I would not dare bet against them if I see an opportunity to make money. Just like the Golden State Warriors, I am a big fan of them but when injuries happen and Steph Curry or Klay Thompson will not play then I might bet for the other team instead for them. I don't mind, I am not that hardcore fan that will put my money at risk just because of my emotions.
That's the difference between a gambler and a fan. You don't let your emotions stop you from betting against the team that you like, in any sport, football, baseball, boxing, etc...
I also love betting for the underdogs so even if the favorite is the team I like, I'd rather try to make money first. It's not like they will know that we ain't supporting them at that time just because of our bets.  Wink

As a gambler and a die-hard fan of a club that has been having a terrible season, would you bet against your club, knowing that their loss would be your financial gain? Or would you stay loyal and not bet against them?
This has already happened to me, and to be honest I always support my football club. My club is ranked 1st in my country and is already strong so it's difficult to believe that they will be defeated. However, in international cups it becomes challenging. I would remain loyal to my club even if we were facing teams like Real Madrid or Manchester City. I always have hope that we will win the game no matter what.

Realistically, it's quite difficult to win against one of the best teams in the world but I would never bet against my team. You might call me crazy, but I just love my football club too much and I attend almost all of their games during the season.

Gambling is a business, supporting a football isn't a business. You're not been paid to support a club and the club mightn't know you. If I know my club can't defeat a particular team and I know they'll will lose to them, there's nothing wrong for me trying to make money from their loss.

You already know youI'll suffer in the hands of the opposition club. So since I can't get the joy of winning let me get some money to buy myself some bear. You gamble to make money and if you're a frequent gambler, you will never bet for your club to win when you know your club can't win.

You already know the club that your team are playing against.Since you can't intentionally make yourself to lose just because of the club you're supporting, I think the same should apply to betting against them. When gambling always try to win not lose intentionally.

Of course. It is one thing if I want my team to win, and another if I believe, on the basis of the most rational thinking possible, that my team will lose, and I bet accordingly. Besides, if I do that, if my team loses, I win money and if my team wins, I have lost the bet but at least my team has won, so I don't see a problem.

That 'loyalty' you talk about is rubbish, besides the fact that it is impossible for your team to win all the time.

As a gambler and a die-hard fan of a club that has been having a terrible season, would you bet against your club, knowing that their loss would be your financial gain? Or would you stay loyal and not bet against them?

It really depends on the situation and where my favorite team is up against as not all Dominant are always bound to win. There are times that I want to stay loyal to my favorite team and trust them with my money because my analysis tells me that there's a reason to believe that. For example, my favorite team is listed as the underdog but regardless, I'm sure that they can show up something to their sleeves to upset the listed favorite.

Besides, it's worth putting money on Moneyline on a favorite team of mine if they are having a terrible season. It means expect some high odds.

It's just about proper timing on placing money at these worst teams. It's impossible that throughout the season, they can't list at least few wins.

Well, business is business. There isn't any cons on betting against your club, as the objective here is to predict who is going to win and not to cheer for one team or another.
Exactly.

The club owners and members and other fans won't even get mad at you just because you see the odds is better than the opponent and you think that your favorite club will lose this day. People wouldn't even care if you lose, so why care for the thoughts of others since you're not even associated with the entire club and you're just the same as the others for being a fan.

Moreover, from a wider perspective, let's imagine the fans of a team bet against their club, and use the profit made with this bet to help their team financially on the next season, so the club could hire superior players and support staff to improve the team's performance.

That would be crazy, but still practicable, right?
Yeah crazy. These are like the die hard fans but that's out of scope and you're not obligated to do such for the club as they've got sums of budget per season and per contract of their hired people whether the staff or the players.

But to show support with the money you've won, you're free to do that and no one can stop you unless they think it's inappropriate or harsh for them.

at the end of the day, what matters is how much you have in your pockets? that is true, people won't care if you lose or not. so better think of yourself and not others.
without a doubt, some people even bet on the opposite team if they see such advantage. after all, people do care about their financial gain on this activity, whether you are a die-hard fan or not.

I never go with betting on my favourite team when it play against the leading team. Whenever it plays a match against the team that is equally strong I'll go with the odds of my favourite team without taking into consideration whether the bet will win or not. My prime is to support the team as well have some fun watching the game.

It is a rational move especially when the gap between the team is too obvious.  I also tend to bet on the stronger team when comes to gambling.  After all cheering for our favorite team may bring happiness but it won't feed us if our bet is lost.

When I prefer to spend on games that I wasn't much aware of, I'll prefer to go with the lowest odds. This used to give success, however at times we easily get into traps and stay unlucky.

In my part, I always avoid games that I am not familiar with since they often lead to losses and bankroll depletion.

We are fans of different football clubs, and whenever there is football banter, we never fail to take sides with our respective clubs. We stand by them no matter what because that's what being a fan of a football club is all about - unwavering loyalty. However, not all of our favorite clubs perform well. A typical case study is Chelsea, who have had one of their worst performances this season, currently occupying the 11th position. The challenges they have faced this season are unlike any other. Just last night, they were brutally defeated by Manchester United, who showed them no mercy, to the extent that they didn't even celebrate one of their goals.

As a gambler and a die-hard fan of a club that has been having a terrible season, would you bet against your club, knowing that their loss would be your financial gain? Or would you stay loyal and not bet against them?

