Mintcoin: Get some
What is the size of the folder in \roaming supposed to be? I have 2.7 GB.

That's huge, how long did it take you to sync?

With bootstrap, 24 hours.

For me, about 18.

Made a Download of the Mintcoin BlockChain on 10-28-2014 (install will be only a few minutes)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ax7xnlo0rhghuim/Mintcoin-BlockChain.zip?dl=0

Make sure Mintcoin is closed

Then Unpack and copy & replace the files from Mintcoin-Blockchain into C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\Mintcoin

Then open Mintcoin and it will start syncing the BlockChain from the 10-28-2014 instead of the start.

Will be as quick as the download & copy are complete.

@Mintcoin Team feel free to take the file for your downloads to help out new users on the new wallet.

 Cool

I don't think this will work. Is this verified to work? I think this process was tried before in the past and it gives an error.

Just need to use the bootstrap method or just sync from scratch normally. Syncing normally from scratch took me about 48 hours, (but I have shoddy internet connection that goes out from time to time.) Syncing normally is a bit better, if you care about having a fully synced block-chain verified by the network itself.

is mintcoin somehow related to mintpal?

NOT AT ALL.

I think a disclaimer in the OP might be a good idea.  Enough peeps have asked this question that it's warranted in my opinion.

***Mintcoin has NO AFFILIATION with the exchange MintPal

After making sure my beta wallet was up to date, I'm at 2.25 GB total for my Mintcoin folder.

Question on New Wallet

What is the txleveldb directory for and why is it filling up with *.sst files?

Will the wallet automatically clean up these files when no longer needed or are these files to be left alone?

Thanks.

 Cool

FYI:
Just want to make sure this is not a bug that will fill up the Hard Drive space with *.sst files.

Response from RoboGuy:
Those files are sorted tables, the are required by levelDb. If the cleaned out the old wallet files it will no take any more space than the old files.

It will be nice when it goes online again. With deserted coins, block explorers often have some skeletons in the closet, so it would be nice to see if there are some here. Once it is up, I'm gonna take a look at those first couple created blocks. Smiley

Awesome support again, Cryptomommy!

Btw, I have a fully synched wallet now, after just on night of deploying the bootstrap file. The wallet is very complete and even contains the possibility to do recurring payments. Have not seen that before.

Awesome - we have been testing in house for awhile now - it is by far my favorite Smiley

Let me know if you see anything in the block explorer. I have had a few people take a look at it because #1 looks odd - but everyone who has checked it has confirmed its an exchange Smiley

Also I am curious to what is happening with the Mintpal exchange coins.

That's a block crawler not a block explorer (try to view the transactions by a single wallet address and follow them across the blockchain), it's really bad to have no block explorer, some exchanges won't even let coins that don't have a full block explorer onto the exchange. It may be being worked on which is good but still...

Hi Dogetime

We did have two very nice explorers. One stopped working a long time ago and the other one - the developer came to me after the prior mintcoin developer left and wanted to be paid for the block explorer again as the last time he was paid was not enough (.2btc I believe)

This time he wanted more BTC to keep the explorer up.
Since then I negotiated a monthly fee to keep it up while we work on building a community owned explorer.

The community has not paid him so he took down his explorer which is ok as our developer team just finished securing the hosting we need for an advanced explorer with search by address features as well as a few additional whistles.

I hope this answers your questions sufficiently & do apologize for any inconveniences. The block explorer is the last loose tie from the handover of the community.

This this coin dead???
or !!
WHY DO YOU NOT HAVE A WORKING EXPLORER? WTF ARE YOU DOING?Huh

A team of people is working voluntarily to keep this coin going. A simple block explorer like this (http://multifaucet.tk/index.php?blockexplorer=MINT) works, so better to focus on other things.

I just want to say, I appreciate the hard work of the team and they should know not to listen to negative people. Smiley

There is a donation address for this in the wallet, so perhaps we should contribute to it. Smiley
