I don't like the idea of him picking the same race like having a fight against another Filipino who's also aiming for the belt. But who knows, this is boxing and the position is vacated so, they can have each others hand on line and pull it.

If that's how it will go, then no choice but to face each other. Besides, it's not really in Donaire's camp to decide who will be his next opponent.

For now, who's gonna be the one that will be put as a mandatory fighter to challenge the WBC Bantamweight is still in question.

Let's follow the progress of that story.

After Beterbiev knocked down Yarde, he's calling for Jake Paul to fight with him lol. I believe Paul will act like he never know anything and avoid to fight with Beterbiev, because he will get knock out in just few seconds. Paul know if he's a nothing in boxing and he has many option to cherry pick a new opponent.

I was misled here. I thought Beterbiev really calls for Jake Paul for a fight lol.

Someone like him won't just engage in a non-sense fight without a reason.

The story is, Beterbiev just responded to Jake Paul's taunt in one of the latter's streams. That triggered Beterbiev to call for organizing a fight against the hype Youtuber turned into a boxing personality. Jake Paul won't risk his life against Beterbiev lol. Good thing though that Beterbiev reacted to that taunt as that turned Jake Paul into a silent shit. No response until now.

Well, that's a missing match for Donaire and we've thought that everything's all set but yup, Moloney has to agree first and it seems that his plans aren't in line with what Nonito is trying to aim.
We'll be cheering for all of the Pinoy boxers and we're just here to support whoever is going to be their opponents.
Still not a missed for Donaire as he can still fight the next in the rank if I'm not mistaken. It's more on Moloney side, but the can target the other organizations belt as he is also a ranked boxer in them. And maybe it will be good for him because he won't be facing the Filipino Flash and could be facing less experience boxers.

I think it's a good move for either, chase separate boxer and get the job done.

As for the Pinoys, yeah its good that they are in the ranking in the bantamweight but they did to do a good job because this division is very tough. Even without Inoue already.
My phrase is wrong I guess. Yes, it's not a miss on him and it's that the match against Moloney is gonna be missed as there's really no match that will happen.
I don't like the idea of him picking the same race like having a fight against another Filipino who's also aiming for the belt. But who knows, this is boxing and the position is vacated so, they can have each others hand on line and pull it.

I don't know if you guys have seen a video of Kell Brook snorting a powdery white substance in a table, this video has been all over the social media. And Brook admitted that the video is real and now issue a public apology.

He admitted that he has mental problems because he can't accept the fact that he has retired already and resorting to drugs.

Brook even hinted that he wanted to fight Liam Smith next after he defeated Eubank a couple of weeks ago. But with that video, I don't think that he will be given the chance. And regarding his mental health, it's real and everyone could be a victim, specially sports athlete.

Friends, I might disappoint you by saying that Bivol vs Beterbiev fight is not going to happen in nearest future. The reason is simple - Dmitri Bivol is representing Russia. In November 2022, Mauricio Sulaiman, world boxing council, has removed Russian and Belorussian boxer from ranking and dont allow them to participate. So either the war ends before their potential fight (not likely), or he will make an exception for Bivol (also not likely), or Bivol would have to change his passport. Probably both will have one more fight before they might possibly meet.
I don't think all those options will happen. Damn war and politics affecting our beloved sports. Thanks for clearing that out though, it seems like we forgot there's a war happening out there.
Also according here, he has not approached WBC yet for an exemption.
Quote
“Bivol has not approached the WBC (to ask for an exemption)," Sulaiman told reporters and Izquierdazo. “At our last Convention, we were very clear about our position in relation to fighters from Russia and Belarus. And that is the case with Bivol."
Well, I guess we have no choice but to wait for that war to end.

We almost forgot it since it's been a year since these 2 countries are still bombarding with each other. Many Ukrainians are affected, heritages being destroyed and at the same time, sports has been affected on these 2 countries and that includes the boxers from Russia and Belarus which is a bit unfortunate if you are a boxing fan. I just hope that this war will end soon or maybe this year, and I also hope that this war between between 2 countries will not escalate anymore to the point that other countries will join the war.

I guess the best option for Bivol with the 3 options that he shares is to change his passport. I don't expect the WBC to make an exception for him just for the sake of money. Very disappointing, but understandable and it's beyond his control anymore.

I'm also guilty about that as I did also forgot that there's an unfortunate situation that is still going on in the North because Dmitry Bivol already got two fights even at the height of the Ukrain-Russia war and honestly, I did not see this coming that the WBC will still keep their stand about the Russian/Belarus fighters because I did think that they are now on a neutral phase because sports is an entertainment and the said fighters doesn't have any concerns and involvements about the ongoing war. This is just too unfortunate, not just for them but to us, the avid boxing fans as well.

118 lbs division is going to see a lot of fights for this year as Inoue has vacated all the belts.

And for Filipino fans out there, there are 3 in the hunt for the either of the 4 belts, Astrolabio, Gaballo and of course Nonito Donaire. Each will fight for the belt no doubt about it.

Vincent Astrolabio-Emmanuel Rodriguez was ordered already by the IBF

Donaire vs Moloney by WBC although Moloney show intention not to pursue the fight. So Donaire will have to look for someone to fight for the WBC

Moloney though might look for Reymart Gaballo for WBO belt.

So it's going to be exciting for Filipino boxing fans once more as we could add another champion in the list before the end of the year.
(Worst case scenario, 3 of them lost,  Angry)

Recently I have watched a short video of Beterbiev being interviewed in the airport on a return home. He has said that he is interested in unifying belts, but he has added (figuratively, not saying directly) that "a fight can not happen if one boxer wants to fight, but other dont want to fight". He did not say directly that Bivol refuses, nor he refuses to fight Bivol. But he has made it clear that it is not easy to make this fight. There is something in between. Management, money, politics, tactics. So guess we just need to wait.

