Many gamblers then become wiser in gambling, but some continue to gamble even though they have made a promise. It depends on him; somehow, he can forget what he said before, and that's normal.
That can't be avoided when it's like a normal thing for most of the gamblers that have dealt with promising to themselves that will stop after they gamble for the day.

Gambling addiction can be cured, but it depends on each person. And it also takes effort and strong intention to cure gambling addiction; if necessary, he can ask the people closest to him to help him to cure his gambling addiction.
It can be cured and there's hope for those that are addicted but it will take time on how they'll be able to overcome addiction. As someone who deals with gambling addiction, you can't help yourself alone but if you did then you deserve a round of applause.

That is one of the strongest signs of gambling addiction and there are not levels of addiction. You gradually become addicted to gambling and then you are addiction... period. If you cannot resist the temptation to gamble, then you have a gambling addiction problem and then you need to seek help for that.

After you received help for the gambling addiction, you have to stay away from it for the rest of your life... not dive into it again and hope that you would be able to control it.  Roll Eyes

I did it many times back when my addiction is very high, I promise not to gamble after I lose a big amount I even swear that I will not, but the following day I'm back even promising to be better and not lose a big amount again.

How many of us are guilty of this?

When I was younger I had similar problems, it was hard to stay away from the casino the next day after a big loss. Sleeping a night off changes the perspective completely and my brain kept telling me that I need to go back to recover my losses. Unfortunately this lead in some cases to even more losses and I rarely managed to recover my money. But I got used to my behaviour and tricked myself to not follow the same pattern again. The best thing to do for me was to spend the day outside as much as possible, a few hours in nature helped me to calm my mind and I don't gamble on my phone so I need to be home to play again. Today it became a bit more easy to control myself, as most casinos have a panic button now. With one single button we can log ourselves out from the casino fro 24 hours with no chance of coming back. It's a great feature that I always use after a big loss, I just know that I need to take a break for several hours and with that button I can't change my mind again.

What   I do understand that almost every gambler that I knew (including me) have this attitude at least in the past ,  because like Liquor , when we are drunk and having Hang over? we tend to say that we will not be drinking again but ending? just day after , here becoming drunk again.

This is same thought in Gambling , when we lose all our money as the word "I HATE GAMBLING" is in the end of our tongue but not for long because once we accumulate funds again? there gamble is in the first of our list lol.

I know that Majority of us can relate in this and admit it or not? that is what gambling made us through the years.

Most of the gamblers go through this situation, I have been many times too, promise not to play after losing too much but come back again when the profit is high. Many people have this addiction some can quit and some can't. Even if you lose that amount, there is a gambling problem. Many have asserted that the loss forced him to play more judiciously because he enjoys the game as entertainment. Gambling addiction usually depends on yourself, so try to avoid your own mistakes. Gambling addiction is at such a stage that it becomes difficult to keep any promises made.
Many gamblers then become wiser in gambling, but some continue to gamble even though they have made a promise. It depends on him; somehow, he can forget what he said before, and that's normal. Well, that's the half truth because a gambler never becomes wiser by doing the gambling thing over and over. A wise person never breaks the promises that he make and a wise person isn't a gambler. On the other hand a person who loves entertainment is most likely a proper person to be called as a gambler because such people spend their money on gambling in a way that it seems like the money has no value for them and their addiction could cost them huge sacrifices in doing that.

The gambler if gets discipline can control his/her addiction to some extent, but still totally getting relieved from this addiction is close to impossible unless you have true loved ones who care for you more than your own self. In that case a gambler can give up on gambling and may never look back at the gambling thing. But, on the other hand, the gamblers who win most of the time are never gonna give up on the habit because they are generating good income from it and giving up on it doesn't makes sense for those guys.

It's common for everyone to feel, it doesn't just happen to you, I myself also experienced the same thing, but I don't swear, I just talk to myself and get annoyed when I lose a bet, that's human nature in general, after they lose and regret, they don't want to be involved in gambling anymore, the fact is that all that is felt when they lose at gambling, the next day repeat and bet again.

