An unfriendly crowd is expected in their fight especially if the Russia-Ukraine war is still hot during the day of the fight, there will be someone or group of people that will discourage Bivol on the said venue or even a loud booing will heard on his entourage. What he should do is cancel all that nonsense noise and we know that boxers are used to that even before that they will fight on the opponents soil, so he shouldn't be affected after all. I also hope that he can fight with all his best and give an entertain fight to the fans and people who waited for this.
The mentality of the Bivol fighter is ready to face the ridicule that hits the opponent's ground, but I'm afraid he's not ready to accept criticism about the Russo-Ukrainian war because it could disrupt his concentration. I hope the fans uphold sportsmanship not to involve him in conditions he doesn't want. Bivols should really focus on the boxing match for a fair fight result without booing the opponent excessively during the match.

Yeah, probably a very hostile crowd for Bivol because of the ongoing war. Nevertheless, as an athlete, he should learn how to shut down the noise around him and concentrate on the fight.

We can't control the crowd, who knows, maybe there will be pro Russians that is going to watch the fight live to cheer him . So just imagine how the crowd will behave, but hopefully there will be no untoward incident in the arena and there should be more securities around.

I think the fight will test the mentality of the bivols in the ring , as we all know if the russian invasion of ukraine clearly affected the sport as it is today, and boos will probably still come out of the mouths of the crowd in that fight, but that's what bivol needs in the fight is to stay calm and focus on facing the opponent, I think maybe the promoter needs to carry out the fight behind closed doors so as not to cause anything bad from the audience, because I think the russian invasion of ukraine is a very sensitive subject right now on russian athletes .

That's what I'm thinking. Bivol is having that thing on his mind and even by 1%, it will still affect his mentality and purpose to win the fight against Canelo. He said in the interview that he has families and friends living in both Russia and Ukraine and those who live in the latter are always on his mind as they are the ones being attacked. Even he is a professional boxer, he's still a human being after all.

Since it's about months to go before the fight, I hope something miraculous will happen and will put an end to the ongoing conflict between Putin and Ukraine. Bivol and other Russian athletes will surely be happy about that and can remain focused now on their goals.

He will have hostile crowds knowing that he is from Russia and Canelo has a good motivation to beat him, I have this feeling that he will beat him so bad that his corner might stop the fight, Canelo will be the sentimental favorite here because of what's happening between Russia and Ukraine and Bivol will be the victim, I hope is the best form of his life, he is up against the current pound for pound champion.

Hope to see him fighting back and also try to prove something in his career, Alvarez will be the heavy favorite but Bivol is also familiar in this division, maybe he can take and survive Alvarez punches, if he does, his fighting chance will be much better. As long as he's willing to take the challenge and he will show his skills, maybe upset or maybe he will be beaten thru UD.

Doesn't matter though if this is his division, he will be facing the best boxer of this era, at this prime, so it's really hard to overcome Canelo at his peak. Maybe he can land some shots and got lucky, but that chances are very slim. Of course, as he can extend the fight to 12 rounds, maybe his chances are going to multiple, but I don't that Canelo can be upset between 160-175 lbs. He is too good and his boxing IQ is one of the best.

Without a doubt this is a good news, after all the possibility of the fight being canceled or delayed was real, as right now there is a very strong call to boycott anything and anyone that comes from Russia, so I applaud the decision of the WBA to keep sanctioning this fight as without a doubt it does not seem as if Bivol is in favor of the war and as such it would be unjust to punish him for something that is completely outside his control.

Actually, the world is just making sure that Russian athletes won't be harmed since not all people can understand the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. That's why on other sports, they ban Russian athletes. There might be a case that fans will throw shits to the Russian athletes in a certain event regardless if those are in favor or not in the war. That will be unfair treatment to them.

Here in Canelo vs Bivol fight, the venue will be on US soil and there might be fans on the venue that will treat Bivol badly. Although he's not totally lived in Russia, his hometown is part of the USSR. The US has backed up Ukraine and Bivol might end up not being respected by the fans on the day of the fight.

