I remember watching the first game wherein the game resulted in a draw, though I do think that Canelo deserved that win.

On game 2, both of Canelo and GGG showed tremendous talent wherein GGG had this steel chin. Despite all the powerful shots that Canelo threw, GGG will not fall on the ground and he continued to fight like nothing happened. Though the game ended with Canelo winning, I think a draw was sufficient and equal on that match.

Now that the trilogy will finally happen, I hope that this fight will be more convincing compared to all the previous fights that it left everyone with their own opinions on who won on that match.

There will be no plan for a trilogy if Canelo looks really considered by many to dominate GGG in their previous match. GGG never questioned the results but the boxing community and analysts are. That's the reason why the idea of having the trilogy didn't get buried for years even though GGG is now almost 40 years of age and close to retirement.

There are lots of good fights waiting for Canelo but still, many are demanding that a fight with GGG should happen. It's because they think results from a Decision are crap and the true winner of their fight should be decided in Knock Out.

At least Canelo making the good decision of giving us fans the needed trilogy instead of fighting Bivol again.

A good decision but not because of the fans. It was because if he will fight Bivol again, he might finally end up losing again. Haven't you noticed how silent Canelo is after he loses? If he really thinks he can go a win against Bivol in a rematch, he will surely be vocal about it. There's hesitation because he knows to himself he can't handle the underdog Bivol for the 2nd time. Cheesy

Instead, he chooses to fight against the older GGG and stick with the supposed original plan if he wins against Bivol. He thinks he can handle easily that old guy plus awaiting big money that will be generated by this match instead of fighting Bivol in a rematch.

At least though, we will see this fight even it's kinda late.

Of course, maybe he was just advise by his team not to take Bivol as this point because he will end up losing the fight again. And the fans is wanting to see this fight being made, so even if he came for a big L, he can still go and fight Canelo. And maybe the real money is with this trilogy and he knows that their fans are going to buy the ticket even if this is going to be expensive as they are eager to see the third fight.

That is not something to Canelo, taking advice and dodging an opponent. Bivol really shakes Canelo's head and right now, he's a nightmare to Canelo.

Canelo might need another boost of confidence so instead of taking Bivol on a rematch, he wants to test something by facing other opponents first and since there's already an anticipated fight between him and GGG in September even prior to the fight against Bivol, they push for that.

According to some articles, after fighting GGG, Canelo will now challenge Bivol for a rematch. We are not just sure if that's still his plan if he loses against GGG.

People would really be still loving to see this Trilogy which lots had been anticipating for too long and now it would really happen. THanks for the share up bud.
I do agree that it should really be done few years back where GGG isnt really still near on his retirement or simply being old but for sure he do still have something into his sleeves.
But i would really be still considering for Canelo on closing this one for good.  Wink

At last! The most awaited trilogy between Canelo and GGG will happen this year. I'm really glad for the latter because for a long time, he waited and has been calling for this match.

Although, this fight should have happened years ago like @bisdak40 has said when GGG was much more capable and undoubtedly can give Canelo a hard time. Well at least, a trilogy will happen soon and this will probably be GGG's last fight before he decides to hang up his gloves.

After Canello lost to Bivol, it would be a strong move for GGG to deny Canello this fight. I see no point in this fight for GGG - firstly, GGG is already very old, and secondly, Canello is already defeated. Why give him a chance to rise (in the name of GGG) again?

Quote
Who you've got on this fight?
I ain't gonna lie, it's Canelo.

Most likely yes, but we have already seen cases where, having suffered one defeat, previously invincible champions crumbled, I hope this is waiting for Canello.

Canelo cannot hide that he is bothered and pissed that a much lesser experience Dmitry Bivol will put more stain to his pretty record, we have seen his reaction in the fight that he can't hide his feelings because he already know that a defeat is waiting for him at the end of the day.

Anyway, I understand why GGG still chose to accept the fight even if he will just be used to lift Canelo's name again but let's just accept his decision because he is been calling this fight for years. Even though we know that Canelo will eventually be the one to win on this fight, the people will not be pleased because GGG is not that hard to defeat for him already.

But surely I would want to see GGG to win this fight and be the 3rd boxer who smeared Canelo's record.

I didn't expect that this fight would still happen. GGG will surely be a threat to Canelo. Canelo have lost in his previous fights so he really needs strong stamina to beat GGG by knockout or at least by unanimous decision. He must prepare well for this match because he will face a champion. Canelo is a good fighter but this match would really be challenging for him.
Huh
GGG never won against Canelo
GGG is a heavy underdog in this fight
Which belts GGG had currently in middleweight? Tongue

You're talking nonsense, GGG has a strong chin too, it's not easy to beat him via KO. The most possible is Canelo will win through decision similar like his second fight, I don't see GGG is a threat to Canelo even Canelo lost his fight against Bivol.

