Name one major token sale that run with an Ethereum smart contract that has used an escrow then come back.
Most token sales use multisig addresses with signatures held by multiple parties, and that's a fact.
Not sure what Aeternity will use but the team has replied to you several times that they will announce all the terms when things are ready for the public.
The voice of reason will speak up pretty soon, revealing to us that one of the main priorities of this project is exactly a quick buck crowdfund campaign programmed into a smart contract. Why they have a preference for Golem-like crowdfunding model over much more traditional sale via forum escrow is because the first allows for slicker and quicker fund gathering while removing the element of trust and the need for escrow from the equation entirely.

It is written in erlang, and has lots of tests.
You can make and verify merkle proofs from the root of the database, and the root is recorded on each block.
I based it off of ethereum's patricia merkle trie.
