Overall, Rodri is indeed worthy of winning the Ballon d'Or. Maybe the reason Vinicius failed to win was because he had an injury at the beginning to the middle of the season and Talenta (Fair Play), his performance in the Brazilian national team does not need to be explained anymore.

What is seen in the picture I think is very clear. If anyone thinks that the Ballon d'Or has been robbed from Vinicius, they need to look back at the main criteria for winning the Ballon d'Or

Many of us with wonderful comments and analysis on who the supposed true winner should be have failed to acknowledge one fact and that's other players and fans may speculate on who deserves it, but forget that it is the coaches and senior managers as well as captains that get to vote on who should be the true winner of the Ballon d'or.
It didn't matter at the time when Lewandowski could have won it despite he having a great season and am sure it doesn't quite matter now despite the fact that Vinicius has had a wonderful rave of games and matches in which he performed very well.

For me, Rodri deserves it and none other could have done better to secure it than him.

I don't trust this organization either, they should be criticized for their voting system. When they hijacked Haaland's award to honor Messi, it completely lost its meaning for me. There are so many people complaining about this organization, it is very possible to create another alternative. I think it's high time to create a more transparent and reliable organization. More democratic and therefore more accurate results can be achieved with wider participation...

Of course Vinicius Junior may not win this, but since they reacted so strongly, I think they must have told Vinicius beforehand that he would be given the award. Then, when the award was changed, they may have reacted so strongly. Because it seems like they found out who won before the award was announced. It could have been found out beforehand. I'm not arguing whether Rodri deserved it or not, but similar things have happened in the past. For example, Lewandowski didn't get the award despite having a great season. I think he's one of the players who was treated unfairly in this regard.

I disagree. If it was up to me Vini shouldn't be in the top 3, but that's just my opinion. If you go back and check the ratings, Vinicius was not among the top 5 candidates to win the award as of March this year and this was for a season that finished in May and the the international competitions started a few weeks after that.
Everybody was singing Belligham as the balon dor winner for the year till Vini came and had those performances at the later stage of the UCL against Man City, Bayern and Dortmund in the final. Before that, nobody mentions Vini when talking about Ballon Dor.
Now Rodri and Bellingham were consistent all season long and when the season ended, they went to their national teams and remained consistent till the final where Rodri came out victorious and won the player of the tournament. Vini on the other hand went to Brazil and was a disaster. He was horrible.

Then there is another player who is overlooked because he doesn't have a good PR. That player is Lautaro Martinez. The only trophy he didn't win was the Champions League. And he didn't just win those trophies but as just part of the team, he was the Serie A's best player and highest goal scorer, he was also the highest goal scorer in the Copa America, a competition where Vinicius played too.

If I were to rank these players it would be;
Rodri
Bellingham
Martinez
Vinicius.
But it's so sad Martines is not among the top 5 players.


The year Lewandoski didn't win it there was no award due to covid. The next year Lewandoski won it and said Lewandoski deserved it the previous season that the ceremony wasn't held.

There are always those who are not happy with your statement, but that's how it is and Rodry deserved to win, I know how disappointed Real Madrid is including Vinicius, sometimes there likes to be a narrative where the Ballon d'Or is set in such a way, I don't know what's behind it all.

In my opinion Vinicius jr deserved to win the award, but I don't understand why people are discussing this so much. If you look at the history of the Ballon D'or, you can see that most of the time deserving players have not won it. For example, in 2010 Wesley Sneijder and in 2019 Van Dijk deserved the award, yet it was given to Lionel Messi.

Your analysis are biased, how can you say Rodri is better than Vinicius junior, before now the Ballon d'Or has always been given to very skillful players that has contributed greatly to the success of their team both club side and national team, especially with their incredible talent and goals, Vinicius junior is one of the best talent in Real Madrid that has shown exceptional talent with the Real Madrid team helping them to win the league and the champions League, however if you argue that he has won nothing with the Brazilian team then I would have to remind you about the fact that, Dani Carvajal won Spanish laliga, he won championship league and was also an incredible figure when the Spanish national team won the Europe 2024. Dani Carvajal is a right back that is always ready to do the dirty work to make sure his team wins, so if you talk about national team contribution, Dani Carvajal has that achievement, he would have been considered to win Balloon d'Or since most of you don't like Vinicius junior to win it.

Vinicius Junior is as worthy of the Ballon d’Or as Rodri. It was a very close race, I don’t consider this to be a robbery or anything to do with racism. Let me give you my list of the most controversial “ Ballon d’Or could have been winners”:

• Ronaldo 2018, Modric won it
• VVD 2019, Messi won it
• Lewandowski 2021, Messi won it
• Erling Haaland 2023, Messi won it

Anyone thinking Rodri deserves the Award more than Vinicius didn't know football, all this you are saying is not about Balloon Dior,  you should just say that you don't like Vinicius or Any Real Madrid player to win the Award, Vinicius is nominated as a La Liga team of the season, Champion League player of the season also Nominate as one of the champion league player of the season, Same as Bellingham, Can you beat your chest and tell me any league that Rodri is nominated as a player of the league and also the best player in the competition if not in the Euros, even the Euros that Rodri was giving the best player in the tournament we all know that he didn't deserve, many players did better than Rodri in Euros, and also in Spain, Dani Olmo, Cavajal, Fabio ruiz and Nico Williams did better than Rodri in the tournament unless you don't watch the tournament.

