Actually it depends on the altcoin type, you have to study first the road map to determine its potential in the future.
Buying altcoins involves risk because we cannot determine whether it will succeed or will just become a shit coin but for me that is worth buying calculating the risk and rewards, more benefits if it succeed.

Well, thats really a tough thing to answer. I would say Ripple, Monero, Dash, Ethereum, Stellar, NEO, possible electronium. It seems lately even alot of the 'good' coins are dying out or losing community support.

At the end of the day, you are the only one responsible for your money you must take all the advice you see in the internet with a grain of salt especially since there are many interest, some may give you an advice to invest in a particular coin because they are invested in the coin themselves and want to sell.

Perhaps when this topic was asked, there were very few worthy altcoins, unlike today, when there is plenty to choose from.

I'm going to check the white paper to see if the project is viable or not, and who else is the developer and consultant, the social foundation, is the media that it mentions a lot about early traction. In addition, I am happy to hear influential people like Data Dash on YT

The altcoin with the most chance of appreciation and promising future prospects is the Ethereum. Of course there are other crypto with great potential, but ETH is the best known among investors and with a greater range of functionalities useful for the development and diffusion of blockchain technology

I agree Eth has great potential but also has to work out some scaling issues. I like Dash as well, doing a great job marketing which is huge in this space. The reason I mention digibyte is due to its security. I always try to keep a percentage of my hodlings in a ultra secure coin. Especially after what happened with zencash. I have a feeling that will not be the last major 51% attack. Hodling platform projects is key but they aren't always as secure as multi-algo projects.

Another great multi-algo coin that has tons of potential is Unitus. I’ve been accumulating Unitus for a while now. No ICO, No Pre-mine and No dev tax. 5 algo’s, all merge mineable which allows the miner to get rewards from two projects at the same time while only using the energy of mining one. You can mine it with CPU/GPU/ASIC without the ASIC’s having an unfair advantage. You can even mine with a cell phone. One of the best features will be a hybrid proof of work/proof of stake system that will be implemented in 2018, which will allow hodlers to earn block rewards for hodling. Their circulating supply is only 58 million, it will hit its soft cap of 83 million in June of 2022. Afterwards block rewards will stay at 2 UIS.
Yep. I agree with UIS. They have a ton of great things going for them for being a sub $1MM coin. Ultra security with the Multi-AUXPoW blockchain. Addition of PoS soon. They are trying to be the 1st in crypto to combine PoS with a multi algorithmic, merge mineable blockchain. They are also planned for listing on SIX (6) new exchanges including CrpytalDash - which is concluding their ICO within a few hours. https://bit.ly/2JeZ2fe

multi auxpow makes no sense the parent with the highest diff will always be the winner of blocks unless they follow.another spec in which case I would think thry would have a full proof that their changes to the spec are still secure.

Assuming that an investor opting to invest in nowadays ICOs, it could be sensible to hedge against adverse drops using a varied picking.

99% of these are going to lose you money in the medium-term. BTC and Ether and maybe a few others could prove beneficial in the long-term, but there's just way too many, and no single one that presents a good argument for becoming the go-to coin.

Rely also on you researches, there rating or top altcoins that helps or guide you in investing. There are also ICO that are starting to release their coins. Just make your own research and look for the coins that have potential.

I've been reading through this forums for the past few weeks and all I see is "this coin is dead" or "everything is a shit coin". Is there any alt coin with potential to invest in or is it only bitcoin? I don't mean like a few here and there, I mean over 100 coins.

First thing about investing in crypto is DYOR (Do your own research). That's a very wild question as everyone will answer as per there research and understanding of the project. I can tell projects in which I have invested and have believe. My most investment is in POLY tokens as of now. Other than that I own ICX, EOS, TRX. Also you can look into a newer privacy related coin called PRiVCY. They're not doing any ICO and already trading on crex24.com website. Project seems very promising, gave a look - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/--4484885

I love the Krypital bounty program team, I am always trying to get their tokens, and they are always worth of investment and buying them. So my suggestion to you, is to find the trustworthy Project and it's going to be always worthy of investment.

For me, altcoins worth buying are

Ethereum- very promising and you will not fail
Stellar - with under $1 price and good to buy on July-August
IOTA - with good features and cheap price. Will monitor on August if increase? For the short term.
I agree.  ETH is the safest coin for investment.  Especially now, when the price is very low.

Telcoin is the first platform created for the development of mobile money. In 2018, ten operators will be connected to the system with an audience of one hundred million subscribers. Team Telcoin has completed the technical part.

I think now is not such a bad time for buying altcoins. Prices are now quite low. Some altcoyins have good prospects for development. The main thing is to choose a good project.