They are just ensuring the match will not lead to protest or rally inside the arena.
Because they won't know what will possibly transpire during the day of the fight.
So yes, it is good that they are assessing the situation here before it happens.
But most Russian athletes are condemning Putin's move, but they can't do much about it.
They are like one of the collaterals of this war. Most of them haven't seen this coming.
Exactly, they are just the victims of the war led by their President. Bivol has nothing to do with it so that is unfair for him if the fight is going to be cancelled or there could be protest or rally inside or outside. He is just a boxer trying to make his dreams come true by fighting one of the best in our generation and hopefully, who knows he could upset Canelo.

https://www.boxingscene.com/canelo-bivol-wba-announce-itll-sanction-light-heavyweight-title-fight--165054

So we will just wait for the final statement coming from WBA regarding this fight. I have suspected that this is a go since there were reports about sanctioning this fight.

At least this is a good news for us boxing fans.

Yes it is, not just for them but also for all the boxing fans who are excited to see this fight. There is a lot of commotion happened this past few weeks about this fight not getting sanctioned or else a non-title fight, good thing the WBA have thought about this thoroughly. We'll just have to wait for their final say, but I have a good feeling that this fight will happen at the exact date.

Bivol has nothing to do with the war, he's just an ordinary citizen of the Russian Federation. It would be unjust to cancel his fight just because of Vladimir Putin's actions.

Good point, he's can't control what the government is doing right now, punishing him with something that he's not personally involve should be reconsidered, and that's what we are seeing right now. It's good news that the possible fight will take place, a good position for WBA in case they will push this fight and allow the fans to see these two boxers exchanging punches in the ring.

Just need to wait for the final statement and looking forward that it will be in the best interest of everyone who is waiting for this
fight to take place.

I would rather wait for the announcement of this fight will push through or not. I cannot speculate now because I have a feeling that the sanction would be serious and the fight might not happen or will be postponed. We know what's going on, so the speculation has a very good basis waiting for the official announcement, let's just hope for the best.

If I'm not mistaken, the sanctioning body will not give consideration to whether the fight will continue or not.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but what they will modify or change on the fight is to "degrade it from a Title match to a Non-title match."

Indeed that is how I understand it too, even though the Klitschko brothers wanted it to be canceled.

That's what the sanction should be and not totally delay or postpone the fight. The fight will be pushed but if it will be sanctioned as a non-title match, it's a waste of time for me. Better to just cancel it permanently and assign another opponent for Canelo.

I think they already announced that they will sanction a title fight on this one ( at least that is what the article wanted to tell us.)  So it wouldn't be a waste of time at all.

Thanks for the heads up @OP, a good news indeed! Although just like you, it's kind of expected that this fight will push through and will be sanctioned. The sanctioning bodies are just finding some good time when to release the statement regarding this fight because the issue is still kind of hot right now.

Right now, we have already got half of the good news and let's just sit tight and wait for their final statement.

I had predicted the PPV match would not change the schedule even though some people pressured Bivol and boycotted the match because he is Russian, but Bivol quoted in the article above has expressed sympathy for the innocent Ukrainians since the invasion. I think the official announcement on Saturday will be no different from the results of the internal meeting, hope everything is fine, we have been waiting for PPV for that extraordinary match.

Maybe in a day or two will have the official announcement, but it seems the source is reputable so I will say it's a done deal already. The fight will go, no sanctions or postponement.

And there is no turning back for Bivol, he should really get himself focus for this fight and not mind those who wanted the fight not to push because of the ongoing war between his country and Ukraine.

It's just so disappointing that Bivol also needs to feel discriminated because of being Russian when in fact, he has nothing to do with the current war between the two countries. However, I believe that this fight will still be pushed through because both parties as well as the management have prepared well for this. I hope Bivol being Russian won't be a big deal in this match.

It seems that the WBA removed all Russian boxers from its rating, but they left the fight between Bivol and Alvarez.
It seems to have been decided that it would be unfair to boxers to remove it now for political reasons (which is generally true).
Therefore, apparently the fight will still take place, even if it will take place in an environment that is not the most friendly for the Bivol.