Bivol was also an obvious outsider, but he declassed Canello, so bookmakers' quotes can hardly be considered as the ultimate truth. I consider Canello the favorite in the upcoming fight, but only because GGG has already grown old, Canello's previous victories were, let's say, controversial, so many have been waiting for this third fight for a long time. It is unfortunate that it will happen when both boxers have already left the "long" distance.

Canelo won both fights.

1st fight Split Decision.
2nd fight Majority Decision

However, despite that, people still asked for a trilogy because they believe that GGG has a shot of beating Canelo.
I don't count the possibility of GGG winning the fight, though he is older now but he still has the power to KO a boxer, and Canelo is not exempted.

I like the fact that GGG is a heavy underdog.

^^ Not sure if a 4th fight is warranted, although throughout boxing's history we've seen more than 3 fights between fighters to settle the score.

If Canelo will win in a decisive manner, whether by KO/TKO or clear in the judges scorecard then their history is one and done. But if somehow GGG upsets him, Canelo might take a long rest maybe before deciding which options is best for him in the future.

If somehow GGG takes his revenge and wins the fight, my opinion might be, his camp will choose whether to take another shot against

Canelo or he will choose other options before retiring his gloves. The age matter the most though, his chance might be slim especially now that

Canelo just came from a loss and he will try to win to hype his name back.

Let's wait till the fight takes place, and hope to see a toe-to-toe fighting between these two champ, winner will hypes his name for higher offer.

Canelo has already the stamina, and both fighters have already fought 2 times and it was Canelo who was victorious. Now, we go to the final part, Canelo is surely still the favorite here, but I would always like to go against him for GGG as GGG is a decent fighter, he will never back down.

by the way, if we like to check the full details, we can read the article below.

If he Canelo loses to GGG then maybe for sure there will be no rematch with Bivol. And maybe fighters like Benavidez are going after GGG for his belt at 168 lbs because Canelo will be very vulnerable that time.
It's hard to do speculation at this point in time, boxers and the boxing community will prefer to take it one fight at a time and see how boxers performed if there are slowing down, or if boxers suffered injuries that will have an impact on their coming fights

Quote
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the fight is on 168 lbs right? So GGG will have to go up 8 lbs heavier? So if he wins then he will have the 168 lbs belt that Canelo has.
Yes they are going to fight at that weight level, both agreed to fight on that level and they seem to be be both comfortable on that weight and Canelo is the undisputed champion at that weight

Quote
So there will be a lot of scenarios if GGG win.
Of course, there will be a lot of scenarios created, but if the fight is too close there could be a fourth fight I just don't know if they have it in their contract, we all want a conclusion because both fighters are not getting younger anymore.

Well right now is the best time to do it since they can gauge the level between them for about 50/50 because of what happened to Canelo's last fight and it could be one of the most exciting fights of this year since both of them are capable of giving us surprise win. I hope this fight will not reach the official's decisions because I find that boring and they really need to do some work in the early rounds where the exchange of punches is intense and one of them might be about to go down in that exchange of power punches.

Agree with this. Golovkin has the motivation to take revenge for what Canelo did to him in their match in 2018 while Canelo might be experiencing a minor setback due to his unexpected loss. GGG is still strong considering his previous fight after his defeat to Canelo. I think I will go for GGG this time because Canelo is overconfident when he knew that his record and skills are greater than the opponent. This is the case why he lose to Bivol and I think this will happened in this upcoming trilogy. I preferred to watch this fight rather than the rematch with Bivol. Hopefully, we might see a K.O in this fight.

I'm up to believe Canelo will win against GGG and then ask for rematch against Bivol. This I think is his best path to go forward or hang the gloves already for he is getting old. Canelo vs GGG is a way to make him more money and at the same time will move him in the right direction again. So if he loses against GGG, that would be it confirming he is infirmed. And will have 3rd loss whoever his next fight will be.

True, get over with GGG first and then rematch Bivol for a bigger payday. Not just the best path, but it's the only way for him to regain his place as one of the greats. Just imagine, beating GGG in a rematch an then going after Bivol and win. Setup their trilogy and beat him in the 3rd match. That will be the perfect scenario for Canelo and perhaps this is what they are hoping to happen in the future.

That's on the positive side of Canelo, but, what if GGG will beat Canelo in this fight? What would be the next step for Canelo, for sure there's no more rematch with Bivol, I guess? Actually, GGG is not an easy opponent, that's why fans are asking for this trilogy because they are not convince that Canelo beat GGG in the last 2 fights.

GGG is much more popular than Bivol. Canelo would earn more for a third fight against GGG (because of GGG and trilogy), then in a fight against Bivol. And dont forget that Bivol beat Canelo  impressively, Canelo need to get prepared better for rematch, or change coach (and to test a new coach in next fight). Because if Canelo will come with same strategy (powerful punches and less combinations and speed), that extra weight (light heavy) will make Canelo lose again. For Canelo, GGG looks like an easier opponent, compared to Bivol.
