So he moved to super featherweight and not going to defend his belt at featherweight? that's weird though, at least it's before to defend it one time before going up in weight.

He still holds the WBC Featherweight title. It's just that the WBC Super Featherweight title got vacated and as a WBC Champion at 126, he is qualified to fight for the vacant WBC 130 lbs title. If he wins, he needs to decide whether to continue in the new division, the 130 lbs, or return to 126 lbs to defend his crown or to push to his original plan, hoping for unification fights against WBA Featherweight Champion Leo Sta Cruz.

To simply explain this:

- if Rey Vargas will win against Foster, likely he will continue his journey at 130lbs and will give up his 126lbs title
- if Rey Vargas will lose against Foster, he will return to 126lbs as a champion and will mandatory face the winner between Mark Magsayo and Brandon Figueroa for his title defense match
- if Rey Vargas will finally move up to 130lbs as a champion, the winner between Magsayo and Figueroa will be elevated as a full champion

Someone can correct me on this if I missed something. Smiley

Yeah, if there will be another order then Donaire's camp just have to obey it, and also the other camp that has been placed and ordered to fight against him.
There's nothing much they can do and we as fans just also have to watch them and wait for further notice and decision for any camp that might be requested as contenders for that title.

For sure there will be another order from any of the governing body for Donaire to fight and held their belt.

Although if you look at the rankings, it should be Donaire (2) vs Nawaphon Sor. Rungvisai (3), but WBC can order as well like the winner of 4 vs 5 fighting the winner of that fight. So there are a lot of scenario's for WBC on how they are going to stake their belt since Inoue vacated it.

Hopefully it will just one fight that includes Donaire and then the winner fighting the rests of the rank player as they defend it next.
We just have to wait for that next order on who's going to be his match partner. I guess that Moloney was able to decline because he's not the immediate opponent that Donaire should have and he can be spared any punishment that the org might impose.
But anyway, enough with him as he has already expressed what he's going to do. As for Donaire winning the title, if there will be challengers then he has to defend his title IF ever he gets this vacated title.

In any case, it seems that he is the favorite even though moving up in weight.

Rey Vargas is coming to the super featherweight as a champion and Foster, on the other hand, is currently the Rank 1 contender in that division. Therefore, Vargas is the obvious favorite to win that match. Although, I was surprised by the huge gap in odds.

No idea how Foster way of fighting but if he's used to fighting at the Super Featherweight, he should at least can give trouble to the undefeated Rey Vargas. But knowing Vargas, he won't challenge the WBC Super Featherweight if he's not ready for it.

Just less than a week before the clash and we will see how this fight will turned out.

Yeah, this is one of the best women's fight in recent memories, two ladies throwing everything but the kitchen sink hehehe. Kudos to Erika one tough SOB, just really keeps going even if she has the huge gash in his forehead. Serrano too didn't go unscathed in this fight.

It's just that Serrano punch is accurate and hitting Cruz at the temple to score a lopsided win in the judges card.
Truly one of the fights that will be remembered. It's difficult to forget that much blood that was being spread all over the place.  Grin
I wish Erika Cruz will come back to try again. She had a chance, she is tough, and if only that headbutt didn't happen, maybe we will see a different ending or the score might be different. Maybe even closer.
Serrano was so focused, all her jabs were sinking in and Cruz had a hard time trying to go near to use her inside boxing.

While Alycia Baumgardner drops Mekhaled 2 times and I thought that it will end in a knockout, but he won on the card UD to unified the 130 lbs division division.
I missed watching the co-main event. Thanks for the update. Well, it seems like the predictions were right but I took a bet for a knockout so both fights are a loss for me. Baumgardner is the heavy favorite but I was looking forward to a knockout as I don't find it profitable to just bet on the winner only.
She did knock her down but it lacks more power to keep her on the mat.

One hell of a fight in the Women's division.
I cannot believe no one was knocked out by those exchanges. It's like they are throwing thousands of punches for every round. Erika Cruz bleeding like crazy due to the headbutt and yet it was not stopped by the doctor although he kept checking on their corner. I think it was round 3 where the cut happened so she lasted for 7 more rounds even with all the blood splattering all over the canvas.

