^ That will be great if he is going to be match against Isaac Cruz. I think anyone in the division is going to be a mismatch nightmare for the Pitbull and then he was power too, so he is really a danger that's why Ryan's handler is not yet ready to match him with Cruz. And they could reason that this is supposed to happen before and now that they are just obliging perhaps because of their contract with Fortuna's camp to give him a fight against Ryan. So we will see after in this fight if Garcia is ready for the big stage and fight the other champions.

Yes, it would be a great challenge for Ryan Garcia to straighten his path once and for all and that is if his camps accepted the order of WBC but as I said in my early posts, they cannot afford to see Garcia being defeated by Pitbull because they're looking forward to see bigger fights against Kambosos Jr. or Tank Davis. Let's see if Garcia can correct his mistakes and if he will improve more from the Tagoe fight.

What are you saying, that Fortuna is an unknown boxer with just 1 win? Hope that was not what you wanted to type there because that is not true. Fortuna has more KOs than the entire all wins of Garcia. He is not an ordinary boxer. Even if you do not like him or know anything about him but for sure Garcia and his team know that Fortuna is not a newcomer in boxing. He knows how to punch too. Pray he does not knock your nan down.
But the question, is Javier Fortuna a household name or not? Majority of us are not aware of this fighter and although he has more fights that Ryan, most likely they are not in the headlines or just in the undercard of another boxing events.

Why do we want to count if a boxer is a household name or not before we think he is good. That is not a right way to judge it. Was Andy Ruiz Jr a household name before he met and defeated Anthony Joshua? Fights are won in the rings and not at home. Good you know he has won more fight than Garcia. Infact, Fortuna has won more fights by KOs alone than the entire fights won by Garcia. Fortuna deserves some respect for he is not a pushover. Eventhough he may be almost a decade older than Garcia and someone will think that can slow him down but I do not think so.

Ryan Garcia vs Javier Fortuna July 19 at Crypto.com

This two is supposed to fight same month last year, but Ryan has to pull out because of his mental health issues.

Ryan was offered to fight Isaac Cruz as ordered by the WBC as a title eliminator, unfortunately, Golden Boy says no to the fight.

As expected, I know that Ryan's camp would reject the fight against Pitbull even if that was ordered by the WBC. Anyhow, this explains that their camp is really expecting Ryan Garcia to be back in his usual rhythm and they are preparing him for a bigger fight because they are quite speeding the process, I mean Ryan just got a fight last April against Tagoe and now they again have a fight this July against a decent boxer that was recently defeated by Diaz.

My question is..... What excuse is Ryan Garcia going to come up to withdraw from this fight? We know he used "mental issues" and a "wrist injury" as an excuse... so there are not a lot else he can use for this fight.

"Can't make the 135 lbs limit anymore", Remember in the Tagoe fight, it is in a catchweight of 138 lbs. So I was surprised that this is on the limit so let's see if Ryan will not have a problem regarding the weight.

I hope, if he decides to fight.. that he will be well prepared, because Javier Fortuna has got an explosive left paw and he swing like crazy, so if one or two of those swings goes home, Garcia is going to be in trouble.   Wink

I am looking forward to this fight.... and my bet will go towards Javier Fortuna.  Grin

He is being trained by Goosen now, he no longer under Reynoso's stable so I think he will have a new motivation to train hard and not to get upset by Fortuna because it will derail GBP plans on him to fight bigger names in the future like Haney and Tank Davis.

Ryan is once again cherry picking. It seems Ryan Garcia's camp is still not very confident of their boy. Is he not ready to face bigger fishes yet?

After his hibernation, he doesn't seem ready yet after his tune-up fight with Tagoe. And now Ryan is facing another unknown boxer who has 1 win streak, which was against a more unknown boxer with a loss rate of almost 50% of the wins.

Ryan becomes less and less of a fighter outside of social media. Lol.
He is a young fighter who is enough to make the boxing world go into an uproar but after a long time he hibernates why should he fight with this boxer.
honestly I never knew about Javier Fortuna this maybe because I didn't follow it thoroughly and only a few I watched in this class but indeed I feel this is a boxer who is not very well known and if you see what you say then indeed this is most likely to be a win absolute for Ryan if what you're talking about is true

Why is The Golden Promotion feeding this kind of fight on Ryan he is already ripe he is not a starter boxer he should be fighting the like of Haney, Kambosos, or Tank it seems he is not yet ready for the big fight, big-name fighters in the lightweight division have done a lot and fought the best and win the title, but look at Ryan he is just all talks but he and his promotion cannot back it up.
It's so obvious that The Golden Boy promotion doesn't want to kill their goose that lays the golden egg yet.

Maybe because they are setting him up to rake in the wins first before they let him fight the big guns in order to get as much exposure and promotion as possible. It's a simple tactic, but also a clever one considering that the more wins a fighter has, the more following and the more fans tend to pay to watch the man go on toe-to-toe against bigger names. Can't blame GBP because that is how they make money.

