Based on the previous fight, here's the figure.

Quote
According to the Nevada State Athletic Commission, Alvarez would earn an official purse of $5 million and Golovkin was to make a $4 million purse. It was reported with profits of the PPV, Alvarez would potentially earn around $40 million and Golovkin could earn $30 million.[50]

source

So now we have an idea how much they will make, and since it's a trilogy, I expect that it will earn a bigger amount compared to the last fight.

Solid numbers. It also seems to me that taking into account all the factors (the public's thirst for "big" fights after the pandemic, inflation, the history of this confrontation, and even the recent defeat of Alvarez), boxers will earn more than in the second fight. Hopefully Golovkin wins in the early rounds with a "surprise" knockout (allowing Alvarez's team to question the consistency of the result) and there's a chance we'll see a 4th fight in this showdown. If Golovkin loses one way or another, this will be the last fight.

Everyone is expecting to see Canelo to win, he may win, it might just be a close fight if its going 12.
Canelo hurting GG is likely to thru the body shot or in a timely spurts and in that case, Golovkin will hang his glove for good. They've skipped so many years before 3rd fight, its years late. Although GG won against Murata, he had deteriorated. He need a win to get back to Bivol, I guess its a well planned match for Canelo to win.

^^ Still huge numbers pre pandemic and for sure in this trilogy Canelo could be assured of at least $6 million and then GGG $5 million and then the PPV numbers split among them.

As for the Lara mandatory, he can wait o GGG giving the finger to the WBA about it. Perhaps GGG can make more money not fighting Lara for the 160 lbs title. Or who knows, if GGG win then he might stay at 168 lbs for a while and see his offers.

So win or lose, I doubt that GGG will be force somewhat to fight his mandatory or whatever they call it to have one champion. The focus for him right now is Canelo and that's what he is going to concentrate whatever WBA orders him, it doesn't matter for now.

It's a rivalry that he is really eager to win. There's nothing else that is important for him aside from taking down

Canelo and prove that he really deserves the win, a personal matter he is not after to whoever
the organization is requiring him.

It's a must fight for GGG and since both camps are ready now and they are really hyping these upcoming trilogy.

It's already hype, both will enjoy a decent payday in this fight as PPV will surely hit a decent number. People are anticipating for this fight, and now that it's already announce, they will surely pay for the PPV and some would go to the arena to witness it in person.

Nah, he has 3 belts right now, he can just give up or being stripped of the WBA for all he care. And I agree that his boxing bodies has so many belts, they they will have to force their champion. They allow GGG to go up to 168 lbs without stripping him. But they should know that mandating him to fight Lara just right after his fight with Canelo is not good for the boxers. So for sure, GGG would rather be strip of his WBA belt that force to fight Lara in just 3 months after his fight with Canelo.

Agreed. At this age, I don't think that Golovkin cares about the WBA title. In case he loses the fight against Canelo, then he will have 4 months to move from 168 pounds to 160. I don't think that it is possible without having a negative impact on the body and therefore in all probability Golovkin will forfeit the WBA title. In that case will Erislandy Lara be declared as the WBA champion without a fight? Or do he need to fight against the player who is ranked next? Anyway Golovkin will continue to be the IBF/IBO middleweight champion.
I will speculate that Lara will be elevated to the regular champion status by WBA. And if GGG is ready maybe next year then he can fight Lara but not right after his Canelo fight. He needs to take a break as well as you have said. If WBA is not keen on that, then Lara as champion will have his mandatory against the top fighters in the WBA ranking. And I think the IBF/IBO might be willing to give GGG more leeway as compare to WBA so he might retain that title after the fight.

Not sure if this will add a pressure on Golovkin shoulder as he is being force to defend his WBA belt against Lara regardless of the outcome of the fight.

So after the fight with Canelo, he will be given 5 days which belt he want to keep. And if he wanted to go down to 160 lbs, then him and Lara are being ordered by the WBA to have one unified champion. Lara is the "regular WBA" champion.

Looks like Canelo will have another good fight after this one, seems like not a usual opponent for Canelo because I believe he wasn't ready to fight in the lower weight division after getting used to his current weight. therefore, this fight will likely not happen but depends on what the result of the fight against GGG would be. If he can somehow find a way to knock out GGG in the early rounds, then fans will be thrilled to see him fight once again soon and it will be nice if he gonna take this order by the WBA.

Pressure is always there because everyone wants to win, but this fight could give GGG more money than the fight defending his belt, so I think he knows how to handle this. Let's wait for the outcome of GGG and Canelo first, then we would know what would be GGG's next action.

True, but that is the problem with this ABC belts now, they have a lot of champions, regular, interim, super champion, champion emeritus so it hardly matter for now.

WBA ordering GGG to fight his mandatory challenger means that his bout with Canelo this September is not sanctioned by them so before GGG loses to Canelo they are trying to make money out of him (through sanctioning fees) if ever GGG heeded to their call but I doubt Team GGG will do that as his chance for the trilogy is one in a million and besides he is running out of time now.

