There are lot of IEO that are scam too that after their IEO schedules their coin will suddenly dump and the project facilitators will going to just disappear leaving their holders to lose their money because their coin have no value anymore. IEO and ICO are all the same investment but just different platform that could be a scam.

We heard the news of IEO to be in place of ICO in order to curb the high rate of failure and scams in the development of altcoins projects in this year 2019. My surprise is that I still see series of projects claiming to be in ICOs. Doesn't that make them scam as we have seen in the same scenarios in the past?

If it is, I wonder why people still invest whether their time or monies in such projects which have high risk of loss or being scammed.
For every thought why there are still those who invest in ICO because of the blockchain technology behind it, we certainly know that blockchain technology is a technology that can be considered an advantage in the field of financial regulation in the future. Besides investors certainly think about risk and I feel for investing with the greatest risk, I'm not sure there are still those who dare to do that and how you say it does not describe what you say is true namely "is it true that there are still those who invest in ICOs that are have a high level of scam?" .

In the near future, we'll be debating the same about the IEOs. The only difference is that for listing an ICO, the expenses were minimal. A plagiarized whitepaper, a rag-tag website and an ANN thread here was all that was needed. And the returns were in millions of USD. Those who made money then by cheating the investors have simply moved to the IEO market.

The main issue for the scammers is that they need good amounts of money on top of the stringent KYC requirements. Huobi is reportedly charging as much as $3,500,000 for a single IEO listing and from what I have heard, Binance is charging even more. So the risk is there for the scammers. Earlier with the ICOs, their expenses were less than $1,000 and the returns were 100x or even 1000x. But with the IEOs, the initial investment itself is in millions of USD.

In my opinion, most people tend to speculate on ICO or IEO in the hope that they will get a big profit when the initial listing on the exchanger. Many people are not careful and become victims of ICO scams if they do not do research first.

Maybe yes, maybe not. Depends on the project itself. IEO is not a guarantee that the project will be successful, not scam, and provide a lot of profit. ICO is also the same, although many use ICO for fraud, there are still successful ICOs and investors' interest if the project is indeed good and promising. It's just that IEO is more popular and attractive to investors today, because it gives confidence that the tokens or coins made are listed and ready to be traded.
In the past, ICO were often the most talked about topic in this market, but now most of the ICO projects have disappeared because of lack of investor trust. I think that if you choose to invest in IEO, it will be very good for your profits because IEO is an upgraded version of the ICO and if you choose a good project, the ability to earn double profits can happen in a very short time. Currently, I only invest in IEO and always consider carefully before joining

Hard to see if ICO is legit or not but I guess there is still a project which can be a good project in the future. But that will be difficult to know which project because we never know what will happen in the future. If people invest in IEO, it means the trend of ICO was changed because many investors got bad experience before so they think that the IEO can be a new solution to them.

If the IEO can be a new way to make money, I think the investor will invest in IEO, and they will leave ICO, so it means, ICO will not have support from the investor.

As long as the investor can accept the risk in that investment, I think they will be fine and will not complain if they got a scam again in someday. Only be careful that will be needed when we want to invest in the investment and only use the money which we are ready to lose in someday.

The number of legit and promising ICO projects is nowadays limited, and I agree that IEO is much better and safer for investors than ICOs, but the most important factor is the quality of the project itself, regardless it is running an ICO or IEO. If it has a good product, a detailed whitepaper, and an experienced team, then it have the potential to succeed.

Probably some, but I think there still some legit ICOs who are doing a private placement cause they are still in need of funds. Take a look on ferrum network, they didnt do any IEO but it turns out their project is very legit and worth more than some IEOs out there. Its just a matter of doing researches and more diligence. I think the only problem is the loss of trust of some investors due to previous incident of scam ICOs.

You can check their legality by doing due diligence, for example like :
  • Team Member.
  • Company Document.
  • Auditing  Result from third parties.
  • The Location Office Company.
  • Asking about the partnership there are already make, just want to be sure the partnership was real or not ( Sometimes a scam project, just put the other logo company as their partnership)
If the team cant provides this, it's mean not a good project you should avoid.

People invest because of the fear to miss the price movement if they can participate in the ICO as an early buyer. Some bad sides of the ICOs are mentioned on this thread but the main purpose is forgotten: Investors risk their monies for the making more. Other reasons are secondary and can be solved within time. Let's take another sample, the ICO with strong team can be the best choice of the sophisticated trader but these traders go for the bounty rewards which is dumped on the exchange after the promised deadline by the bounty manager.

I think project do ICO this days for 2 reasons, one is that this ICO do not have budget to go with IEO, as i know IEO required a lot of money.
Or this ICOs is scam.
That is what i think.

ICO are still legit, IEO has strategic marketing platform to attract investor through the use of a direct purchase of the token from trusted exchange, With good developer several ICOs are still succeeding, even in the bear market. Several IEO has not been successful during there launch this year, ICO success is dependenton the team and there marketing strategy

Yes ICOs are still legit looking at the reason for its introduction. Although some individuals took it upon themselves to spoil the ICOs purpose by using it to rid people of their funds but initially ICOs were for fund raising to enable project development that purpose is still legit.

The truth is not all ICO are scam, although recent events in the past with how most ICO turned out to be scam has made investors to generally run from ICO. And with IEO now, investors can't really go into investing into ICO again. IEO is safe and secure for investors

yes, it still is. and the people who still invest on ICO are the people who still hope for a good projects and if the project is successful the profit will be
phenomenal and that is what the investors are targeting.

ICOs are dead, sorry. Only IEO is gettering money in 2019

ICOs are not totally dead yet, Some ICOs were launched in 2019 and were able to raise their hard cap target, and some IEOs have not turned out to a be success. it's not about IEO or ICO, it's just about the project itself.

Yes, of course. when a project is not completed and all investment money has already been entered or used in funding the project, the money will definitely be lost and will not be returned. therefore we need to consider carefully before giving or investing our money in a program. but also I see not all ICO programs are scams, also many of the ICO programs are running successfully. because I think it all depends on the development team that runs the program. if the team is honest then I'm sure there is no program that becomes a scam and is detrimental to investors.
