The thread title has not been changed yet, but I think it's still understandable as we are all updated on what is happening. It's Pacquiao vs Ugas, and this is not as fun as our expectation with the Pacman vs Spence. Anyway, I think I'll make a thread for Pacman vs Ugas so we also have our own discussion on the specific fight, and it will be easy for everyone to search this fight on google.

However, the coefficient on Ugas is very attractive, if you think objectively, he could have won one fight out of three against Pacquiao, which means that the bet on Ugas is profitable. Maybe I'll make a bet, at the moment I want even more analytics  Smiley

Not against your view but as a member of the PH community here, we know and understand the gap between Pacquiao and Ugas. Pacquiao is already in preparation for Spence for several weeks now while Ugas got surprised and I doubt he can maximize his training for about over a week now against Pacquiao.

But it's up to you if you still want to bet on Ugas. Profitable of course because of the odds but risky to take that and even it will rose to 4  or 5, I will pass.

I think it's just fair because Pacquiao was not also training for Ugas, but both of them will fight on the same day as Ugas is part of the underdog fight. Now, they need to figure out how to win against each other with just a little time, but in terms of physical training, they are already fit to proceed.

This thread title should be changed or lock this thread and create another thread for Pacquiao and Ugas since it's already official that the Pacquiao - Spence will not push through anymore, Pacquiao used to be the underdog but now he is the heavy favorite to win the fight, I'm not saying it's going to be an easy fight for Manny but Ugas is not on Spence level.

Yes, there's nothing special from Ugas, he is just an average boxer, not on the level of Spence.

I know that everyone is disappointed of the cancellation, but at least we will see Pacquiao maybe last time before the Philippine election and then hopefully he can still fight win or lose in his political ambition. Every fight is hard, no doubt, but if you are above level then maybe we will see Manny clenching his gloves again and eager for more action from Ugas if he doesn't want to engage Manny toe to toe.

I am in disbelief when I first heard the announcement about the cancellation of the fight. Upon reading the opinions of others, a torn retina is a very dangerous injury that can result to the ending of careers of boxers. While I do think that this reason is very acceptable, I do hope that they show legitimate and genuine documents proving that he did suffered from this injury.

Nevertheless, the fight between Pacquiao and Ugas will still be enjoyable- though not that much in my opinion. The funny thing is, Pacquiao would be the challenger of this fight since he'll be challenging his past WBO welterweight belt.

I don't really get the conspiracy theories. This would've been by far Spence's biggest paycheck and he was favored to win. Any top welterweight would kill to be in a position to fight the current version of Pacquiao. We have already seen Spence wearing an eyepatch from having surgery on Wednesday morning. It was reported that this injury was discovered by the Nevada commission. I don't think they would allow themselves to be used as cover for Spence if he was ducking.

I don't think there's a conspiracy theory here, if there is a fight Spence would like to make is the Pacquiao match, because every boxer in that weight category wants to fight Pacquiao for money and legacy, Spence is very much capable to beat Pacquiao and establish his legacy, there's no reason why he should not let this chance to slip, he is already in training it's frustrating for a boxer to go on hard training and the match discontinued.

I'm disappointed because my bet was cancelled, I can't anymore bet on Pacquiao as an underdog as the current odds against Ugas, he is a heavy favorites.

Odds in sportsbet

Manny Pacquiao 1.26
Yordenis Ugas 3.45

Lol. I predicted that Pacquiao would be the favorite in this pair, but I didn't think it would be that strong. However, the coefficient on Ugas is very attractive, if you think objectively, he could have won one fight out of three against Pacquiao, which means that the bet on Ugas is profitable.

It's a big surprise that Spence Jr. back out at the last minute, there are some speculations that they just made up the torn retina just to get away with Pacquiao, we all know that even Pacquaio is 40+ years old he still has the speed and agility and the team of Spence know that.

It's not yet at stake but maybe it's going to be there a few days from now so check their sportsbook from time to time.

it's just a shame that the match between Spence Jr. will not happen. We will see new generation versus legendary, though I think match between Ugas is a good match too.
It's not a shame but it's just a sudden situation that we have never expected. We're all eyes on it as the date is approaching. But the odds might be on the side of Pacquiao on this match. But if it's all about that we only want to watch Pacquiao have a match then there's no need to think of the changes and just look forward to the fight date.

If Pacquiao will lose in the Election, he will fight again in the ring. It's just about less than a year to go before the election so it's not that long to wait. Spence Jr at that time is now recovered.
So you think that he will be loosing the elections and then continue on fighting  Cheesy.

Pacquiao won't hang his gloves yet unless the new opponent will knock him out sending Pacquiao to retirement.

