Some nasty words coming from Ryan:

Quote
“After [Fortuna], I’m gonna go after Tank. I want to beat his ass.”

https://www.boxingscene.com/ryan-garcia-fortuna-im-gonna-go-tank-i-want-beat-his-ass--166843

He seems to be obsessed with Tank Davis, although he has been calling him even prior to the pandemic and then war of the words wherein we don't know who is telling the truth as far as stalling this fight. Let Ryan first win this fight with a knockout. If this is going to be a snoozer or a 12 round fight, a boring one, probably either Haney or Tank will just roast him in public and criticize his fight.

Ryan's promoter, Golden Boy, won't choose Fortuna if they are not seeing advantage to their boxer. Remember, Golden Boy is grooming Garcia so for now, it seems they are cherry picking their opponents. But Fortuna, is not to be considered as weak opponent. If he is well-prepared on this one, he can easily beat Garcia. Both should be in their training grounds to prepare for this fight.

What advantage? I think advantage is not the right term for that, for me, it's more of a chances. Ryan Garcia's camp wouldn't pick
Javier Fortuna for nothing and that is because their boy, Garcia, have more chances fighting the latter than Isaac "Pitbul" Cruz. They are indeed grooming and preparing Garcia to get big fights soon with the names like Kambosos or Tank Davis, they surely won't want Garcia to have his first defeat if a fight is not that big.

Yes, Golden Boy wanted to have Garcia fight a not so good boxers to make him more confident, after all this is just his second fight and I would say, still recovering from his mental breakdown. So it's an approach that we don't like because they are matching him with a no name fighter who just come out from a lost. So their chances to win or Ryan chances are good and once they think Ryan has mentally recovered, maybe the dangerous Isaac Cruz and then the big guns in the division.

He needs to fight someone who is a threat to his current record so that he will gonna further stretch his kills to the max and upgrade his power and speed to outmatch his next opponents until he became an undisputed champion himself.
Ryan Gracia undisputed championship record will be further improved if Ryan can win a KO from the boxing fight against Fortuna, Fortuna record is also very strong with a record 26 KO wins throughout his career. So Ryan must go through boxing matches without losing or drawing, because I believe he is optimistic that he can win that fight.
I also think so, Ryan Garcia must maintain his record as a boxer who always wins by knockout against his enemy.
Ryan Garcia is a great hitter and very fast, and at his young age he can stop some top boxers with his punching speed and I'm also optimistic he can beat Javier Fortuna by knockout.
but to say the greatest boxer of all time, I mean impossible, he just started his career but it is possible and depends.

Ryan Garcia's time will come and he should be patient for the time being because he himself know that he is still not his usual condition, after those issues he got, he still needs to prove the fans and people that he is back. He have a shot now to prove himself again and that is defeating Javier Fortuna with an impressive ending, but if his performance was still the same as he fought Tagoe back, I'm afraid he will just add another easy win to Gervonta Davis and give a stain in his own record.

He has this momentum and winning more fights with amazing outcomes will bring more fans back to him, from that part he will soon receive recognitions from promoters and those people behind this sport, Garcia needs to work more he still young and still at his prime, if he makes his way smooth, the next thing to happen is to challenge another title holder and snatch that chance to win a fight.. Roll Eyes Cool

This fight is another ticket for him to bring his name on top, step-by-step process slowly, but if he will keep on winning, there's no other thing but to be victorious again.

I agree with that! I really think that it's still too soon for him to face Tank Davis, given his condition and performance now, the latter won't have a hard time defeating him and worse is that Garcia's first lose is by a KO or TKO. He surely doesn't want that though that's why he needs to be more patient when chasing titles and having these kind of fights will help him to be more experienced. He's still young but his days are also running, it's just bad seeing him in his current state when he started really strong.

I am going to support Ryan - I like his speed and his punching technique.
Unfortunate for him that he is struggling with mental health - I think he is talented and smart - he can focus on his fitness and can live his dreams

I like his confidence and boxing skills too, you cannot compare him to anyone because the guy is still young and have lots of room for improvement. After this fight, I hope he will have his time to shine against a worthy opponent as well. We also need to see him struggling in his practice to level up and beat his strong opponents. He needs to fight someone who is a threat to his current record so that he will gonna further stretch his kills to the max and upgrade his power and speed to outmatch his next opponents until he became an undisputed champion himself.

Yes, actually he was their first choice prior to Ryan taking a break. Maybe they really know that Ryan can beat this guy. And now that he is available again and they don't want to risk Ryan fighting a guy name Isaac Cruz for a title eliminator, they go on a safest route for their cash cow. So no matter what Ryan says, he is still under Golden Boy and will be protected.

