Almost everyone could've got this feeling atleast once. Whether the loss is big or small, when we loss the fund that is more important we used to think not to gamble anymore. For God's sake we won't follow it. Some get into it and loss more the very next day. With some gamblers it'll last for few weeks or months. After that they'll be the same as what they were previously. This is all about the addiction that gives them the hope of making little or big money out of gambling.

I did it many times back when my addiction is very high, I promise not to gamble after I lose a big amount I even swear that I will not, but the following day I'm back even promising to be better and not lose a big amount again.

How many of us are guilty of this?
You just referring to me with this post which you just created, have tried to quit gambling so many times but at the end I still go back to it, sometimes am always setting limits for myself, but with time I will end up exceeding the limit, i don’t really know the spirit that’s in gambling, whenever i want to stop gambling, i will end up being pushed to go back to gambling and at the end I will end up losing money, and I will be regretting why I went back to gambling. even if i will be starting with just little amount, then with time I will end up increasing the amount I am gambling with. My addiction is not really high in gambling but sometimes I will want to stop gambling completely, but am always finding it difficult to do.

Well, I think this is something Probably every gambler out there is in one way or the other guilty of, personally, I am not addicted to gambling, but I am guilty of this for several occasions I can't even count anymore, but the thing is, for those occasions, it always have been small amount of money involved, since I've been an average gambler for as long as I remember.

How it does happen is that, assuming I had plans of only gambling with $50, but end gambling with $100 and losing everything, I will out of anger and frustration declare that I will no longer gamble for the whole month, but only to discover that by tomorrow or next, I am back at it, but then, something happened, for the first time I had the balls to wager over $3000 on a sports betting, and lost, I declared I wasn't going to gamble for 6 months or more, and for over 6 months, I did not actually gamble, so it all depends on how much important the money lost is.

I was guilty of this when I first started. And one the reasons I kept going back was because if my friends. They seem to come only on days when I will be less busy and have some free time on my hands and the best way to pass the time then was to gamble. I guess over the course of a while, maturity kicked in and I developed some discipline and responsibility towards my gambling. So whenever I catch myself almost "relapsing" I call myself back to order.

Have some guilt with this one since I also go beyond my budget and still continue to gamble. Well, maybe this is just part of human being and as long as you are not addict and you can still control yourself most of the time, I think this should be fine. Gambling is very attractive, if you have spare time and money why not, just make sure you become more responsible day after day, soon you’ll practice discipline perfectly.

We are all guilty of this and the poll shows that it is, we are guilty because gambling has become our habit and old habits will not just die down, we easily forget because we love the excitement we are challenged to make a profit.

I'm guilty of this in the past when I still have a huge number of BFG I want to wager more and stake more so I can have a huge number of BFG to stake and every time I lose a big portion and promise not to play for a week I easily forget and the excitement gets the best of me, of all the promise I made, I can easily break this one.

I believe most of us are guilty of this habit at one point in our gambling life.
But we should always assess our situation and check our status so we won't face so much trouble.
Because if we let our desires to win, definitely, more problems will arise from our stubbornness.
And before we know it, we already lost a huge chunk of our bankroll and we can't go back to where it was.
This is why I always set an amount that I can use for gambling, so I know my limits even before the game starts.

I'm a thousand time guilty of this and the very incidence that came first to my head was the one that I almost got rejected in my family and I had to swear even in the name of God  but ended up failing all of those promises as soon as I get a better reason to fall back to gambling.
Addiction is a very strong force and it's most times very difficult  to detect and at such it grows so deep before finally been discovered  and it will take so much effort to correct  what it has done and can do.

There have been days of very serious losses that all you ask for in your prayers in the fortitude to bear the loss and we make silly promises to stop gambling but end up gambling again and u wouldn't  have to blame anyone because everyone  wants to be a boss and work independently.

When you have experienced what it feels like to win a bet and are addicted to it, then your urge to gamble is even higher than before. You can promise yourself or anyone else to never gamble again, but in the end your urge to gamble will be very difficult to control.

I think most people have the same problem, but I think it's just because they're too stressed out with real life. They need fun and peace of mind, so spending a little money to have fun on a particular game is worth it, but definitely not to make money.

Of course it's part of the process but it will not take days or weeks before you can control your emotions, you'll surely have these kinds of scenarios. I did my way in the past as well and mostly it was to chase losses but in the end this greediness just only lead to more losses until you're out of money to suck on your pocket.

I believe that each of us builds his own life, and most of the mistakes we make are our own fault. No one is forcing you to gamble, you choose what to do in your free time. As I understand you are aware that you have problems with gambling, since after the next big loss you promise yourself to quit gambling. I can't understand why you don't seek help from specialists if you don't have enough willpower to control yourself and your desires?