People have said here, that Canelo will be fighting "home", while GGG would be a visitor. Not sure if this really could be a reason to give victory to Canelo, but at least it will give 1% advantage for Canelo.
How many fights are left for GGG before he retire, if he wins, maybe one or two. But if Canelo wins, he could start his new winning streak and continue it for +5 years minimum. But if he looses again, would other big fighters wish that much to fight with him? From business point of view, those who have contracts with Canelo can earn more, compared to GGG.

It's because Canelo has been campaigning in the US for so long now that he already adapted to it. You can just see him at interviews, in the beginning he doesn't speak English but now you can see that he has improved a lot plus there are a lot of Mexicans and Hispanics supporting their guys. Well it's good if you have a winning streak, but still base on the opposition, if you are a A-level fighters but fighting contenders and not elite fighters then of course you will have a good run. But with Bivol, Canelo really faces his weakness, a tall fighter that can move and take his power that's why he losses that streak of his.

The US is home to Golovkin, as much as it is for Canelo. But the factor that may give the latter a boost is tens of thousands of mostly Mexican fans cheering for him. Canelo is much more popular in the US (especially among the Hispanics) when compared to Golovkin. And regarding Golovkin's retirement, I agree. Although he maintains a very high level of fitness, it is difficult to see him fight for much longer. Maybe another 2 years and after that he will call his retirement. But a lot will depend on the results from 17th September.

Both fighters are good at absorbing those solid punches. They've been tested by many fights from their early careers, the two early fights
ends up with decisions, these two fighters are not willing to fall down, both have strong chin and they know how to use the advantage to
Continue facing their opponent even they've been hit many times. We can only conclude who's going to win after the announcer calls the
name of the winner.

Canelo owned the judges on those 2 fights. Just an assumption for me but it's clear GGG won 2 of their previous meeting. There will be no massive demand by most boxing fans to make the trilogy happen if there's no question about Canelo winning the second meeting.

GGG is just even silent because he knows what really happened.

I like GGG to give Canelo another to make his mouth shut. Just recently, Canelo trash talk GGG but the latter didn't respond. What bad behavior from Canelo.
If the truth is that I did not like what Canelo said, first of all, each boxer has to give respect so that they respect him, for me that is unsportsmanlike conduct, it is also not appropriate, there are times that the public also sees it children on their tv, and this is not pleasant for them to demonstrate these things, it is a bad example, on the other hand, the judges are something else, as I said before, if the judges in the past Olympics were cheeky with a verdict that was very biased, so what remains for this type of event where there is a lot of interest, bets of large amounts of money happens.

There are super athletes who can't really shut their mouth even if they losses, like Canelo, he said that he did enough to win in the Bivol fight. But we all witnessed that he was outgun by the young and taller opponent giving him his second lost in his career. And same here, Canelo is talking hard against GGG, of course they are rivals and this is their 3rd fight. But if GGG won, will Canelo not talk about this defeat and says that he should have won it? We will see, too much at stake in this fight.

It is that Canelo the mistake that he has is that, I know that each person has his temperament, his personality and his way of being, but in these times a boxer should be a little more humble and accept certain things, and not talk about more, because his mouth can be punishment for the body, and he can pay dearly for it, honestly if Canelo had beaten Bivol, the story would be different, because I know that there are many who speak and are really good and do not receive defeats, but at this point I think that his word no longer makes sense, I don't know if they talk like that, it's for the reason of the same show, but it's not good, however as you say, it would be the third meeting of both, it's interesting what can happen.

If the judges are to decide who is the winner, then obviously they would choose Canelo. Because they will hint GGG that his time has ended and it is time to retire. Because they dont see him having lots of fights in future. Because "Canelo has legacy to build" and giving him a second loss in a row can be bad for future ticket sales. To put an end in their confrontation, fight must end with a KO, because judges will decide not who has won the fight, but who might have a better future boxing career and be more interesting for boxing fans.

Sometimes I have thought about that scenario, but why do you think they will say that it is Canelo? Why not GGG, if GGG is a complete fighter, only he is a little older, I understand that in boxing the older they are the more experience and expertise, I think this is something that helps every boxer, also someday Canelo he can reach that age and I don't think he would like a treatment like that, I think that things have to be above the age and see the sporting level, who has done better at a technical level and not get carried away by things like age, age should not stop anyone, much less a boxer.

However, since both of this boxers seems to be not giving any advantage against each other, there could be no knock out. But for sure this will be an entertaining fight, after all this is a trilogy already. We've seen the last two and indeed the fans enjoyed it although there is controversies. So this could be again going to the score card of the judges.

Chances are higher that the fight will be decided by the judges. If there is a KO, then in all probability it will be Canelo who becomes the winner. At this age, I don't think that Golovkin has the capability to knockout someone like Canelo. Also, Canelo hits peak energy level earlier on, while slowing down after 6th or 7th rounds. So if a KO occurs, it will be during the initial 6 rounds. But either way, chances are low. Despite his age, Golovkin still has good defenses. This fight is extremely difficult to predict. I have strong reasons to believe that we will be in for a surprise on 17th September.