I think the world of gambling is like the world of hypnosis, while they are aware they regret what happened, but when the hypnosis comes back, they forget what happened yesterday, that's human.

I admit, I'm also guilty of it before but for me, it's not really a big deal since I don't gamble big amounts of money. When you're in the moment of enjoying gambling and you continue it for a few days, it's kinda hard to stop. Just like now, I've been enjoying sports betting lately and I've been betting for the past few days continuously (but I only spend small amounts per bet and I don't go overboard with what I've allocated). I don't think I can make promises right now of not betting for a specific day since I'm enjoying it.
Normally, it's hard to resist the temptation when it comes to gambling. But as long as you can still control the amount you spend and won't go over the limit you've set it's not a big deal.

But the problem here is between gambling addicts to make money or just looking for entertainment, if gambling addicts are looking for profit they will continue to come back after regretting the reason of chasing losses before but for gambling addicts just looking for entertainment they will never regret it or he always comes back even though he loses money before because money lost is money that can afford to lose.

That feeling is normal especially when you exceed on intended budget you set which you can let go. But for sure this regret is not at that point that they think about quitting since for sure once they see their friends or people they know for sure they still gamble tomorrow or maybe later on again. Losses is not the factor why these people think to quit but rather it somehow inspire them to revenge back and try to earn back their money.

I am not guilty of this but I know of people that are guilty of it. I am an inconsistent gambler and one thing about me is whenever I win,I give myself some time before I gamble again by then I would have used the money I won to take care of myself and enjoy.
Also whenever I lose I still stay out of gambling for sometime before I join again.
So I have never being addicted before unless other people may define my way of gambling as addiction but I sure know that I am not addicted unless I pretend to be.

I'm pretty sure that every gambler must have gone through that phase several times in their lives, everyone might not get back just the other day, but after a few days when the loss gets over your mind and you seem like nothing happened or whatever happened is gone now, you get back again and tell yourself that you won't repeat the same mistakes again that you did last time which is most of the times chasing your losses.

I personally have done this many times, I've tried recovering my losses and in that process of increasing my bets, I used to lose everything and become angry and frustrated and said to myself that this was the last time I gambled and won't do it ever again, but not more than a week later, I'm back again Grin.

A lot. I'd say a good amount of beginner gamblers here and out are guilty of not following through with their gambling plans, myself, in the past included. There's just something about ridding yourself of that brain itch that is a little cathartic to say the least, even if you're not gambling to win. That's when I know I'm just in too deep at this point and I need to break the habit or I'll become addicted to gambling, which I did and from there, things just went a little better.

My advice for when people feel the need to gamble in inopportune moments, or maybe just when you said to yourself you wouldn't gamble just yet cause you dried your bankroll pretty hard from last session's play, is to touch grass. Go out and socialize with people, visit your local pub and have a few chat with the old men that are in there, if you're not into drinking go see your parents or your relatives, rid yourself of your electronics as that will urge you to gamble later down the line even if what you just did initially is scroll a little on facebook.

If you are a good gambler, you need to discipline yourself. Discipline is very important for you not to lose more than you are expecting. This has happened to me in gambling before, but it is just an addiction which you have known and need to stop doing.

In life, do away with greed, learn how to control your emotion and completely discipline yourself.
Why do you think you need to discipline yourself if you're a good gambler ? I don't understand. If you are good at gambling, you don't need to gamble less, it would the same thing as saying if you are a good worker you need to discipline yourself. Usually people say it's better to work harder they don't say it's better to work less.  Gambling is bad for people losing money but if you are able to make money, it's not a bad thing for you IMO.
Discipline would be always needed. No matter how good you are, it is gambling we are talking about. In gambling, winning is uncertain. You could be good at it such as winning more often in comparison with other players but if you're unlucky, then you'd lose. Indeed there are people who makes huge money out of this industry but before they got into such situation, they have lost huge amount of money as well during the process and for sure even at the present. If they won't be disciplined enough, their huge winnings would be eventually consumed. Risk would be a part of daily life for gamblers. Know when to stop and when to continue in order to manage the risk of true gambling addiction.

