In my opinion, BTC will remain the leader in the market, but looking at what is happening in the market and what news appear every day, I think that ETH will be a serious competitor to it.
I prefer ethereum over bitcoin for better profits but I always back my portfolio with %25 or %30 bitcoin. This way will help eliminating potential risks. Ethereum is gonna be even bigger after huge crypto pump upcoming in 5 years (I believe).
I see no reason why should we choose just one of them at the moment. I think they both will perform very well this year and will reach new highs.

I feel like ethereum is going to do better this year. I mean it will be multiplied in price. Bitcoin will wait around 20 to 35k dollars but ethereum can easily reach 7-8k dollar in no time. Vitalik is working hard.

Diversification is the basis of any investment portfolio. It is short-sighted to refuse from bitcoin or ethereum. I keep 30% in bitcoin and 20% in the ethereum and rebalanced the portfolio, as the ethereum fell not so much as BTC.
Bitcoin s still on the top. Ethereum now is having a hard time to be on the top because bitcoin also increases as its value increases. But that what makes it a promising altcoin. It can compete for its place on the top. So either of the two coins can bring fortune and make our 2018 prosperous.
