We will see this fight in the next couple of hours, both make the weight, Jaron Ennis is set to defend his IBF welterweight title.
David Avanesyan though is a 14:1 underdog here so expect Ennis to win and then still go after Spence or Crawford as this is still two of the biggest fight for him at 147 lbs. That is, if both of them are going to stay at that weight class, but it looks like they are not as Crawford will have a fight against Madrinov at 154 lbs.
Despite some ring rust, Ennis still dominated Avanesyan and forced his corner to stop the fight from the amount of punishment he was taking. Even if Boots had fought the original opponent, Cody Crowley, I think the outcome would have been the same. His matchmakers will have a hard time fighting an opponent who can be competitive against him. The elite names like Crawford don’t have any interest in facing him. We will have to settle for one-sided mismatches until he is given the opportunity to prove himself against the best.
And I don't think that though that he can beat either Spence or Crawford on this version of him against Avanesyan. He chooses to stay in the pocket, but if that is either Spence or Crawford, he will be hit hard and could be punished.
Obviously, he will change his style, but I don't think that he belongs to the elite though, he really need to work very hard and give us impressive wins. However, both of them might be moving to super Welterweight so I don't see him fighting either Spence or Crawford in the future.
