution board for distributing power from SMPS (power supply) to individual Scrypt boards (CAD images below):

2. Scrypt ASIC board – This is where all the chips will be mounted along with their power supplies. In order to complete the Scrypt ASIC board design we have had to wait for the final ballmap information from the foundry.  Here is a signal pin out diagram of the ASIC that we have designed. Scrypt board design uses this information to correctly connect all the signals:

3. Controller board- This is where the CGMiner software and the Webgui will run (Carrier board CAD images below):

We would also like to take this opportunity to clarify a complaint among some customers with regards to our cancellation policy. We have been very clear and open with our terms of order, it was released as a news update, it is easily available on our website and you are urged to view it on the product page before you order. As far as if it contradicts with consumer laws; this is not possible as such regulations only apply to consumer products. We can assure you that our legal matters are dealt with by a leading law firm in the UK and our terms of order are completely legal; they were typed up by solicitors who specialize in this area of law. All sales are legally classed as business purchases for many reasons, one being that the hardware we are selling can only be used for mining cryptocurrencies which is legally a business practice and a taxable activity according to HMRC (http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/briefs/vat/brief0914.htm).

Kind Regards,

Mohammed Akram
