When I read and understood what you said, I had the thought that if a gambler is addicted but has recovered from his addiction and is still gambling, but with a lot of experience he is able to know what the risks of gambling are and has very good control.
With everything they have, this gambling addict is able to have a strategy that can result in winning from gambling, but I am not saying that winning is certain, it just that the addict is successful in increasing the chances of winning that they will get.
This is possible because once he has recovered from his addiction, he can gamble calmly, not chase after winnings, and gamble in moderation. He was completely different from when he often gambled before in that he didn't have good self-control. His current self-control is so different from before that he will not gamble beyond his limits because he knows what will happen to him if he crosses his limits. Indeed, he cannot win more often because it will depend on his luck, but at least he can limit himself to gambling and not make gambling something that can give him money. He can treat gambling as a form of entertainment as it should be.
Is there really such a thing as recovering from a gambling addiction and still playing? I don't think so. What I think is that he gained experience by playing multiple times and he came up with some of the tricks and ideas on how he will be able to win. But the addiction will be still. If we're talking about recovering from gambling, there's no reason for a gambling addict to continue playing.

This is correct 95-98% of the time. However there are truly long term winners in sports, baccarat and poker that have withstood the test of time. Google Phil Ivey and Stu Ungar as examples.

If you have sports where people will compete against themselves over time, instead of against the casino, then you will see eventually a pattern where only a few will win more times.

This is basically the Pareto distribution, where a small number of individuals get the most amount of the "pie".

It's just luck, in the same way that Paul the Octopus was able to predict 12 out of 14 correct matches, that's being right 85.7% of the time.

Such an addictive mindset next time will win, but they do not realize that the game will be the same and the loss will be greater but this is what they do not realize.

Exactly that kind of thinking. However, when I win a bet in football, I feel very happy but do not realize that I have experienced a losing streak and can even say this is a bad day.
Actually there are too many defenses about it, wherever it will win or lose my defense is for fun, no money is really expected here in terms of income.
Winning and losing is guaranteed in the system. Addictive mindsets in gambling will only land a gambler in problem, we should focused more of our time exploring our knowledge about the system, the sectors that favours us and the ones that don't. That would served as immense aides to our struggling and solved them. Successful gamblers are addicts because they focused most of their time on the activities that generate incomes for them, which is not a wrong thing to do. We ought to give 100% time basically on the steams that foot in our bills for us, because it's definitely a rough path down here.
Unfortunately, each gambler will have this addictive mindset when they start to gamble more often and win. Their minds will focus on achieving victory, which is not easy. Maybe we can say that successful gamblers are addicts, but we also have to remember that successful gamblers can have healthier thoughts than most gamblers. Successful gamblers, even though they are addicted, can still control their addiction well and will even use their abilities to avoid excessive gambling addiction. The system in the casino is just a system that will give us a win or loss so everything will depend on us as gamblers. If we want to avoid losing a lot, we have to know when we should stop and not, based on how many wins we have to achieve, before we stop gambling.

If the gambler play the game without any rest and play the game till the money on their pocket.Such gambler was become an addict into the gambling, mostly the gambler who won huge money or who lose huge money get addicted easily. If the gambler get different idea on different day,he will do the gambling on the daily basis. The gambling can be win if you build the correct strategy,if the strategy was failed again and again. Then the gambler will try the game again and agin till he taste the success. This will leads to the gambling addiction by the gambler and the gambler get happy with the 10-20$ win for a day from the gambling. The loss also may happen on the same day with 50 dollars which doesn’t affect the mind of gambler.

At the end of the day, it's almost guaranteed that the gambler will lose all their money. It's just math.

The whole business of a casino is to make believe that the gambler has a chance to have a rich life if they gamble there.

But they know the truth very well, and they calculate the math precisely so that the casino always has an edge.

A system is clear that the only thing guaranteed is defeat and victory has been designed in such a way that it is difficult to achieve unless there is a luck factor, maybe the system that works cannot fight luck for you.
But I agree that every gambler must learn and understand every existing system so that they can always do the best for themselves in every gamble even if it only results in defeat.

I can't think or assume that a successful gambler is a gambling addict because he can use most of his time to generate income and always remember that gambling is not a place to find a source of income.
There may be some gamblers who spend most of their time in the casino but they are not necessarily able to generate income because there is capital used and when betting they do not always get a win which may not be commensurate with the previous losses that occurred.

Yes, there's a big difference between how the gambler "feels" and what the reality is.

Casinos are great at making gamblers "feel" like they are winning, when in reality they are paying a premium to stay there, giving their money away to the casinos.

It really is just logic and math. Why would a casino give away free food and drinks to someone that is extracting money from them?, that would make no sense. But the other way around?, now you have a solid business...

That's part of how the casinos run their business. Gamblers have the idea that they can come back another day and it's like a reset, when in reality it's the same as continuing playing the same day.

The amount of money paid is what matter in the end, and some gamblers will be happy when they win $10 one day, and spend it on beers celebrating, while they lose $100 another time, and get some beers anyway to drown their sorrows.