Mental problems were the reason for Garcia to cancel the fight earlier, some media said that Garcia had a problem with severe anxiety disorders, but fortunately now the fight has officially been set july 19, indeed Fortune is a strong boxer but his long absence from boxing has certainly made his performance decline a bit now, besides the age factor might make me more confident that Garcia will win the fight by knockout in the third round, so far I have seen that Garcia is a boxer who is confident enough to face any opponent and certainly his fast and aggressive fighting style will certainly make his opponents cornered.

This time Ryan Garcia will not withdraw. The schedule is already next month. It looks like Ryan Garcia is training the whole time while looking for a worthy named opponent. His opponent is a former world champion but is not the same boxer as before. Javier Fortuna will have little time to prepare than normal boxers that train two to three months period. This is a Golden Boy Promotions tactic so their fighter will have the upper hand.

BTC to the MOON in 2019

Recently, I haven't heard about him getting into fights which makes it a disadvantage on his side because inactive player somehow means that he isn't also training well enough compared to other active boxers nowadays. Despite his numbers of match surpassing Garcia, I doubt he will be a crowd's favorite.

People think that Fortuna is just another tune up fight of Garcia, maybe it's true because Garcia is looking to fight Davis after this fight if he wins. I would not expect that Fortuna can upset Garcia here because it's obviously a cherry-pick fight by Garcia's camp.

On the contrary, I pray that this highly unknown Fortuna will knock Garcia down, if not out. At least this will somehow make him realize that the next time he chooses an opponent it should be a fighter who is on his level. If he goes down, at least he goes down in the hands of a worthy opponent.

What I meant was that Fortuna's latest win streak is only 1. That's not even a streak. And that was against Rafael Hernandez who's got 14 losses and 32 wins. He lost his fight before that. I don't know for you, but I don't see this kind of fighter a worthy opponent against a young talent with 22-0-18.

Garcia career is currently on the rise and of course it is very natural that many people are favoring him to win in that fight, so far Garcia has quite an impressive record with 21 wins and 0 losses from 21 fights, even he was able to make 18 of his opponents lose by knockout, so it's worth making Fortuna to be careful with the young boxer, but I think so far Garcia has only faced a boxer who may be within his level limit and it will be very interesting if later he will face Fortuna who is an experienced boxer who has won the former WBA super featherweight Even though he has not boxed for a long time, Fortuna also cannot be underestimated because during his career he has recorded 36 wins with 25 KO, two losses, one draw and win one without a fight and this clearly shows that Fortuna is also a good boxer.

Fortuna's boxrec: https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/494223

Garcia's boxrec:  https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/765995

Fortuna isn't really popular unlike Garcua because way back, he mostly fights with unknown boxers too. Although that's not a bad thing because fighting against amateurs could be a stepping stone. However, his fights were more of it. He was active in boxing industry a few years back. If I'm not mistaken, it's like 5 years ago.

Recently, I haven't heard about him getting into fights which makes it a disadvantage on his side because inactive player somehow means that he isn't also training well enough compared to other active boxers nowadays. So this is a step up for him, however, as others said, call it whatever we want, cherry pick, GBP protecting Ryan, tune up fights. Because this seems to be what they want for Ryan right now. Not to fight the boxers that can potentially beat him.
Fortuna isn't in shape anymore, he was an active boxer before 2017 and rarely fought after that. The reason why he's not really known is he fight with a bad boxer and not looking to obtain a champion belt. Talking about he's more experienced and better than Garcia is not entirely correct, but you're not wrong too. I've watched Fortuna vs Diaz, it was a close fight and he should have a power to beat Garcia. But as we know Fortuna doesn't have a clean record and not popular, I wouldn't surprised if Fortuna accept to lose to get paid with a huge money.

If there's an official announcement Garcia will fight against Haney or Tank, then I will shut my mouth of talking him cherry pick his opponent.

It's a little funny how the undefeated and rising star, with a name of King Ryan on his Instagram, is fighting against tiny pawns. After calling out big names in boxing, he is actually fighting against small names. Or perhaps his failure to knock out Tagoe means he still needs another conditioning fight?

After this fight, I hope Garcia will begin facing tougher men. It doesn't look nice to have so lop-sided odds. It appears as if he's babied. For his last 2 fights, he's got 1.06 and 1.11.

Thought it will not be the same since they already tune up to boy with Tagoe yet there it is again. He proved to be a hard puncher against Tagoe, the fight should have boost his conviction to find a good pone to beat.  But I'm also looking forward to see Shakur vs Garcia for title fight of Garcia. If he really is hungry for more fight as its something to be challenged.

Anyway, crypto.com arena looks ready to pump its own coin.
