Finally! But better late than never is not applicable in boxing. With age comes deterioration in one's speed, power, and overall boxing skills. I just hope GGG at 40 could still pull off some great shots. He's a great boxer but age matters, at least in boxing. As a matter of fact, while he had a TKO win over the inactive Murata in his last fight, I observed he has indeed slowed down a bit.

On the other hand, it is a bit unfair that he's only being given the chance after Canelo lost to Bivol. It takes a loss for Canelo to accommodate this trilogy when this should have been done much much earlier.

I'd be praying and cheering for GGG but I won't be making a bet.

Many fans are waiting for this trilogy and now its going to happen even it takes too long.

The last fight of Canelo didnt turn out well for him so this is the chance for GGG to redeem himself.

Well actually he already redeem himself as a great boxer for winning his previous fights after his loss to Canelo. Though its a bit different now to face Canelo because of GGG's age.

At the age of 31, Canelo looks to be nearing retirement. He appeared to have lost his motivation, or been in too many wars against Bivol.

What sucks for GGG is he has only 1 loss on his record to Canelo. And many felt GGG won both fights. A case could be made for GGG being undefeated at this point in his carer.

GGG might have to knock Canelo out to get a win. Removing the judges from the equation is the only chance he has of winning. Commentators and judges are too biased in Canelo's favor.

Canelo to me is the most overrated boxer in the world. I don't understand how he gets so much hype behind him.

True. And so if GGG. At his age, he should have been retired already. This match is given the thumbs up because Canelo just lost against Bivol which he has to win more to fight against the top contender.

Yes he could be hyped over and over but he is one of the best. For this fight though I will be rooting for the younger Canelo than GGG. This is more like a set up for Canelo to get back on track.

Awesome. The anticipated and one of the awaiting fights of the year will now happen. They arranged the fight right away since they need to market it heavily because the previous loss that happened in Canelo plays a big role here. GGG however, won the requirements of this fight. I thought no GGG fight if Canelo will lose but still, organizers don't want to waste the opportunity as this fight is expected to be a million money worth, and PPV sales are expected to be sold out as early as months to go before the official fight.

I'm looking forward to GGG winning the fight because Canelo still has many chances to redeem himself if ever he will lose here. Lots of time to still get his achievements compared to GGG which I think win or loss on this trilogy, he will now hang his gloves for good.

GGG for me is the winner of their rematch but can't say the same thing about their first match. In this trilogy, we will now find out who's the best. If only this happens during the good years, we won't include GGG's age as the factor why he will not win against Canelo.

At the age of 31 Canelo is considered still in heavily prime. That was the impression prior to fighting Bivol and no one even thinks that he won't lose at the moment of his career. But even if he loses on that, that won't change that he's still in his prime.

Regarding the now officially trilogy between GGG and Canelo, it should happen early as the former is now almost in the retiring period. But since GGG showed dominance against Murata previously, I hope GGG will put Canelo on his 2nd consecutive loss.

The time now to end the chapter of these 2 greats. GGG will retire happily if he won this match.
Im not underestimating GGG but his recent fight against Murata isnt something that i do really expect for GGG which he did really slow down but you could still see that solid or powerpunch
that he do makes but that wont really be enough on beating prime Canelo considering his age compared to him.People say that age doesnt really impose some toll?
Think again because it does and if he do wins this one then i do really believe that he might be retiring after closing this one.

He will really enjoy it if he wins this match, any boxer wants to end their boxing career by winning it over his nemesis, only a few boxers have done that they overextend themselves until they keep losing, I don't know if Golovkin will finally retire, there is no word if this is his final fight, and Canelo will try to come back from a humiliating loss, this is not only a legacy fight for Canelo but a chance to get back to his road to greatness, both fighters will put everything to win this fight.

It's officially announced that the trilogy between Canelo and GGG will happen this September 17 and the rematch with Bivol will wait or will not happen.

For me, this should happen years ago when GGG was not so old hehe but nevertheless fans will still watch this fight to see if GGG has still some tricks on his sleeve.

Who you've got on this fight?

This fight should and must happen, it's very annoying for both fighters if people keep asking about the trilogy, now that its going to happen the annoyance will stop and the boxing will speculate because Canelo was beaten in his last fight, and Golovkin is already aged, people will look the fight differently, can they keep the action the same as they did in their last two fights and will this be the best fights for both fighters.

I don't understand with you mate, Canelo do lost from Bivol... but he lost because he is moving his weight and straightly fight with a champion. He need to familiarize in his new weight first and fight with weak boxer, perhaps Canelo don't want it since it looks like like he's cherry pick his opponent.

The first fight against GGG are pretty close, but the second isn't, that's why Canelo win it.

Seems many people only focus about Canelo lost and forgot how much his win streaks so far.

It was a smart move for his team to avoid an early trilogy simce an older GGG is less of a threat to him. I honestly thought this would never happen but here we are...It will be Canelo by KO or Unanimous Decision. GGG couldn't knock out Canelo in the previous fights and I doubt he has the power to do it now or the speed to win by decision.

People would really be still loving to see this Trilogy which lots had been anticipating for too long and now it would really happen. THanks for the share up bud.
I do agree that it should really be done few years back where GGG isnt really still near on his retirement or simply being old but for sure he do still have something into his sleeves.
But i would really be still considering for Canelo on closing this one for good.  Wink

The consolation here is that GGG is still very much active as he just won over Murata.
So the preparation won't be that too hard for him because he is still active.
If in case Canelo will lose this fight, what do you think will be next for him?
Will GGG retire for good or arrange for another big fight? But who?
My prediction here is that GGG may be slightly favored by sportsbooks when it comes to odds.
