As a gambler and a die-hard fan of a club that has been having a terrible season, would you bet against your club, knowing that their loss would be your financial gain? Or would you stay loyal and not bet against them?
There are two options, one is putting the money first and betting against them if the money and the odds is something good, that is if you do not care much for your club. It will be foolish to bet on your team to win, when you clearly know they are doing badly. The next option is to just completely avoiding any game that your team is playing if you love them too much and feel like you will be betraying your loyalty to them betting against them, no need to bet, so you do not have to make a choice. You can bet on other teams and still make your money.

In my case, here in my country we do not have a very successful national selection on football. So it would be likely they would lose against any other team of world fame, like Argentina, Chile, Colombia, France, Germany, etc..

I would rather not to bet against my own team, I would skip the match or I would bet on my teams favor, but with a modest amount of money, so in case of them losing, it would not hurt my pocket very much. Here in Venezuela, we can be quite proud of our team when it manages to give small victories to us from time to time.  Smiley

Same with me. As a sign of respect to my favorite team. I’d rather skip betting than bet against them since it’s really painful to watch the game while wishing your favorite team lose just to win your bet.

There’s a lot of available matches that we can bet. We can always skip on bets that we don’t like rather than keep betting even on the match that we are uncomfortable due to our favorite team is the underdog. I rarely play on sportsbook but if our national team will play against strong team, I will just watch the game without any bet placed to enjoy and support at the same time.

Odds and activity should be the reason.

Unless, I have a good odds and want to do stupid things or YOLO. Even my team underdogs, we are still gonna to bet anyway but most of "Sportbet" user are quite being neutral for the topic of  betting.

That's why, they have more advantage rather than casino player.

Would betting that they would lose count as not against your club? You know like putting money on your favorite club plus some handicap? I do that sometimes and I personally have no guilt whatsoever if I win even though they lost hehe.

I have nothing against those extremely loyal fans but they should probably stay out of gambling when their team sucks. They can still support the team by buying tickets or team apparels.

I'm not really a die hard type of fan so I just bet on whoever I think will win the game. I bet for the purpose of winning and not by whom I like. But if I'm in a situation where I'm a die hard fan of a club and it seems that they are not performing well against the opponent, I'd either won't bet or will still bet for my favorite club. Cause a die hard fan is different from a casual fan so it would be hard on you to vote for someone against your favorite. I'd probably have a hard time with my emotions whether I'll be happy that I won the bet or sad for my favorite team losing.

As a gambler and a die-hard fan of a club that has been having a terrible season, would you bet against your club, knowing that their loss would be your financial gain? Or would you stay loyal and not bet against them?

It is true that we are always passionate about our clubs and always want them to win but gambling is all about the money. We play gambling for fun but nobody wants to lose his bet also. There is no way I will keep betting on a team that is underperforming and is likely to make me lose my stake. In the case of Chelsea, I will never be driven by club loyalty when placing my bets because the club is out of shape and needs help. But it is usually more interesting to bet on your club that is doing well and willing is always exciting.

Yeah I think I always put my bet in my favorite team or fighter even though the chance to beat the other team or fighter is low, but it doesn't matter because I will not regret when my favorite team or fighter is lose. Why we need to bet against our favorite team or fighter? I would be very sad and regret in the same time. But if my favorite team or fighter is almost has no chance to beat it's opponent, I would skip it.

I guess you will not continue betting on a team like Chelsea, who has become a cheap team to every team in the English Premier League. It will mean that you will keep wasting your money. It is better to endure their losses alone than to combine them with the loss of your money.

...would you bet against your club, knowing that their loss would be your financial gain? Or would you stay loyal and not bet against them?

I typically place my bets based on the odds rather than my personal preference for a certain team. After all, gambling is a separate realm from fandom. However, there are occasions where I do bet on my favorite team even if the odds are not in their favor. This is because having a deeper understanding of my favorite team can pay off in the end. The more I know about my favorite team, the better chance I have of predicting their success. The odds of winning are better when you bet on the underdog. And if you are a fan of your favorite team, then it makes sense to root for them even if they do not have the best chance of winning.

I am not a very fanatical, but I watch some matches of my favorite team with a beer for pleasure. Naturally, I also have an idea about the current situation of the team. If the team I'm supporting is performing bad and I stumble upon a really good odds opportunity, it's often the case that I bet on the opposing team's odds of winning. Considering that I do not support this team fanatically, it is not very sad for me to lose that match in situations like these, because I earn snacks and beer money for the next match. In summary, if my favorite team is performing bad and has a potentially losing match, I don't hesitate to bet on the opposing team's victory. Also, if the team I support loses this match, I'm not too upset.

If you're an avid fan you'd more likely go with a do-or-die but if you are just into gambling and winning, you'd be biased with the other team if they have the bigger chance to win. It all depenxs to the gambler's mindset.
I think it will depend on our fanaticism for the club because if we want to use the moment to our advantage, we will probably bet against your club, especially if our club's opponents are better than ours. It would be a loss if we chose our club when the opponent was stronger.

