Another scammer falls on his face hate to say I told you so but this one was clearly BS  Undecided
It's funny seeing just how many iffy propositions are/were out there.  27 known or at least presumed to be legit ASIC developers, vs 32 known or at least presumed to have been dishonest.
Although I'm kind of surprised there were 27 good ones to begin with.  Not many remain now, of course, but then again there's some (sorta) new ones popping up.

Should have set a reminder - February (and then some) passed, and they gone up and disappeared.  How surprising Tongue

with so many sites to sell bitcoin machines.
which reliable?

This should be a new topic, rather than posted as a reply to 3 threads (so far).  There were two existing threads along this sort of line before (CoinCanary's old thread and xstr8guy's The Scam List thread that picked up from there but has since been abandoned as well (pointing to Dogie's Mfr. Trustworthiness thread instead - also see Bicknellski's miner sellers thread).  Plus there's BitcoinScammers(.com) but that hasn't seen any updates in a while either.

That said, a lot of information is on the forums already and can easily be found.

These three make their own chip, their own miners, and sell primarily - if not exclusively - from stock:
  • bitmaintech.com
  • iasicminer.com / asicminer-shop.de - german reseller, trusted member
  • spondoolies-tech.com
If you're in a position to buy from them direct, and there's no compelling reason to buy from a (local) reseller otherwise (discount, faster shipping, support in your own language, desire to support the local economy), these are certainly your best bet in terms of legitimacy.
I'll add to that list: canaan-creative.com / ehash.com (Avalon miners) and gridseed.com (Gridseed miners, though they're mostly focused on Scrypt now).  There's a few other big ones - BitFury, Black Arrow, CoinTerra, HashFast, KnC - but they're all in various states of only selling chips/hardware to large farms, out-of-stock/future, Chapter 7 bankruptcy, Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and being sued left right and center respectively.

In between the above and the below, for IP claims reasons:
  • bitmine.ch - Coincraft A1 chip aka Innosilicon A1 Booster chip

These make their own miners (but not their own chips) and should be fine:
  • technobit.eu - all sorts of chips.  caveat emptor: there are some complaints against them, mostly on delays, communication
  • visionman.com - canaan creative/avalon chips. they don't seem to have strong sales
  • xbtec.io - asicminer chips. caveat emptor: their communication is lacking

These are just resellers of existing off-the-shelf miners and should be okay:
  • antminerdistribution.com
  • holybitcoin.com
  • protact.net - you can check their ebay store's feedback or if you can read german, there's tons of threads from/on them in the German section

These I wouldn't bother with until they clean up their act (reasons given):
  • gawminers.com - They used to be okay, but then Hashlets and a sh*tstorm happened.  I guess they're liquidating some assets now, but do you really want to part with money by going there? I mean, really?
  • hashcoins.com - they're only selling Scrypt miners.  Their Uranus product is still vaporware pre-order.
  • hashra.com - same as the above - the Moonraker line is still vaporware

These are unknowns (i.e. there's just no good information on them either way):
  • buy-antminer.com

These have lots of signs of being scammy and includes the three from threads you posted this in:

I have to say that your selection is rather haphazard.. it's not an exhaustive list ( thank goodness, or it would be much longer Wink ), nor is it a list of companies that have particularly recent activity aside from the well-knowns, and the resellers are from all over the place.. Germany vs USA vs China; You'd only look at a German reseller if you happen to live in Germany or at least Europe, and having a heavy miner shipped from the USA to Australia is probably not a good idea either.

If somebody were to make a new thread, or a new site (ideally), or felt like making a wiki entry (slightly less ideal), it should certainly be more expansive than this.  I, for one, am not volunteering ( did you see what happened to philipma? eesh. this community is harsh, man! Wink ) , and suggest Dogie and Bicknellski's threads for the time being instead.

Big ol' disclaimer:
The above is as I understand to be the current status and this can be an incorrect interpretation now, and is almost certain to be incorrect in the future.
Do your own due diligence.

Never trust a man with that many consonants.

What if the man is a wannabe consonantnautski desiring to go to the moon via sales stemming from his heavily-SSL-cert-laden website? Or, was EMIC grounded due to said weight once realized via renderings scribed on a whiteboard after some initial funding trickled in?

Hi all. I'm one of the "smart" people who saw EMIC on https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison
Since a good friend of mine has solar panels, I thought this would make a very good investment.
So I placed an order, paid it, etc.

On the website it is said you receive an order confirmation after 48 hours at most, so either their clock has been broken for two weeks now or either something else is going on. I mailed EMIC again today, saying that if I haven't heard from them in 24 hours, I'm going to the proper authorities. I'll let y'all know how this turns out tomorrow. Same time, same channel.

While I would be absolutely stunned if you actually got anything besides a PDF confirmation, please report back on your outcome. I hope you are able to recover some of what you paid, since I expect this is a full on fraud. Sorry to be so negative........

That would be a Centaur WarRunner Hoof Stomp stun.

I will proudly belittle anyone who makes a living by ripping people off. Unfortunately these days that keeps me pretty busy, especially in America.

Worldwide issue.

Look at the culprits.

It is spread everywhere.

Because it's still fun to pick on scammers, even if they're not around to defend themselves?

I guess that'd make us bullying-the-scammers picker-onners.

whew, got sidetracked - hello!

are ppl still asking for proof? santa must be real! Grin
Well, it's only barely February - they still have 3 weeks to deliver Wink
( Promises of "lot of data right ater new year" aside. )

They've already been removed from the Bitcoin wiki (bitcoin.it) hardware comparison list, and I amended their main entry (EMIC) to point out that only pre-orders are being accepted and that no hardware actually exists at this time (as per their own FAQ).

I agree that this smells of scam, but at least they're not claiming to have hardware and then not showing anything for it - just the regular pre-order vaporware variant of scam. Getting to be about time that they start showing something, anything, if they're supposed to deliver in Feb though Cheesy

As an aside, if I were crazy enough to order, I'd definitely order the Polish version; Apparently it's 0.02W/GH/s more efficient than the English version: https://emic.com.pl/en/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/shemat.jpg
Good eyes. Since you mention it, I notice the Polish version is 0.023 verses English 0.025W/GH/s. As they said, Devil is in the details.

Looks like Polish Tic-Tac-Toe, where every play's a winner or loser depending on what day it is.

Probably the ASICs are built to do math with Polish notation and the English version uses a tidbit of extra power to do the conversion.
