I noticed an interesting thing about this fight: Golovkin can win, but most likely only by knockout - he is too old to last the whole distance of the fight and win on points.

I don't agree with you that GGG can't last the whole fight just because of his age. He has the stamina to last long.

But likely, if the fight went to a decision, Canelo might be the winner. GGG can only win by Knock Out or he is evident the clear winner of each round like what happened when Bivol got the unanimous win against the favorite Canelo. Canelo is the current cash cow and the result might get influenced in favor of him.

If there's a manipulation then most likely Canelo will win again. GGG does believe that he will be robbed again if he will not KO Canelo, so it's going to be a hard job for him knocking out Canelo because the champ is a younger guy and still on his prime.

What I expect in this game is that it's gonna be an entertaining fight, but most of us believe Canelo will win via decision.
Would you agree with that?

Here are the official weigh-in:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVHU44zuj48

Move forward to 4:48, GGG looks huge at 168 lbs hehehe.

GGG - 167.8
Canelo - 167.4 pounds

So let's see if GGG moving to super middleweight and with that added extra pounds will make him perform much better in this fight. Again, it's the debate about GGG age vs Canelo prime years, gonna be a good match for sure.

I compared their condition with the previous weigh-in and it seems to me that Canelo looked more powerful 4 years ago than now, I didn't see any special changes in GGG, well, maybe he became a little bigger, of course the light is different.

Although I really want GGG want to win the fight to finally get his dream revenge to Canelo but I’m Canelo already learned his lesson on his defeat against Bivol and Boxer with this kind of caliber will not gonna fall on same mistake. That is not weakness but rather just a mistake on there side for not preparing properly for Bivol because they underestimated the guy. I’m sure this fight will be closed but my bet will still go to Canelo this time because I always take priority the age on Boxing especially if both fighters has a great records.

I noticed an interesting thing about this fight: Golovkin can win, but most likely only by knockout - he is too old to last the whole distance of the fight and win on points. If Canelo wins, it is likely that his advantage in the fight will result in Golovkin getting knocked out before the end of the fight. So, based on these considerations, it seems to me that a bet on total 11.5 under with odds of 2.45 looks very profitable.

Old but not too old mate, don't underestimate GGG, he might have aged but he still has the power. If we believe hat he is too old, then there's no chance that he can knock out a strong Canelo Alvarez. We will see this fight tomorrow, I can't wait to watch this big fight, hopefully, it's another entertaining fight.

Golovkin's current build is awesome. Is he really an aging boxer @ 40 years old? We can say that he is in good shape and no signs that he undergo heavy and intense training. I'm amazed at the disciplined in taking care of his body.

If no one knows about the real age of GGG, he can be mistakenly looked at as having the same age as Canelo.

But it's just his physical appearance. The real strength will be seen in the actual fight. Just around 17 hours to go of waiting and the event will now take place.

He's always in good condition always prepared and I think more prepared than the first two fights that he's been against Canelo he is so calm and so relaxed during their faceoff, I thought Canelo is trying to bully him but GGG doesn't care on his rival antics, I've watched the interview and he is relaxed and enjoy every moment of it, I feel that he who knows what's he's going to do this time against Canelo because he already studied how Bivol beats Canelo, his team has taken that fight to exploit Canelo's weaknesses and bad moves.

That's how high level athlete is, they've taken care of themselves and so even at age 40, you can see that he looks to be in his prime and I do agree that maybe the added weight could make a big differences in this fight like GGG has better absorption of power punches coming from Canelo.

Have already pulled the trigger and i hope would right this time.

Same here, but I'm using a different platform now, It will be a war, and I don't see Canelo winning by knockout as prediction by former boxers. GGG's chin is still solid and again he is heavier and even could hydrate to Light heavyweight limit fight night.

That's how professional GGG is when it comes to taking care of his body and aesthetic wise, they may look even at the scale but during fight time we all knew that Father time will have its toll on GGG but I do hope that this would still be a competitive fight like the first two.

Even at the presentation on the weigh-in, it was very obvious that they are hyping Canelo lol, we can't blame them as this fight is for him to look good and have a good stock before doing a rematch against Bivol.

Have already pulled the trigger and i hope would right this time.

Golovkin looks really solid at this new weight class. The additional weight and strength should help him absorb Canelo's power punches. We will see how much he will be affected by his age. Maybe it'll be like Pacquiao vs. Marquez, where having the experience and knowledge from their previous fights will negate those disadvantages for the older fighter.

Is the judges name have been announce already?
The reason why I'm asking is that we need to get the names of them and see if they have previously been involved in some unfair scoring or maybe they are on the Canelo's bandwagon?
Yep it has been announced who's the judges in this fight

The judges appointed for the fight are Dave Moretti, Steve Weisfeld and David Sutherland.

Dave Moretti has favoring to GGG on the first match, but he's favoring to Canelo on the second match, I think he judgement is fair enough since I consider GGG performance on the first match was better than the second.

Steve Weisfeld only become judges on the second match and he's favoring to Canelo too, while David Sutherland is new name on Canelo vs GGG fight. Looking how he gave a score [1] it seems that he's kind of judge who favor to favorited boxer.

Thanks, so there is some familiar names and is not new in scoring the fight between the two. Dave Moretti though seems to be not a biased judge and hasn't had history of controversial decision, and so he is a good choice.

So it will be interesting on David Sutherland will score the fight, I mean for sure he had heard a lot of controversies and should learn for the Adalaide Byrd debacle.

