For my part, I consider that there is no definitive answers to this dilemna. That depend on too many factors - and I am a strong bitcoin believer myself. I support Aurora because of the team behind it and the idea of a specific national currency. Iceland is a good place to push such idea because of its remote location, and the ''outsiders'' mind of it's citizens.

Eggert is well on his right to think that bitcoin may succeed there, and that may happen if a lot of people push bitcoin idea. I choose to bet that Aurora Fondation will push even stronger - and who know, maybe there is room for a national currency alongside it's big brother bitcoin Smiley

I've been in communication with some of the guys behind Auroracoin lately, and i'm pretty excited to jump in and help as well as i can with pushing further this great idea. Aurora has been one of my first ''love-affair'' in cryptos, and i'm more then happy to assist this great new birth.

I would handle with caution until premine is actually destroyed, but i can't resist, i keep buying at every price level.

Keep going guys !

Icelanders will only look at bitcoin  because it is stable and has more support. AUR would be too risky for most of us, if you know Icelanders we don't like risk after 2008 and financial trust is big problem for most people here.

Everyone should look for himself!
And AUR is in my books for sure Wink
One more thing. Bitcon stable, seriously?)

Yeah I was about to make the same comment about bitcoin and I have to emphasize. Seriously!?

Actually I respect your opinion on this but I completely disagree. Bitcoin might gain the overhand eventually some years later (or not) but Auroracoin is the best option around to get peoples attention and to ignite their curiosity for cryptocurrencies. It is widely distributed in Iceland whereas Bitcoin is not.

Which do you think is more likely scenario for someone who has not touched crypto before, to try to use Auroracoin which they might have gotten from the airdrop and can be easily obtained (or sold) in the soon to come exchange or that that person would go out of their way to try to obtain Bitcoin which is in very short supply in Iceland and people are very restricted to buy it because of the currency controls?

welcome aura to the top 100. Really excited to see what will follow

Actually coinmarketcap doesn't even calculate the correct supply of Auroracoin. They base they base the market cap on 2.5 million total supply while the actual supply is closer to 6.5 million. Smiley

Btw, Skarfur, could you give some kind of update, what progress is being made on the workfloor in Iceland?

Sure. Smiley

  • First of all is that we have formed a new dev group that will be making its official takeover and announcement soon.
  • We have established the Icelandic Auroracoin foundation.
  • The first auroracoin / isk exchange in Iceland will be ready very soon.
  • The dev group has been working hard on updating the core but more details on that and a roadmap will be presented in the official announcement.
  • An official Auroracoin foundation website will be launched in the next days.
  • We are also preparing a new official coin site.

This is just small part of the work that is being done and more people are joining in on the work every day. I could go on and on here about details but I think it's best to let the work speak for itself. There is also a lot of good information and discussion on auroraspjall.is, you should check it out.

Thank you for the clear update. Always nice when communitymembers can see how much progress is being made. I Always loved the nationcoins and keeping Icelands financial history in mind, Iceland might be the best place to have one.

The market right after AUR originally launched was over hyped to say the least, but I picked up a little bit of it a few weeks ago after reading there's a lot of awareness and interest around it in Iceland. Worth holding on to to see what happens. Seems like the people of Iceland could use some kind of economic relief, regardless of whether Auroracoin is the one to provide it. Hope it comes to them, either way.
Where does it trade? Not on Trex, that much i know

That's something, I recognized long ago, as well. I never mentioned it. I never could decide if it was better or worse for Aurora to bring it up.

I have been in close contact with Balduro from the beginning. It has always been clear to me that his plan was to launch this project and setup the initial parameters, but he also made it clear he was not intending to run or manage things forever. He wanted to create a community that would take over for he was trying to make this a truly decentralized coin. That's why I still believe he will deliver on his promise to destroy the pre-mine once this community has proven to be able to be selfsupporting. This is what will happen shortly as Dinobotta described above...

Still, if nothing happens in a decent timeframe, we also have the opportunity to rule out the pre-mine addresses during the inevitable hard fork. So either way, we're good...

Interesting to see you here as well. I am looking around a bit, this last week, a bit tired of that nationcoin we were both interested in. Actually I am still am, when things change. I really hated the way the devs treated you, after doing so much for the coin. Btw,  I am still holding some aurora and after seeing you here, I am holding even longer, I guess. I really like your marketing performances. Something else, I found another interesting cheap coin MAGI (xmg) which looks very good, I think. At the moment, I am unloading the nationcoin ( you know which one I am talking about) a bit and investing in MAGI.
Well, best of luck with your projects.

I sent you a PM about buying your coins. Please let me know. Smiley

Don't buy Guldencoin mate, the Dutch could of ruled the world but those pricks are there own worst enemies. They don't need enemies when they have each other.

Take it from a fellow Dutch prick, buying Guldencoin is actually not such a bad idea, but you have to decide by looking at it yourself first, just like you need to do with this coin!

I am just joking mate, the Dutch and Guldencoin are good in my books. Smiley
