I see the web wallet is up on STEPS site.  How are you planning on getting the payment gateway to work?  Will STEPS be added to a site like coinpayments or will it be a custom setup?  The online store will it be like ebay where people can put their items up for bid or like ETSY where you have a fixed price, or will the store be run by the devs only?

I didn't make any mention of my worries with the exchange before because TBH i didn't think STEPS would last this far.  But since I have already ROI'd and development seems to be humming along fairly well I feel I can express my worries now.

Don't you think 5 minute blocktimes are too slow to run an exchange on?  Look at NXT for example.  They have slower block times and their decen exchange is terrible!

Bitshares 2.0 on the other hand is very responsive.  But they have 3 second block times. Over 100x faster than STEPS block times.

Or will the exchange be centrally hosted with STEPS being the head currency like they do with DOT over at cryptopia?

IF the STEPS team could beat 3 second block times without implementing DPoS that would make the currency far more useful than BTS 2.0 is as everybody would be contributing to processing blocks versus BTS 2.0 where only 101 people are making all the money and processing all of the blocks.

Thank you for your well thought out post, will will provide some more information in due course. You did give us some food for thought and we will consider it.

We take this project very seriously and as stressed out before Steps is here for the long term.

I'm curious when these other exchanges will take in Steps.

I know the devs are pushing as hard as they can.

I trade over at Polo and talk about steps to a few people, but that place is a bit closed off for coins that aren't listed ( rightly so )

I would like to see STEPS listed on poloniex.  Really hard to get onto that exchange though.
if not on poloniex so on bittrex it will nice =)

Better die on your feet, than live on your knees
I'm curious when these other exchanges will take in Steps.

That makes two of us, I watched a conversation with some mods in the Polo box.
My feeling was that STEPS was seen in a positive light so I'm a little puzzled. But then again they are not quick,
I'm sure it will get there eventually.

is it just random/chance if a block joins with another block or if it Splits into 2 blocks???
The ones I observed so far was a 4k input split, one time 2 500 inputs fuse and one time 4 250 inputs fuse, all of them the only stake in that input size range, and all 6 1k input stakes just added the reward. Looks like a pattern but by far not enough data though, didn't observe what they were doing until 2 weeks ago. But I'm curious what the code says and were in github the part is that describes PoS. I don't know programming so I'd have a hard time finding it but am also curious what I could decipher once I know what I'm looking at it. Smiley

Just an update, altcoinsteps is not available today but will answer this question first thing when he is back.

That's one thing I can't answer but AltcoinSteps will be able to. He'll pick this up when he is on next.

My weight is dropping. i havent sent out any coins or shut off my wallet at all. why is it going down

If you are staking... Your weight is droping.

its only been going up until now. the longer i was staking the high my weight would go it only went up now all of a sudden its dropping why.

Good question.

So. Your network weight may drop if your coins reach maximum age ( not the case here ).

You weight may adjust when the network weight gets larger. The network may take control and adjust weight in order for the correct amount of blocks to be issued over a set time period.

I'll have a look and see if I can find anything else.

As long as there is a roadmap and an honest Development team which there is, we don't need to worry at all about fluctuations in price and the habits of day traders. As long as there is a core of crypto enthusiasts who will baghold to Kingdom come then no worries at all. I am waiting now for my 2nd set of STEPS babies to hatch in one day.  Smiley

As the price of steps goes down, more people have the opportunity to buy more. Equals more coins
in your wallet to stake. As was mentioned above alt coins get sold when BTC rises in price.
So people can take advantage of the price increase, and cash out. When BTC falls, then they buy
more BTC at a lower price and buy more alt coins. Seen this happen numerous times. If you are
worried about temporary price drops, then you are not a long term holder.

Thats a bit funny Smiley. I remember when BTC went down, alts were declining too (well, at least many of them), and people told here in forum - "BTC is down, all coins go down with it, everybody is suffering, people lose faith and sell alts and then BTC to cash out and save at least the part of their investment" Smiley.

Remember the tortoise, always beats the hare to the finish line. The hare is quick, but loses focus, while the tortoise does not.

Well, I would say - it depends on where the finish line is. If its close enough, hare will win Smiley

Well, saying this, I don't mean anything specific to Steps. Just sharing some observations  Grin