Wow, I didn't know that, thanks for the information.
I guess this image will help to avoid confusion as I am really getting dizzy about the rankings and how they match players.  Grin

Source: https://www.boxingscene.com/rankings
So Moloney has different choices because he was at the top rank in 3 divisions But if he does pick to fight Nonito Donaire for the WBC title that means what's left on the other divisions will be fighting for it as a mandatory case. So, a Moloney versus Vincent Astrolabio is also possible, right? As long as Astrolabio had not decided to take the IBF fight against Rodriguez.
In WBC, next to Donaire is Rungvisai who has an upcoming fight this February. He will be up against Gaballo if that happens as he is next in line.
It becomes a big puzzle whenever the champion leaves 4 titles.  Cheesy

I guess, that's the only thing left where Bivol have to change his nationality and post, by then, probably that's enough to convince the WBC to make the fight happen and so that the people will witness the much awaited unification between Bivol and Beterbiev. But that said, I guess Beterbiev will be fighting Callum Smith next because of this scenario as it's not easy on Bivol's side to transfer his residency. Also, I've read that the WBC is looking forward that Bob Arum will discuss this matter with Eddie Hear to make the Smith-Beterbiev fight.

Callum Smith.
Quote
Sulaiman clarified that Beterbiev’s next fight must be a mandatory defense against Callum Smith, who had previously held a world title at super middleweight.
Smith only had one defeat and it was against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.
May not be the fight we are looking for but it is said to be a mandatory defense. The favorite will obviously be Beterbiev again at an exaggerated number, another non-profitable bet for the gamblers. Let's just guess which round he will be knocked out.

Let's give Beterbiev's camp a rest and let them enjoy the win, if things will happen negotiation might be there for these two camps, unifying the belts is really something special as fighters will add it to his legacy once he finally retires his gloves, Both fighters are interested I'm assuming that they are both willing to take that risk for unifying the belts and let the fans enjoy when they showcase their talents and bring all the belts in their respective name.

Looks like he has a lot of improvement when we look carefully at this fight because he took those punches as if it's nothing to him. Man! he didn't even put some effort into his punches due to the fact they are powerful enough to hurt his opponent and slowly beat them throughout the rounds until they can no longer take it. That's why they really wanted to make this fight happen after this one after all it's a unification bout and when you look at it, it should be their hardest battle so far and whoever wins this fight, he truly deserves it to be named the true champion in their weight division.

I'm hoping that one day we will have a thread about Bivol and Beterbiev, that they finally going to meet in the ring with a date of the course, and a contract, there are so many speculations when it comes to two fighters I hope between these two fighters we will not see issues like what we have seen between Spence and Crawford they just want to make people hoping when we have the date and the contract we'll then have a healthy discussion between these two fighters.

Maybe a Beterbiev-Bivol unification fight is more possible to happen than a Spence-Crawford fight.

It's clear that Beterbiev is eager to fight Bivol to fully unified all the belts in the Light Heavyweight.

For now, according to Top Rank, there hasn't been any talk started right now but one thing is for sure, Bivol might be the next in line if no things will spoil it.

That's a good fight for sure, unifying all the belts in a champion's perspectives I see that Bivol will bite it up, he's still young and if he will beat Beterbiev, his name will hype for more and the money that will be stake on him will be much higher, I like also the possibility of comparing speed over power, as we all know that Bivol quickness is his advantage while Beterbiev solid punches is what he've got.

Yes, the Beterbiev-Bivol unification bout got a much higher chance of happening and that's not doubt compared to the Spence-Crawford unification bout that is still beyond the clouds and for the mankind to reach for now. Eddie Hearn and Bob Arum might close a deal on this one because the latter already gave his word that there's a good chance the fight will happen as long as Beterbiev will successfully defend his belt versus Yarde. Now the terms has been done, the only lacking is for the both camps to start their respective discussion and hoping that this will happen before the end of 3rd quarter this year.

No reactions yet from Jake Paul yeah? Lol. I'm not even sure if he'll react to this or nah, but of course he will, most probably.
If he's still doing YouTube, reactions are gonna be a good content to earn views.
If Jake accepts this challenge, he will have himself a death wish. Though he still have a fight against Tommy by the end of Feb, but this one from Beterviev should be next lol.

Later down the road with Beterbiev retires, maybe they will want to go and fight. But not this version of Arthur, Jake Paul will avoid it at all cost. Not sure though why Beterbiev is calling Paul, do they have a beef or something in the past?

Or it is just that Beterbiev wanted to shut up the mouth of Jake Paul because he is fighting former boxers?

And it seems that Beterbiev is serious if this fight materialized, yeah, could be death wish for Jake.

If Arthur is calling Jake Paul then he is very serious about it. Everything steam from the statement of Jake Paul saying that he would rather face Beterbiev , than facing his compatriot Bivol, so Beterbiev takes this as a taunt.

But as you guys have said, this is not going to be fair, although Jake Paul can go as high as 185 lbs, just like his fight with Tommy Fury if I'm not mistaken. But still Beterbiev has the advantage in power so that will be dangerous and even Arthur says that he will beat Paul in 2 rounds via knockout.

I think it's somewhat like Khabib vs McGregor, the one is really skillful while the other is trolling, but McGregor was one of great UFC fighter at the moment.