Golovkin says in a pre-match interview that he has a lot of plans besides this fight with Canelo, so it looks like he's not going to leave anyway. When asked about a possible fourth fight with Canelo, GGG stated that he also does not rule out a similar outcome from this trilogy. And by the way, an interesting fact is that in his entire boxing career, including amateur boxing, Golovkin has never even been in knockdown.

I have seen his fight against Murata and he absorbed a lot of punches in the early rounds until Murata runs out of gas that's where he knocks him, in one of his interviews he was asked about the punch in round nine of their second match it was the hardest punch thrown by Canelo and he just felt it like a slap, Golovkin is really made for boxing and if there's one boxer who can be handed him his first knockdown it could be Canelo, and if there's one boxer who can knock Canelo out its going to be GGG, so we'll a day away from the fight we'll know the result.
And it could be a sign that GGG might be slowing down because of his age, and yes, the punishment he got from Murata, he absorb a lot of punches, but we will have to see if it put a dent on his chin or not. He has never been in trouble in his career.

But there are observers who says that GGG is looking to score a knockout and might throw a lot of blows to the body to slow him GGG down. But both have a durable chin, so it's not to see either getting knockout and the results might be known again to the score of this new set of judges.

In the first match, he had Golovkin winning by 115-113, when it was 116-112 or 117-111 in reality.
And in the second match also he was wrong. He had Canelo winning by 115-113,

In the first match, he favored GGG.
In the rematch, he now favored Canelo.

Do you mean that in the first match, Canelo should have won and the result is not a split draw?
And for the rematch, GGG should win but he favored Canelo?

I'm confused about what you really think because as you said, you respect that judge who did that score, and seems that for me, he is fair in giving his scorecard and not siding with either Canelo or GGG.

In the first match he was either neutral or slightly tilting towards Canelo. The maximum I could give for Canelo is 112-116. But Moretti awarded one more round to him, making it 113-115. So how can you say that he was favoring Golovkin? In the rematch he was biased towards Canelo and there is no doubt about it. I posted this link a few days back, and will post again:

https://www.dazn.com/en-IN/news/boxing/who-won-canelo-vs-golovkin-1-our-three-judges-rescored-the-fight/14jgx099i1hyp1xftcxjcqhuol
https://www.sportingnews.com/us/boxing/news/canelo-vs-ggg-3-who-won-boxing-fights-judges-scores/sl7zvgnijst8locg9vwbiqrw

None of the neutral observers scored either of the two fights to Canelo. The second one might be close, but Golovkin was the clear winner in the first match.

I have a lot of respect towards Dave Moretti and that is a different topic. Among the current judges, he is the most experienced one (judging since 1977) and probably the least controversial as well.

The wait is almost over, the fight is only one day away, all the speculation will end and we will see if things will actually go as we predicted.

It’s going to be difficult for the fight to end with a KO by either side as they know each other very well, and I doubt they hold any kind of secret strategy to beat each other, the one that wins will do so based on the fundamentals of boxing and nothing else, however I really hope this time around there’s not really any kind of controversy with the judges as it happened already in the previous two fights.

No matter how I would want to make it look like a fair fight, the judges will most likely be on Canelo's side again.

I'm pretty sure GGG knows that, therefore, I believe that he will try his best to win by KO/TKO, that way judges' decision is not necessary anymore. It's gonna be a war, GGG trying to win this trilogy while Canelo will try to have an impressive win so people will forget about how he lost to Bivol.

Aside from GGG, the whole public and the boxing industry knows about that too that's why I'm thinking that the judges this time might refrain from their habits of helping Canelo in terms of scores if ever the fight will get to the judge's hand once again. However, GGG shouldn't rely from that alone and should do his job as well in finishing the fight as early as he could so that the fight won't reach into the judge's hands.

Is the judges name have been announce already?
The reason why I'm asking is that we need to get the names of them and see if they have previously been involved in some unfair scoring or maybe they are on the Canelo's bandwagon?

I think that will be the aim for both of them, then will want to finished the fight as early and not let it go to the judges hands because there could be another controversy and the boxing community will surely be in an uproar if the judges didn't get it right again.

I dug some information and fortunately, I found the names of the judges who will be there in their fight later and among those judges, there's this Dave Moretti who was also present in their first two fights and then Steve Weisfeld who was also present in the rematch and the 3rd one is new. And I found out too that the 2 stated names of the judges were almost present in every fights of Canelo. Coincidence? Grin

Yes, Canelo will be hailed as the true winner if he will win in this trilogy but I don't think it will add some value to his career because GGG is not that kind of a trophy anymore in their case.
But if GGG will win then his value will indeed increase while Canelo will be devalued for getting defeated by a man who is already at the retirement stage and of course for being defeated twice in a row, all that happened in one year alone.

Canelo has nothing to gain and GGG has nothing to lose. That summarizes the situation from the current fight. If Canelo had accepted the challenge in 2019 and decisively defeated Golovkin, then he could have been hailed as the champion. But that was not the case. He delayed the fight needlessly for 2.5 years, so that GGG would get old. Now Golovkin is no longer in his prime and even if Canelo manages to defeat him (without the support from the judges), he won't be able to take a lot of credit for that win.

That's right, Canelo will be heavily affected if he will be the one who gets defeated here in this trilogy fight, people will start to question his strength because of the fact that he was defeated by GGG who is in the verge of his retirement and already years away from his prime.

But we can already tell that Canelo might likely win because almost everything are on his favor, even if the judges won't help him. Still, I'm interested how would this fight go because even though GGG is already old, I believe he can still make Canelo struggle.