I see Pacquiao will still fight 2-3 times if he loses in the election. That was 1-2 years and his age will be around 43-44 years.
You really think that Manny Pacquiao is that crazy to spend his rest of his life in a wheel chair, you need to hang up the gloves one day and for that you do not need to get knocked out cold. Age is a major factor and his body will be banged up badly as he is fighting over 25 years from what i understand as he started at a really young age with amateur bouts so that he could eat.

Disappointed with the change of opponents at the last momentum but still Yordenis Ugas is a good test for Manny Pacquiao since he is returning after a long gap.

Check sportsbet.io because they have the odds already:

Pacquiao - 1.28
Ugas - 3.35

So Manny because now the huge favourite to win, but there is no surprise though. I think I would say that it could be an easy fight for him as Ugas in not on the same level as the great Pacquiao. But that ML is not that attractive obviously, it's too low for average gamblers.

The odds are out now for the new pair Manny Pacquiao and Yordenis Ugas. Manny, the one who was the underdog in the Pacquiao-Spence Jr. match, has now become the favorite. Betting for Manny has odds of 1.26 compared to Yordenis Ugas' 3.45.

With these new sets of odds I would have wanted for Pacquiao-Spence Jr to push through. My Manny bet would have been on 2.50 odds. That was great odds for me. But now it is already very low for Manny. But I think that's fair enough as he is now facing a much weaker opponent.

Nah I don't think that Pacquiao will take this fight personally regardless of whether he is stripped of the belt that Ugas now has or not. We all know how big mouth Roach is, he always do the trash talking while Pacquiao is simply Pacquiao doing the hard training and the mitts and doesn't comment any negative about the fighter that he is facing.

Yeah, probably just to hype the fight with Ugas because we all know that he is just a replacement fighter and all we want to see is Manny vs Errol in August 21.
Of course, they should hype this fight because some fans are thinking of a refund and they think that the fight is not going to be as exciting as the Spence fight, Ugas has a lot to gain for this fight if he beats and send Pacquiao to retirement, so Pacquiao should not take this fight easy, we all know what happened to the Horn fight where people are not expecting Horn to give him a rough fight, if possible he should knock Ugas out.

Ok here's one way Pacquiao is motivated as per Roach,

He said that Pacquiao is pissed out, because the title that he won against Thurman was handed to Ugas without due process, so he was stripped with that belt. So he might go for a knock out against Ugas here to claim that belt back. But I don't know if this is true though, we all know that Roach is the one hyping Manny's fight so take it with a grain of salt.

Roach has been promising a knockout for like the past 10 fights. Ugas has never been knocked out and Pacquiao only has 1 knockout in the past decade. I don't think Pacquiao coming off a 2 year layoff at 42 years old will be capable of getting the KO in this fight even if it is a late replacement opponent.

LOL, agreed. Ugas is one tough opponent for Pacquiao and has a good chin. I doubt that he can be knock out by Pacquiao unless if was really a perfect left that Ugas wasn't expected.

Pacquiao last knock out I believed is against Lucas Matthysse, but Lucas was already way past his prime and probably just accepted the fight for his last pay check (a good one), before retiring.

Eloncoin.org - Mars, here we come!
Ugas record is not that bad at all , and what amazed me like what you said is the idea that Ugas seems to be ready and trained to take over for Spence position >  Grin

this fight must happen now because the Philippine election is near to come and Manny will be busy campaigning for sure.
It sounds like it was just set at the right moment and he's that ready. Something might be up but who knows? That's what I thought because it's something to be busy for and I guess he needs to win this fight to make a fragrance across the political arena again, bringing victory for the country.
In Short this may come as "Advance political campaigning ""  Grin as obviously His interest in climbing high in his political career can be seen in his attitude nowadays to make His name popular more.

Quote
I haven't seen any fight with this Ugas but I guess this will be tough too to fight Manny from here on out with little preparation. Your thoughts, win or lose will Manny retires or not?
I've watched Him first time back in 2018 when he fought against Barrionuevo and Yeah he did well but His power punches for me wasn't enough to beating Manny Pacquiao .

But hope that the fight will give us moe excitement than what we expect against Spence .

But for him to say that he might still fight Pacquiao in the future? we will never know how negotiations are going to happen by that time. Pacquiao is known to be in another focus after this match so I guess if it's going to be a year or two, we'll never know if it's still possible or it could possibly be that Pacquiao already announces his retirement.

If Pacquiao will lose in the Election, he will fight again in the ring. It's just about less than a year to go before the election so it's not that long to wait. Spence Jr at that time is now recovered.

Yes, that's likely. He's going to run and that's for sure and that's where he's going to focus once this match ends. It's just a matter of time to him that he needs to rake profit on this match but as a boxer, we do really like him. And if by the time permits that both boxers are in good condition whether a year or two has passed, they might have the talks again. But that's what I think, it's highly unlikely that this fight will happen. If Pacquiao still likes to fight by that time he's done with election, there might be another line up for the possible match and that includes Errol but it would be up to him if he still likes it.