The main problem is that people don't notice how much they are losing when they get some wins in between unless someone is keeping track of all their wagers and have a record of their wins and losses and then have an estimate at the end of the month or a year. But, most gamblers don't do that and only those who are responsible gamblers will keep track of their gambling activities and how much they are winning or losing in every gambling session.

So, an addicted gambler simply doesn't even know how much they are losing because they have gotten too deep into it. As you said, winning in gambling is fun and that is what addicted gamblers see only, and they don't even see that they have gambled all their money at the end of the day.

If the gambler loss the hundred dollars, the one person of hundred entry will earning 90x of their investment. My friend using the gambling since 2011,till date he never win more then 100 dollars. The reason behind this was full because of my friend own opinion and luck factor. But he never complain on the website, because my friend is the experienced gambler. When the gambling addict get loss, they become emotional weak. Then most of the continuous bet will leads to the big loss for the gambling addicts.

Agree with you. Success in gambling of one who plays gambling does not make the person not to be addicted. Addiction in gambling is one who can't stay without playing gambling it doesn't mean if the game comes out successfully or not . One who succeeds in gambling must be addicted to gambling because I don't think it will be easy for the person to stop gambling. People get addicted to gambling because of the money involved in it, if success can make someone play gambling all time that means it is addiction.
Yeah, that's the thing. People do get addicted at gambling, because it is fun to win money basically.

And people win from time to time when gambling.

The problem is that people lose more than what they win, so it's not a great idea in the end.

Losing is part of the game, and winning is exiting,as a Gambler, prepare to always want to lose and set your mind so that it won't affect you when you lose.
I can't count how many times I have lose my money because of gambling, but I don't take it to consideration because before I played the game,I knew that losing is part of the game,If at the end of the day,you win, better, but if you lose, then you have nobody to blame. All that is needed is for one to take an appropriate risk,so that when it will favour you,it will be that you win big amount of money which will make you forget all your lose in the past.

To everyone gambling, there is a day that they will be happy, and there are days they will cry, knowing all this and building your mind towards this makes you a matured gambler.

I call those people gifted and passionate. When they succeed in a particular field, "addiction" will no longer suit them. For example, we often gamble, and people say we are addicted. But still gambling regularly and adding winning titles and prizes in gambling competitions, the words to describe us would be completely different.
Another more realistic example. If you gamble, the win will be yours. Then your wife will say you're great. Conversely, if you always lose, your wife will call you an addict.
There are not many talented people, so only those who are lucky can win, while other people only experience loss, and what's worse, many of them end up addicted to gambling. While talented people can win, they will not experience gambling addiction because they can control themselves so as not to be easily tempted by what they see. They better quit immediately after getting that win and not come back for the next few days.

Meanwhile, people who often gamble do not mean they are already addicted, but maybe they are starting to like gambling more so that if they don't realize it, it will gradually become an addiction. But if they can prevent it, they will not get addicted to gambling even though they like gambling.

I wish I could have posted this in a more better place but since the thoughts came from gambling addiction, I thought it wise to ask this question over here and I hope we can discuss and get this straight.
you have posted in perfect section mate so don't mind anything.

Just as the tittle already ask, I really want to know if people who are successful in gambling also seen as addicts because I believe  for one to be successful in gambling or whatever they choose to do, there must be some good amount  of time and effort invested in it as well as money and we know that a successful  gambler must have invested  both time, effort and even money to make any reasonable  winning  and these also are features of an addict as there are always excessive time spent on a betting site.

Now let's be sincere, will you also classify a successful gambler as an addict?
there are two kind of addiction in gambling mate ..

- The one that continuously losing but keep on coming (accepting that he is a loser)

- The one that is good in gambling meaning some experts and yes a successful gambler.

they are both addict but in different ways .

Yes I agree with this, simply put people who gamble are addicted, but I think the addiction factor can be measured, how often they go there to gamble and how rarely they do it, it can be a benchmark for us to see whether they are already addicted at a high level or still below average. There is no denying that winning is their main goal why they always come to gamble.

True, everyone has their own amount to lose in gambling, some may only lose some of their pocket money and some may lose everything they have and not infrequently make their economy and family fall apart. Therefore, the truth is that even if you have the excuse that you are doing it for fun, it is still basically an addiction but in a low level, so it does not mean that you should continue doing it, and there is nothing better unless you stop doing it because it will only create new problems for your life.

Yeah, but with gambling the problem is that even with a single visit to the casino you can end up in financial ruin.

That's not very common in other addictions. Maybe heroine addiction, where just a single time might ruin your brain for the future.

Whereas most other drugs like alcohol for example require a longer time to get into an addiction or a really negative experience.

I like your realistic thinking which means its all about money even wife would also say professional gamblers are not addicts when it comes to big wins. Roll Eyes

a gambling addict who has other talents such as developing a business or even developing his gambling talent to take part in gambling competitions to win prizes so that this talent will cover his addiction. but I would agree more if this addict has a healthy mind even though it is very difficult but if the will is big they will definitely be able to get through it, such as opening any business to get bigger results than in gambling.