It adds reputation to any boxer's career if he beats a former champion, and Fortuna happens to be a two-time champion, but of course, Fortuna is not on the caliber of Haney and Gervonta Davis, if Jojo Diaz Jr. can beat him why not Ryan Garcia who is a much better fighter, but of course, there's a possibility of an upset, if upset happen this will make a huge disrupt on Ryan Garcia's career he is better off to be an Instagram king than a boxing champion.

My question is..... What excuse is Ryan Garcia going to come up to withdraw from this fight? We know he used "mental issues" and a "wrist injury" as an excuse... so there are not a lot else he can use for this fight.

I hope, if he decides to fight.. that he will be well prepared, because Javier Fortuna has got an explosive left paw and he swing like crazy, so if one or two of those swings goes home, Garcia is going to be in trouble.   Wink

I am looking forward to this fight.... and my bet will go towards Javier Fortuna.  Grin
Mental problems were the reason for Garcia to cancel the fight earlier, some media said that Garcia had a problem with severe anxiety disorders, but fortunately now the fight has officially been set july 19, indeed Fortune is a strong boxer but his long absence from boxing has certainly made his performance decline a bit now, besides the age factor might make me more confident that Garcia will win the fight by knockout in the third round, so far I have seen that Garcia is a boxer who is confident enough to face any opponent and certainly his fast and aggressive fighting style will certainly make his opponents cornered.

Well I just hope he hasn't used that as an excuse not to fight, because mental problems and mental health in athletes is a topic that is very fashionable, especially for women, but taking into account Fortuna's hunger to win It's incredible, and given that this whole scenario has developed like this, logic says that the best thing is to bet on Fortuna, because in the case of Ryan I don't know how well prepared he is to face this challenge, he has also been very out of shape, I don't know how demanding his training is at the moment, but the fight is close, and the odds point to Fortuna winning, of course this can change, suddenly we have an upset and Ryan gets a knockout, anything is possible.

I could feel that he will prove himself more in this fight. He's in the process of creating a big name in the industry and he shouldn't miss this chance to be victorious again. His previous matches were too challenging so I guess his losses will give him all the eagerness to be victorious this time. Ryan is young and could build up a strong name in the industry but he should show up his stamina in every fight.
Yes, that's why he requested an immediate match for this year because maybe he is not satisfied with his Tagoe performance and wanted to prove to everyone that he is one of the best in this division. And then seeing Tank and Haney winning? Ryan could be brewing inside and wanted to fight either of those two. But he has to overcome Fortuna first and gain back his confidence so that he will still be relevant and can be a good challenger for Tank Davis and Devin Haney.

He better admit to himself that he ain't that impressive on the said fight against Tagoe, and now he's calling Tank Davis? Is he really serious? He and his team was even afraid to take the fight against Pitbull, how much more if it's Kambosos or Davis. lol

I agree he is not convincing in his last fight against Tagoe, boxers are assessed based on their last fight and how they perform, Ryan can not have a performance like that and call out big names, this is the reason why his promoters opted for him to fight Fortuna, all he has to do is to knock out Fortuna show class and domination then he can call out the likes of Tank or Haney, but right now he should shut up train hard so he can give us a good fight where we can be impressed.

Yes, but Ryan still wants to fight Tank Davis, hehehe, he went as far as talking to Leonard Ellerbe in the Davis vs Romero fight and saying f***ed Golden Boy.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYHtTvOYAmg

But then again, we will have to wait for him to hurdle Fortuna first. He should do the talking inside the ring because I must admit the hype on Ryan is gone now. We have Davis and Haney as the top dog in this division. And we all know that Golden Boy doesn't want him to get closer with those names right now because he is not ready yet. Boxing is not just about who can punch hard, there are also some psychological aspects that Ryan doesn't have as of the moment. Or we can say that he is still immature with all his social media antics.

What an early hype for him calling someone who already proven their position now in this sport, like what you both said his last fight is not that impressive, fans may still back him up but he needs to bring something to catch more attentions, he should be focusing with his hard trainings to condition, and put some aggressiveness against Fortuna.

He should do the talk once he made his statement about his upcoming fight. It will surely bring the attention of those

fighters he wanted to fight next..

I am going to support Ryan - I like his speed and his punching technique.
Unfortunate for him that he is struggling with mental health - I think he is talented and smart - he can focus on his fitness and can live his dreams

If against Fortuna then I will also side with Ryan Garcia, the kid just needs some push to get him straight so that we can see him again fighting comfortably in the ring and his usual knockout punch. The thing is that he's more vocal these days even his actions doesn't speak well for him, he's challenging major players in the industry even though he's still struggling to get this rhythm back.

He should win this fight and we might see a Garcia vs Tank, that would be an interesting fight as he got some height and a good reach that could catch Haney even though Haney is not so aggressive and just play smart boxing like what he did to Kambasos. I love boxers who are aggressive, and although Haney is good, I might put my bet on Garcia to beat him.
