Let's make a new altcoin environment.
I am now interested in two ALT Coins....

One is Steps... I like the fact I can 'mine' it with scrypt or sha256 @ SteakCloud and I am doing just that....

Similarly I like ParallelCoin  ( DUO ) It is a pure POW coin that can also be mined with scrypt or sha256.. and I also doing that...

So those are the main two coins I am interested in....  With DUO I tend to put most into a cold wallet. With Steps this makes less sense, obviously, due to the ability to get POS block rewards...

The question is this:  If I dump my steps private key and 'save' it ( like my DUO cold wallet ) will I have ALL my steps upon a complete computer crash? Or do they get stashed in hidden addresses in the wallet?

as long as you dont lose your privkey, your coins will be there

STEPS looking good - nice consolidation between 3 and 4000 sat.
when it will be on bittrex?

We are working effortlessly to get added to the bigger exchanges and hope to have more updates soon.

I think you mean tirelessly. Effortlessly means without any effort whatsoever. haha

actually a good choice of word , see http://english.stackexchange.com/questions/172148/does-the-word-effortless-imply-a-negative-or-a-positive-comment

Hi this is still confidential but in the next 5 to 14 days we will add something new to our Steps Website, it will be very innovative and will give us the chance to burn some Steps Smiley

I love the sound of decreasing the coin supply! Will it have any effect on the Steps Stake rewards that will go up to 300 Steps per stake? Will we hear anything soon about the web store?  Wink

No it will not have any effect on the staking rewards, we plan to launch the web store end November.

As for the staking thing:Almost 2 weeks ago I had 70k coins in my desktop wallet.they were divided into 2500 coin chunks(yes I know Shocked).I was getting rewards twice a day.Sadly enough I don't remember the network weight. As I was buying more coins I began to throw them in the wallet and the chunks were uneven! No rewards at all.I reorganised the wallet  of 100k coins in 10k chunks. The network weight was very big, took coins more than 24 to mature (PC always open and wallet unlocked for staking). After maturing,no rewards in 3 days and prediction of reward was more than 100 (!!!!) days.
Right now I'm not staking,as I got a little scared after Hashmaster and merl got hacked.I'm building a new PC just for staking, but untill that the coins are evenly distributed to 10 different adresses at 10 dif. places.
I just wrote all this to share my experience and give you an idea of what not to do!Hope that was helpful and not confusing.

P.S.When I get back to staking,I'll let you know of what I've done and what is the outcome!

Happy staking everybody!Go Steps!

Could you elaborate more on the right way to send coins to your wallet? Is coin piling different with every POS coin?

Why is it better to move coins into your wallet in one big chunk rather than smaller ones?

Hey man, good question.

So, I'll try to make this as simple as I can.

If you send for instance 100k coins in one chunk; you'll only find one POS block every 24 hours. Your 100k won't split and the additional pos reward will add onto the block. so your 100,000 will turn into one block of 100,050.

Now, if you send 10 chunks of 10k into your wallet, you'll have more chance of finding a block but the chance of getting one will be lower due to staking weight. Staking weight is your wallet power vs the network power. in this instance you could find 10 POS blocks every 24 hours but are less likely to find them.

Some people have sent chunks of 100 coins to there wallet. So there initial stake weight would have been very low but eventually it maximizes and you can then in theory find 100 POS blocks every 24 hours.

We are nearing the completion of our Version 1 of the forum.

Th more coins you have in your wallet the higher the stake weight, thus increasing your chances of finding a POS block.

I have 100k coins in my wallet split into 2x20k and the rest are 10k. The 20k blocks find a POS block before the 10k chunks because there power is greater than the 10k ones. Luck plays it's part in POS blocks too. My 10k blocks could in theory find 2 pos blocks before the 20k even blinks.

POS mining isn't something you want to keep changing. Put your coins in your wallet, in chunks you feel are best and then leave the wallet encrypted but unlocked.

On other POS coins I have had, I had more then double the POS blocks of other people around me in the richlist due to me optimizing my blocks.

A bit long winded but there you go lol.

Any question do let me know

Hey Devs - Just a little request.

Can you guys add into teh block explorer a little up or down arrow for each address to reflect transactions in and out? It would make it much easier to work out whether the top addresses are accumulating more STEPS when the coin dumps or whether it is them that is doing the dumping.

Thank you for the good idea, I put it on my list to discuss with altcoinsteps and will respond to your request soon.

I am not selling any STEPS lol, I am waiting now for my second batch of STEPS babies to hatch any day now. I am clicking faucets and btc sites daily as well to save up to purchase more STEPS for myself also as I donated my 10k steps to QBK asset fund so I want a few for myself as well. Wink I know this is a long term coin with intrinsic value so I will treat it accordingly. I have no time for pumping and dumping. I will just buy and hoard.  Smiley..I wrote to POLO to add it but not had reply yet. I will try and harrass some mods in POLO trollbox later. This coin SHOULD BE ON POLO.. Smiley

We are nearing the completion of our Version 1 of the forum. We decided to make some last minute changes and will update the community about progress over the weekend.

We would like this opportunity to ask for some community input and any suggestions will be much appreciated. We still have time to implement good suggestions.
I used several open source forums like SMF (this one), phpBB and Discourse. I like the latter the most and it would be nice to see something like that.
It would be even better to see you use a "homebrew" one, but I think that's not the kind of forum you are thinking of.
It also would be nice if you could choose between eg. a light and dark theme
My 2 STEPS Wink
We conducted some thorough research to see which way would be the best to achieve our goals with a new forum.

We do not completely agree with all the open source forum software or paid solutions. For that reason we are building our own platform from scratch and all our services will be offered in one platform.  We are busy with numerous tests and it takes time to finish.

We fully committed to achieve our goals and will have a secure, easy to use and modern forum.

Looking forward to it - you guys are all doing a great job, we are all behind you!

The dumping of a coin I hold a great deal off would normally concern me - but here, it really doesn't.

I will not sell today, or tomorrow or a couple of months down the line. Why would I? As time goes by the Devs will add more and more to the coin increasing its value and its desirability. Hand in hand with this the block rewards increase. I might only be getting 3 or 4 blocks a day right now - but when those blocks are worth 200+ STEPS each and STEPS is inevitably over 10,000 sat, that's when an investment now really pays off.

Too many people invested here wanting a quick pump n dump - You need to dump and cash out I'm afraid. the sooner you people sell up the sooner the coin can be redistributed to those truly interested in it.

i think effortlessly is generally used to mean you are doing something so well that it looks like you needed no effort.

Yes that is the case, as discussed in OP my expertise is marketing of over 20 years!!!

Our work never stop and we put in very long hours to make Steps a recognised brand, our main objective is that Steps go mainstream and can be used as much as possible in daily life.