But some people will stay loyal and not bet against them. And some just watch the game and don't gamble because they don't want to see that loss. I don't know about people, but if it were me, I would rather not bet and not watch it because it hurts to see our club lose.
Neither are wrong to do so. Not all gamblers are just seeking for profit and some are just supporting their biased teams regarless of the outcome. On my end, whenever I am not assure of the odds of winning, I tend to just watch and avoid betting. Indeed profit is important but being a fan is another thing. Atleast entertainment will be fulfilled but if you are interested to gamble, then selecting a team would be fine to do so even if it contrasts with your initial expectations.

would you bet against your club, knowing that their loss would be your financial gain? Or would you stay loyal and not bet against them?

days ago there was a real madrid game against manchester city, it was a champions league game, i'm a fan of real madrid. I support real madrid but when it comes to placing sports bets I have to be people who know how to separate feelings because I analyze the data of the two teams, for example I had to analyze which of the two teams has the best squad, clearly that the answer is manchester city, which of the two teams has the better defense and attack, clearly it is manchester city, so the deeper I got into data collection the greater my inclination was to bet on manchester city, and it does not mean that I would be against real madrid, that's not it.

my intention when I place a bet is to make a profit, of course, one should not think that  Gambling are things to obtain profits, it is nothing like that, but whenever I have the intention of placing a bet on a game I analyze the game with the the objective of making a profit, there is nothing to put feelings on, but when it is a game in which I will not place a bet, then I keep watching and supporting the team of which I am a fan, by that I mean that it is necessary to know how to separate things, one should not bet in any emotion-based team, this is the worst mistake of all, as soon as the person does this he is doomed to lose everything in the short and long term

We are fans of different football clubs, and whenever there is football banter, we never fail to take sides with our respective clubs. We stand by them no matter what because that's what being a fan of a football club is all about - unwavering loyalty. However, not all of our favorite clubs perform well. A typical case study is Chelsea, who have had one of their worst performances this season, currently occupying the 11th position. The challenges they have faced this season are unlike any other. Just last night, they were brutally defeated by Manchester United, who showed them no mercy, to the extent that they didn't even celebrate one of their goals.

As a gambler and a die-hard fan of a club that has been having a terrible season, would you bet against your club, knowing that their loss would be your financial gain? Or would you stay loyal and not bet against them?
I have a slightly different opinion and attitude towards football and football clubs, because I don't consider myself a fan of one single team. I root for one or the other, depending on the current opponents, positions in the standings and just some moments, such as the team's perseverance and desire to win. I am pleased to watch the football process itself and enjoy the spectacle. Therefore, my answer to your question will be peculiar.

I would lightly bet against a team I sympathize with for financial gain. And that's why. Any bet is always aimed at making a profit, not a loss. There is no place for sentimentality, favorite teams and other nonsense in any bet. Only cold calculation works here: I bet money - I want to win. If I saw that I could break a good jackpot by betting against my favorite team, I would not hesitate to do it, ignoring all my emotional experiences.

Betting should not be mixed with club loyalty to avoid conflicts of interest. If all the same mixed, then act for the purpose of obtaining benefits, ignoring sentiment.

I'm not the type of person who is careless enough to keep betting on my favorite team even seeing that their performance was quite bad that season. I have to be more rational looking at the existing conditions - even though it's my favorite team - as happened during the 2022 EPL season when Manchester United's performance was so bad I was reluctant to bet on them. I'm not blaming those who keep betting on their favorite team in all conditions, but it's just unwise to waste your money on something that could have been avoided.

Fan always defend the club or the athlete and even find an excuse whenever they fail.
But if the discussion is about making money, for a gambler they side who would likely win and they just have to look at which one has the advantage.

The reality is that a club also lose fans whenever they constantly lose. We're attracted to winners.

It will be wrong to be a gambler if you are using your emotions when it comes to betting. That's the path to losing more money so it should not be done.
Bet for the team with high chance to win and not because you are a fan. This is why many football fans are losing a lot of money in gambling because they do this kind of emotional bet.
I would bet against them if ever I see an opportunity for a profit but if my instincts tell me they will win even if they are underdogs then I shall take it too.

It's very rare that I bet against my favorite team I only did it once, there is a thing called upset and every team or fighter always has a chance so it is hard to accept betting against your team and your team happens to win by upset so if you think you are ok losing money then go for your favorite team a die-hard will go down and go up with the team he is rooting whatever happens or whatever standing or rank his team has.
If you are betting against the team in which you are a die-hard fan then you cannot be considered a die-hard fan, a die-hard fan will not see his team losing but if you cannot keep it better to just let the team play cheer for them and don't bet.

I have not done so a lot of times but a couple of times I did and I will do it again in the Uefa Champions League final.I am a fan of Inter as I have worked in Italy some years ago and used to love this team and got to go to the stadium at least once a month, now I am in another country and I always watch their games from TV but this time I am going to bet against them and even in Asian Handicap because they simply cannot keep up with the mean machine that Manchester City is.

So 99% I don't bet against them but there is this 1% like in this case where betting against them is allowed  Grin.

Gambling involves taking a risk that involves money and sentiment apart thus I won't consider the fact that I am an ardent fan of a particular club in  placing my bet instead I place or gamble based on current form of any particular club for instance as an Arsenal fan if my club plays against Man City I always pick Man City to win ahead of my club because I place a bet based on past records between my team and the opponent and the current form of my team, though in many cases I do not place a bet if I knew my club isn't going to win a match that they stand no chances of winning in solidarity with my club.