I think @OP has already gotten rid of being addicted on gambling.  Since he stated the experience was way back when his gambling addiction was very high.  He did use past tense meaning he gotten over that addiction.

I think everyone who got hooked on gambling experiences the same kind of urge to go back and engage in gambling activity again after a series of losses.  I also experience such a thing when I promised myself to not engage in gambling activity the following week, and yet I found myself playing and enjoying my gambling session.  It is really hard to resist the temptation of gambling especially when we had experienced huge winnings.  It needs a lot of self-control and strong will in order to combat the urges that keep us engaging in gambling.  The thing that I do to control that urge is by keeping myself busy with other things.

That's inevitable because you're in a gambling related campaign and you are regularly interacting with fellow gamblers in the gambling section. No matter how many times you promise yourself not to gamble anymore, but here you are in this thread scanning through betting techniques, predictions, and odd analysis, you will most probably going to be tempted to place a bet again. That alone is a simple fact of why you keep coming back other than your urgency to gamble.
Gambling addiction is worse than you thought, because these people won't stop gambling until they run out of money and run out someone they could ask to borrow from.

He is trying to quit thats why there is a promise. It is however not going along with him because he is exposed to casinos all the time just like us who are into casinos in the forum.

I wouldn't really promise not to gamble while I'm here. But I'm guilty in promising not to go play a particular game but still comes back to playing lottery and dice from time to time.

Dont wait until the time comes that you would really be losing everything or on the time that you had already spent up your life savings because of gambling. If the money you used is really just to those funds which are allocated for gambling then it should be fine but if you are already that compromising your daily expenses budget or simply your day to day budget then this is where problem would start.
You do really have that kind of severe addiction which is something that you should really be cutting on. Good thing that you've been aware on whats happening to you.

Here's some possible things that you can do.

1. Avoid gambling apps and sites as much as you do
2. Find some physical activity which would really distract you on playing again.Usually you would be minding on doing gambling if you are bored.
3.  Let your wife handles all the funds and would never be handling one
4. Self-control and discipline

If you dont have that control then you would definitely be ending up on playing again and again.

I used to lose, too. It was more than once and the amounts were quite large, but I was able to change my perception of gambling and learned to control myself. Try to limit your spending and gamble less often than you are used to doing. I'm sure it will do you good.

I personally have never done this in gambling, because thankfully, I am not addicted to gambling. But I understand very well how many people experience similar things, like this, even every day. And indeed most of them are those who are really addicted to gambling. Gambling addiction has many effects, especially negative effects for sufferers. However, you should be grateful for at least having the awareness to stop, even though the next day you still keep repeating it. This may be a natural thing that is always a heavy temptation for gambling addicts who want to stop, it's too heavy. However, keep trying every day, later maybe it will really stop someday .. at least, you can manage yourself to be much better in gambling, and always try to manage and control your desire in gambling..
 Good luck...

as i posted in another post about gambling regrets, i have never been feeling guilty about it, profit or loss is a normal thing in gambling, if you are guilty of having done gambling then there is something wrong with you, besides it really doesn't make sense if you regret it when gambling, do you not use cold money when playing gambling?  remember that using emergency money or the only money that you have right now is something that can make you continue to be guilty when gambling, so don't use that kind of money anymore.

I'd had that slip-up happen most of the time before because I used to prioritize winning too much and sometimes get distracted by the bets of other gamblers. Instead of skipping a day or two, i'd even be tempted by the promotions that some sites send through my inbox. Anyway, that was years ago, and now it's easy for me to cut off these urges since I have rules that I follow when I gamble, and I constantly remind myself to look back at my previous mistakes in case i'm close to doing it again.

I am also guilty @OP  Grin.   There are really times when we get hook to gambling especially when we are getting a winning streak.  It feels like we can beat any casino during that time, even though we tell ourselves that we will keep the whole winnings and will not use it to bet on another casino but just an hour after the thought, I find myself depositing part of the amount I won and started playing in another casino.  The same thing happen when I am on a losing streak.  Since it is frustrating if we lose all our bankroll, we often promised that we will take a break for months but just a week later when funds comes in, we found ourselves trying to recover our losses even though we know that chasing losses is a bad thing.

So far I cannot remember myself feeling guilty since I also cannot remember promising myself to stop gambling. Even before becoming a regular online gambler I already gambled a lot most of the time thru peer to peer betting. And despite my regular betting, I am also very aware of my financial situation. It enables me to always limit my bets to amounts I can only afford to lose.

There were times when I stopped gambling but mostly because I became too busy at work or other interesting stuff occupied my free time.