Money is the bottomline which makes gambling a powerful activity. Frustration and greed may take place causing danger to one's savings or future life I guess. Think of how many gamblers who ended up selling their properties because of their greed from playing and wanting to take back all of their losses.

It has not happened to me, Thank God. Because I consider I am completely under control when comes to gambling and drinking. I am both a social drinker and a social gambler, most of the time, all is better with the company of the right people.

So, I have not reached a point I have promised anything and ended up breaking a promise made to myself or others.  Though, I can easily understand how others can be in a situation where addiction have taken over their mind and can't think of anything but chasing losses or on the tiny possibility of getting enough money for them to fix all the problems they have.

Be strong people, and get help if you think you need it.  Sad

This is true addiction, and I'm one amongst. I've lost big and I've made promises several times, but I wasn't able to keep my promises. I'm filled with guilty feeling, because the person to whom I've promised believed in me and stands in all down moments without making any question. Atleast for that reason I should change my gambling activities, and I've decided to spend a small amount every month. This I'll spend on a particular day and never gets back to the platform for that month.
Don't be so hard on yourself my friend, if there be one thing I must tell you , it would be the fact that you are not alone, whatever you think you are going through and have done, some persons somewhere are going through worster things and have done somethings that we way worst than what ever you  think you have done, when it comes to making promises to ourselves, or Maybe a friend or relative, to stop gambling, and then later on going to it, it is something I believe almost every gambler is guilty of, expect for a gambler who has never been addicted, like myself, I've never been addicted to gambling, but there have been times when I promised myself I won't gamble, but still end up gambling for one reason or the other, no body is perfect, we all are work in progress.

when a person promises not to play on certain days and then keeps breaking the promise and keeps playing then that person is going through a serious psychological problem, which is called gambling addiction, that person is dependent on gambling and after breaking what he promised, that person starts to have regrets, this is the serious stage of the addiction, in my case, when I say that I won't play for months I don't play, I only place bets on certain days like weekends in two games or in rare cases more than 2 games because I place in a multibet bet

I also always give bets breaks, something like I go 1 or 2 or 3 months without making sports bets, I also adopt the system of only placing bets on weekends and in a few games, I do this to have self-control because gambling it is something that easily makes people addicted, and when a person is addicted and does not recognize early on that he is sick and needs help, that person will only get help when he is already at the bottom and with little chance of healing. that's why I advise people to stick to planned dates so they don't play, and it's important to have self-control so they don't get addicted
You would be able to find out for yourself whether you are addicted to gambling or just playing it casually or on the time that you do seek out for leisure and entertainment. This is everything would really be depending or basing up on your own self control because not all people would really be that good on controlling themselves on which this is the main reason on why people do really keeps on coming back despite on telling into themselves that they would be needing some break. This do really signifies that you are addicted to gambling and this is something that really needs to be controlled on. Its not really that bad to gamble out as long you do make yourself that responsible when it comes to your actions. We know that when it comes to gambling then money would really be spent out
and there's no way that you could really be able to avoid on losing. This is why it would be always important on having that kind of discipline and control when it regards to your money
or finances on which you shouldnt really be breaking up those limits or boundaries because if you do then this is where problem do start.

Nice to see at least someone had been able to solve the gambling addiction problem, hopefully, you will never go back same old days to gamble more. Setting a specific budget and sticking to the quit gambling plan sounds hard but there are so many success stories of people who have been able to do so. I suggest using specific gamble block software and using Excel sheets to write down gambling hours to keep tracking. Never go back and repeat same mistakes.