From the statistics, Rodri is the winner because he showed dominace, and achieved in both his national team and in his club, unlike Vini who won all hi s achievements with only Real Madrid. The best player to win the Ballon D'or must be able to add important value to any team that he is playing in, and also contribute to the success of the team. We saw Rodri outstanding performance in EPL and Euros, giving him a better chance of winning. Rodri never had an advantage over Vini initially, but the Euros was what Rodri used to deny Vini his chance. Brazil on the other hand, faced so many challenges in Copa America, and a lot of people expected Vini to help his country go far, but he was handicap.

Yeah, people saying that Rodri doesn't deserve the Ballon d'Or is just blind to what he has achieved. He deserves it. Even if you look at what Rodri has achieved, it's better than Vinicius - it's just because he's a midfielder, and doesn't get as much exposure as Vinicius, that many people are biased and say that he doesn't deserve the award. But luckily the voters are not biased and choose based on player achievements.

Both Vinicius Junior and Rodrigo Hernández Cascante are clearly the best candidates for this award. If performance in the national team is a major criterion for winning the award, then the Spanish international deserves to win the Balloon d or since he contributed in no small measure to Spain's success in various competitions. But I think the majority of football fans expected the Brazilian to win the title.

The Ballon d'Or has always been disputed like in 2021 when most people thought Robert Lewandowski should have won the crown. Even the winner Lionel Messi acknowledged that the Polish striker deserved to win it.

I also think that Real Madrid went to the extreme. They wouldn't have boycotted the award because it's still a great accomplishment to have a player who took the second position. Sincerely, I expected Vinicius to win but he can still get it next year if he keeps working hard.

I agree on your take. Vinicius is only known in his club, Real Madrid and not so much in Brazil, as if he's a different player when he plays for his country. Meanwhile Rodri has been instrumental in not just his club but in his country as well and there's the saying that whenever Rodri starts for his club, they hardly lose because he's just like the mainstay of the club.
 He really deserves the Ballon d'Or award and if he hadn't being a runner up that's when they should have considered Vini.

Ancelotti is the men's coach of the year and he was nowhere to be found and non of the Madrid players was present at the Ballon d'or presentation night and it seems this is becoming a normal thing for players not to attend the event when they're not the Ballon d'or winner they choose not to go but this time around a whole team was absent. What could have been the reason for Madrid as a team not to attend and not even the coach?
Fine, we all can agree that the Ballon d'or is now messed up, is not like it was back then when it was all about Ronaldo and Messi. To me I think the credibility of the Ballon d'or is no longer there, the only player that deserves the Ballon d'or that I can remember since they started favoring a particular player is Benzema, the other ones have some fake shit around it. But I want to ask, is it right for a whole squad not to attend even the coach Ancelotti who is the best coach was absent, is it right?

Remember, one is a defensive midfielder and the other one is an attacker. More reason why you must not allow your best season in club to be on the same calendar with international tournament especially if you know your country side  is short of performance. Haaland was also a victim of this circumstance and Messi taught him a lesson by winning the world cup.

Truth be told, it would have been a thing of shame in football history if Vinicius had won the Ballon d'Or yesterday. Imagine a forward player with just twenty six goals in a season. During the era of Ronaldo and Messi, they won this Ballon d'Or with nothing less than sixty goals in all competitions. There was a season Messi won it with ninety goals if I'm not mistaken. By the way, controversies are the beauty of football and we must not always be on the same page. Mind you, I like Vinicius Jr but stats don't lie.

I have said this to many people, but most of the people who believe that Vinicius Jr. should win are looking at things from a sentimental perspective and not from facts. I have been watching the Brazilian national team games and I confess that I don't see anything special in Vinicius Jr. performance in the Brazilian national team. Even Rodrygo is better than Vinicius in the Brazilian national team. But when we look at Rodri's case, the guy is incredible. He can be good at defending, he can be good at dribbling, he can be good at shooting, he can score goals. The guy was very competent in the Spanish national team and at Manchester City. Rodri is better than Vinicius.

as controversial as this may be, there's a lot to take away from the outcome of this balon d'or. The popularity of the champions league has made it deficult for the public to consider the performance of other players that are equally doing well in other leagues other than the champions league and that's one reason why vini jnr is mostly considered over a lot of the other players that has similar performance like him. Vini might have been exceptional at the champions league most expecially from the quarter finals upwards but rodri still has a quite reasonable stats accross all the leagues he featured in.

If we take out the popularity of champions league sentiment out of this and look at pure stats, we will notice that rodri was named best player at the Euros and national League. Martinez even outscored vini, won the seria A, won the Copa America and also finished with a golden boot in both tournaments.  Those doesn't seems to make much sense because it's not in the UCL and the fact that vini really goasted in most of those tournaments is not really talked about. It's rodri's time and vini coming second on the ranking is still fair enough. It will be a tough competition next season knowing that mbape is in the consideration but if he steps up is game in other major tournament, the balon d'or will get to him and all this controversy won't matter any more.

Congratulations to Rodri. I knew the Ballon d’Or was coming to the Premier League. Rodri has made history by becoming the first Manchester City player to ever win the Ballon d’Or and the first Spanish player since 1960 to win the Ballon d’Or. Those who believe Vinicius Junior was robbed are not taking into account Vinicius Junior’s national team performance, the competition was always between Vini and Rodri. I would have called it robbery if one of them didn’t win the Ballon d’Or.