I don't think it has become a crime to make money, even if my clubs are having a successful season, when I see opportunity in them that will make me money, I will bet on it because as a fan, I have been with them for years; emotion aside I know what they are capable of doing and I know some matches they can win and there are some they can't win, so I don't see any valid reason why I wouldn't bet against them. Arsenal for example, anytime they have a match against Manchester City, I do bet that Haaland to have a short on target, this is because in every match they play, Haaland must make attempt to score and a goal on short we likely happen even if he doesn't get a chance to score.

^For me, betting against your club could potentially bring you financial gain.
If you prioritize your financial gain above all else, it probably is tempting to bet against your club. Betting against your club could lead to conflicting emotions and a sense of disloyalty, especially if you have a deep-rooted attachment to the team. It might also strain your relationship with fellow fans and affect the overall enjoyment of the sport.
However, the decision is yours to make, considering both your gambling interests and your loyalty as a fan, and if you think it is very important to you to take advantage, be a gambler I think, and separate the word die-hard fan.

Not a club, I watch football but I don't really root for any clubs so can't speak for that, but if I were to liken it to teams for eSports, then yes absolutely. I was a pretty big brain-dead fan in the past though, I pretty much thought SKT dominated the League eSports, and I was rooting for PSG LGD in Ti 6 and 7. OGs cinderella comeback made me rethink my decisions when it comes to rooting for teams, since that showed how a team with nothing and no one rooting for it can actually be a dark horse.

Still, didn't exactly push me to make risky decisions and root for teams, my favorite one included, just because I like it., in fact made me realize that I should assume that the favored team would guaranteed to be a win. Better to remove any bias and just judge based on what they showed for that certain tournament.

to be honest, I am a fan of soccer teams myself, but if my favorite team is having a bad time in a particular season, I will avoid betting on it. but if circumstances allow for example MU vs Chelsea both teams have the potential to score goals, I will bet on both teams to score.
so that I stick to my favorite team but also benefit from this match.
but there is also like my friend who has a favorite team but if the team is very bad he will be against betting on another team which has a bigger chance of winning and I will not blame my friend because realistic thinking is needed. no one wants to lose after betting on his favorite team.

As for me, loyalty shouldn't always work on betting. We all have our favorite teams and clubs but if we will just base our decisions on loyalty, even if our favorite team is losing, it will still have a huge impact on our gambling journey as well as our finances. Our main goal in sports betting is to win and even though we support a certain team, it doesn't mean that we always have to bet on them. I have the same experience when my favorite team has been on a bad losing streak that made them on a bad lower spot but I still decided to be practical since betting will involve my money so I bet on their opponent. I have benefited from my decision but that doesn't mean that I'm not supporting my favorite team anymore. There are just times where we need to be practical and just control our emotions.

I would still try to pick the team which is having biggest potential. Even if i were the die hard of club but it was not making me lose my sense if i were putting for money to get more. It will be so stupid if i will be missing opportunity to get money.
Im still using my sense to pick which team that potentially win the game even though if it will be facing my favorite club but business is business. The only stupid people who will always try to pick the team that will be facing lose streak. that means they were also wasting their opportunities as well. I just being realistic with any situation. Sometime you can loyal with your favorite club but you must also still use your sense. Think about that.
You can imagine how much money already lost by the die hard of chelsea if they kept put their choice into the chelsea since the middle of season.
It's true with me, when there is a bigger opportunity to get some winning money, I will make the best use of it by risking some money, even if it has to be against my favorite team.
Everyone will be a little confused when faced with a choice like this, but I myself am more concerned with what can provide a number of benefits than having to give up a big opportunity that is clearly right in front of my eyes.
It should also be remembered that opportunities like this are very rare to find, so we must make the most of it.

Some people bet for fun, others for profit, and I think that's the biggest difference when it comes to the club we support. I don't see how anyone will support their club by betting on it, and at the same time knowing that they will most likely not win that bet - and on the other hand, we know that the biggest support comes from buying tickets, jerseys/souvenirs and cheering in the stands.

Therefore, I don't see why someone should be called disloyal if they don't bet on their club, because sport is much more than betting, or at least it used to be.

Yes for sure, during every Worldcup I am betting against my country. In my opinion it's the perfect strategy to bet your club and has nothing to do with loyalty. Some people might not understand it, but it has pretty easy idea behind. You basically use sports betting to hedge your emotions. So when your team wins you feel happy and don't worry about the small loss. As a real fan the win is always more important than the money. And when your team losses you feel bad, but at least can be happy about some money you won. After a devastating loss you can buy drinks from your bet. It's like getting drunk for free after a big loss. That is why I always place 4-5 bets on the top favorites at the start of the world cup and not bet on my own country. Only during some later matches I bet on them if it makes sense and they have a good chance of winning.

No problem being a fan but yeah, in these times we all are trying to be practical and with such bets. There's no way a fan will ignore these odds, you'll remain as a fan but let the odds and bookmakers handle the gamble. And you as a bettor, don't let the chance pass because it's your chance to make money. No matter what happens to your club as long as you win your bet, you'll still be happy. But if you don't bet and your club wins, you'll still be happy. And if your bet losses and your club win, you'll be sad.

When it comes to betting, it's important not to let emotions guide your decisions. Even if I'm a die-hard fan, I wouldn't hesitate to bet against my favorite team if it's the more profitable choice.

Right because its dumb decision to bet on your favorite club while you know that they have no match to their upcoming opponent. I will not hesitate to bet against my club if that gives me a huge possibilities to gain. Betting is not about being a fanatic since you need to be smart to see which of those teams are underdogs and not or which of them got heavy advantage at that time.

Be practical since this is more important rather than be a loser fan kid.