This was not an easy win for Amanda Serrano, I mean Erika Cruz was so tough that even with all the blood in her face that blocks her sight, she still managed to last that long. Serrano on the other hand had some bruises on her face.
The fight ended with a unanimous decision in favor of Serrano.
Cruz should start working out her jabs, she is wasting a lot of energy throwing inaccurate punches.
Lost my bet, but it is cool, very entertaining fight.

In YouTuber boxing news it appears that Jake Paul is already looking passed Tommy Fury and negotiating a fight with KSI. It appears KSI sent over a contract to fight at 175 but Jake Paul wants to fight at 185. I’m sure they’ll meet somewhere in the middle or work out a rehydration clause that everyone is happy with. Interesting that this fight is being negotiated before the Tommy Fury fight even happens.

After successfully beat Mark Magsayo and steal his WBC featherweight, now Vargas decide to move to super featherweight and challenge O'Shaquie Foster for vacant WBC super featerweight title. The fight will happen on February 11, 2023 or next a week at Toyota Arena, Ontario, California, U.S. Based on the moneyline odds Vargas is favorite with 1.45x odds while Foster is an underdog with 2.65x odds.

Still waiting the odds for Rey Vargas winning via decision.

Yeah, I totally forgot about this fight, and just checking the odds, it's just the ML so far.

Foster is rated number 1 by the WBC, and of course Rey Vargas in their featherweight champion, so he has that privilege to fight for their vacant belt. Although there are talks of Vargas facing Leo Santa Cruz but obviously it feel off.

Tough WBC rankings, we have LSC, and then Oscar Valdez and Robson Conceicao all in the top 5 rankings.

Weigh in for Serrano vs Cruz,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Szk5HSIFOzE

Serrano aiming to be the first Puerto Rican to become unified champion in boxing and likely she can make it happen in this fight. I agree though, it's not going to be profitable even if we parlay, so might likely to just watch the fight and see it there will be an upset.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsZqRQrwKME

Baumgardner vs Mekhaled weight in
It looks tense for Serrano vs Cruz, it seems fans are more excited for the bell to ring on that weigh-in.  Cheesy
So what do you think? A KO may be in Amanda Serrano's favor or will the toughness of Erika Cruz will bring this fight to the 10 round and let the judges make a decision? I cannot wait for it to start but I have some trouble predicting if it will end in a KO. That's where I want to put my bet instead of the unprofitable odds of just winning. I am at Amanda's side so KO for her.
Here is the line now.

She had not won a KO for her last 4 fights so I guess this is it now. Show the strength of a 4 title holder. Not that I am underestimating Erika Cruz because like I said this may become a tough and intense fight.

I don't like the idea of him picking the same race like having a fight against another Filipino who's also aiming for the belt. But who knows, this is boxing and the position is vacated so, they can have each others hand on line and pull it.

If that's how it will go, then no choice but to face each other. Besides, it's not really in Donaire's camp to decide who will be his next opponent.

For now, who's gonna be the one that will be put as a mandatory fighter to challenge the WBC Bantamweight is still in question.

Let's follow the progress of that story.

Nothing that we can do now, we are all going to wait for further development and update regarding to how the organization will decide to who's going to be the fighter that will take the shot for this vacant title, I can say that fans are all waiting and whoever the fighter will be there's always support that the fight will gain, both real followers and the gamblers are waiting for the decision, we all know how huge this sport are and how many businesses outside the sports are also looking forward to follow this event.

And with that age, comes Donaire's knowledge and experience, he might not have the speed just like when he was in his prime, however, his timing is still perfect for this division, that's why he was able to knock out younger boxer than him, until he hit a snag on a prime Inoue.

In any case, we should give Donaire his due if ever this fight pushes, and we can say that his chances are still very high to win this fight.

For all we know, this might not last the full 12 rounds or go to the judges scorecard.

Yeah timing is what Donaire will take advantage, he knows that Maloney is not an easy opponent and also have that capability in throwing solid punches if he will be lazy not to prepare for this fight, though for sure the flash always take each fight as serious as it will be his last fight, we will expect him to analyze Maloney and he will adjust appropriately.

Experienced with proper executions, that's how I see Donaire once this fight takes place.

This reminds me of the old saying that my grandfather says: "Old dog barks lying down" and it is yes, with the experience that Donaire has it is something unique, it is not that he is that old, in fact I think that a more mature boxer knows very well well how to manage his times and apart from everything he knows his body very well and knows what his abilities are, what he can and cannot do, so I see this as an advantage, also that a young boxer does not have these cares, so it is more towards risk or something and although it is good, when it comes to someone with experience it is different, however this will be interesting if it happens with Nonito.

After Beterbiev knocked down Yarde, he's calling for Jake Paul to fight with him lol. I believe Paul will act like he never know anything and avoid to fight with Beterbiev, because he will get knock out in just few seconds. Paul know if he's a nothing in boxing and he has many option to cherry pick a new opponent.

I was misled here. I thought Beterbiev really calls for Jake Paul for a fight lol.

Someone like him won't just engage in a non-sense fight without a reason.

The story is, Beterbiev just responded to Jake Paul's taunt in one of the latter's streams. That triggered Beterbiev to call for organizing a fight against the hype Youtuber turned into a boxing personality. Jake Paul won't risk his life against Beterbiev lol. Good thing though that Beterbiev reacted to that taunt as that turned Jake Paul into a silent shit. No response until now.
In these types of events it is good that Bterbiev did and left that, because he first did it once he defeated Yarde, he is not like other Canelo-style boxers who has not even fought his previous fight and is challenging other opponents, making a fool of himself. to the opponent who has to fight, however, we can say that Beterbiev is one of the boxers who took the most care in that sense because he did not start saying it to the vox populi or in a mockery way, Jake Paul can hide wherever he wants, it is also known that Beterbiev would kill him after about 10 seconds of the fight, for this reason a boxer must always maintain his good reputation.

Boxing pound-for-pound rankings: Artur Beterbiev wins but doesn't impress; where does he land?

Quote
Light heavyweight unified champion Artur Beterbiev defended his three world titles with an eighth-round TKO victory over Anthony Yarde on Jan. 28 in London. It was Beterbiev's 19th stoppage victory in 19 professional fights. He's the only current champion with 100% KO accuracy.

However, for many of our panelists, the victory wasn't impressive enough to move him up on the pound-for-pound list. Beterbiev got hit, a lot, and Yarde was up in two of the three scorecards when the fight as stopped.

"It was another impressive win for Beterbiev, but not enough to leapfrog Errol Spence Jr., who's defeated better competition," ESPN boxing writer Mike Coppinger said about keeping Beterbiev at No. 8 on his list. "Beterbiev will need to face [Dmitry] Bivol if he wants to move up in the ranks."

Others, like ESPN writer Ben Baby, moved Beterbiev high on the list because while he gets hit, Beterbiev is still dominating.

I agree with you, although we don't want to see both Filipino boxers fighting as we only have few boxers who reach at a high level, but this is business, it defends on the organization and everytime a boxer will have a fight, they always sees it as an opportunity to shine, regardless of whom they'll face for that particular fight.

Correct no matter what it is, if the fighter seen opportunities, then the first reaction is to grab it whoever his opponent will be,
I can say that what the organization will declare then it will happen.

If ever both are in the same race, then it will be a sure shot for the belt to go home and be a pride of the country. I still going
to support whatever it will be.

We should move on with that kind of mentality, I guess it's better to see Filipinos fighting against each other for the championship belt. Sooner or later it will happen, we've seen Donaire vs Gaballo already so we might see another one as there is another name like Astrolabio. Their goal is to win belts for the Filipinos so that they will enjoy another world champion. There were time that there are a lot of Filipino champions, Manny, Nietes, Villoria and Nonito Donaire in the same year having a belt.
