Sorry for being lazy and not running the numbers myself (I might try do so if I don't get an answer), but has anyone checked what the long-term trend for the local boards (considering all of them) is? i.e. Do we have a tendency of people moving away from local sub-forums towards the general, English-speaking ones, or maybe it's the opposite?
I think the activity itself (i.e. number of posts or number of active users) might not be enough to tell, as the forum as a whole noted a long-term drop in activity.

There are probably a few more reasons for the drop of activity in the german section but these are some of my thoughts:
Yeah that's bascially what happened in our local too; combination of summer vacation and few (once very active) members going afk.

Since you have to wait for DdmrDdmr's merit dashboard data to compile your report, we cannot blame you for being late.
Nah, its not his fault, in 99.99% of the cases he updated Merit Dashboard in time. It is me who is slacking.  Grin

But can we expect Rikafip to pester DdmrDdmr again?
Nope. I am not as eager as I was back in 2020 when I started these overviews.

This proves that you can publish your chart in the first week of each month as soon as DdmrDdmr update his merit dashboard  Tongue
I am usually late simply because I’m lazy, but this time I couldn’t publish in the first week even if I wanted to as DdmrDdmr was a bit late with the Merit Dashboard update and I can’t make this overview without his invaluable tool.

Publishing the charts within the month is okay, I guess. Since you have to wait for DdmrDdmr's merit dashboard data to compile your report, we cannot blame you for being late. But can we expect Rikafip to pester DdmrDdmr again?  Cheesy Cheesy. If the cycle of being late continues and we depend on one another to publish our report, there will be a two-month gap. Imagine DdmrDdmr take the first two weeks to update his Dashboard, then you take another two weeks to make the chart, and then bitmover will take another two weeks to post the local board race  Grin Grin , and then I will take another two weeks to write a post here, hahaha. Please don't take it seriously, though. I hope you spent your vacation well, by the way.

I was on holiday and spend some time in other sections i my life, so i has written less as normal. I think if that is also a topic from some other core member here in germany.

Anyway, it would be interesting to hear from someone in the German local board about what led to this drop.

There are probably a few more reasons for the drop of activity in the german section but these are some of my thoughts:

- June - August is vacation time

- a few members who wrote a lot in the past left us some time ago, partly because of disputes with other participants from our local board...

And further more there is also the fact that two of our biggest merit sources have become more or less inactive lately Cry
- @qwk is online from time to time but unfortunately no longer distributes any of his Merits.
- @1miau has not been online for about 6 weeks now. Hopefully everything is fine with him and he only take a longer break!
Btw both have also written a lot of posts while they where more active Wink

As I said before these are just a few reasons that are going through my head right now.

No worries, I know a thing or two about being late.  Grin

Some specific community members already publish their community charts in the first week.
I used to be like that as well, publishing this overview as soon as possible, even pestering DdmrDdmr about when he would update the Merit Dashboard. But somewhere along the way, I started slacking and procrastinating. I plan to publish last month's overview much sooner, though. Wink

It really catches my attention not only how the Russian board continues to reign as the most active local section of the forum, but also how the german section seems to have fallen from the second place to not even being in the top three anymore, I recall a couple of years ago both the Russian and German section were pretty close to one another.
what could have happened within the Bitcoin community in Germany for them not to be as interested in participating here in the forum as they used to?  Roll Eyes
The drop in activity on the German board is noticeable, but it only takes a few core members going AFK to dramatically affect the local board. The same thing happened on my local board too, as we lost two core members in the last year or so. Anyway, it would be interesting to hear from someone in the German local board about what led to this drop.

On a different note, my local Spanish section continues to be relatively irrelevant when compared to the Russian section of the forum. It is remarkable how small we are, when there are so many people interested in Bitcoin/alternative currencies in LatinAmerica...

Glad to see there are more Nigerians participating around, by the way. At this point, I would dare to say Bitcoin has become a de facto currency of free circulation in Nigeria.

I've been traveling a lot this month (and slacking at the beginning) and just came back home yesterday.

This proves that you can publish your chart in the first week of each month as soon as DdmrDdmr update his merit dashboard  Tongue . This is not a complaint, but you usually start your post by apologizing for the delay. I don't think you should be sorry because you have been doing it for a long time, and I know you had to spend a lot of your working hours sitting in front of your computer to complete these impressive statistics. All I can do is appreciate your work.

Some specific community members already publish their community charts in the first week. But we always love to see the comparison between all the local boards to understand how we are doing. I thought only our local thread saw the activity decrease in the last months. But it seems like the situation is also almost the same in other local boards.

I've already recommended the forum to people close to me, but it's hard for them to stay here, I think they don't have the patience to read a lot of texts and they're not used to using a forum
It's hard to compete with videos that are only a few minutes long and full of visual stimulation

But in my opinion nothing is better and more organized than the forum, and we still have reliable sources

Reading takes work and forces you to use your brain more actively.  Roll Eyes

Without a doubt, this type of forum is one of the best ways to keep information organized and with reliable content about Bitcoin.

I'm also surprised to realize that on the Portuguese board we only have 30 active users, when all together (Brazil and Portugal) there are around 225 million people
I guess people from these countries are using some other platforms to talk about bitcoin and same thing can be said about other local boards like Spanish and French and then there are completely dead board from countries with big population like Chine, Japan, Korea etc.

Yes you're right
We've discussed it on our local board once, because there were times when we had even fewer active users  Tongue
The best explanation was the use of other social networks like tik tok, instagram, facebook etc

Thanks again Rikafip  Wink
I always spend some time reading the charts you make and compare them with the other months and do some analysis myself

Everyone has already talked about Nigeria, but it's amazing to notice their greater participation, not only in the forum, but in other social networks in general, I also use X a lot, and the participation of Nigerians is remarkable
Some of the crypto users I follow are Nigerian, especially in the airdrops we hunt together

I am just amazed seeing Nigerian local board and Russian competing I guess is not what I am thinking because with due time I am sure we would definitely take over them.
You are still quite far away from them and it won't be easy to catch them up or even overtake as your growth slowed down, which was of course expected. But how knows, stranger things has happened.  Wink
Hehe, we can say with time maybe before next year, just that only few of us post in the local board most people has been complaining about lack of merits so their interest is gradually declining from local board, they focused on English board to see the possible assistance for their growth since the allocated merits isn't going way far more better. The population is also increasing and nearly almost every day we do have new sign up, sometimes they are people who puts more efforts in making the board more active and lively.

Unfortunately at the local Spanish board we have had a bit of a downturn in activity over the last few months due to our most beloved bot going on holiday, or something.
Yeah we all noticed him being less active lately, and not only in the last few months but maybe even a year or so. Or at least that's how it feels as I don't see him around as much as before.

The results of the Nigerian board are pretty remarkable.
Even more remarkable, you were successful as a community without a proper board until recently.
Well done.
Kudos also to the local merit sources, who are doing good work.

Yes, you and @hugeblack also attributed to the heavy growth of Nigerian board by offering self and free review from our users, the opportunity made some of them to take their sit not untill another source was added but his allocation is very little just 100 merits per month, but still we appreciate theymos for doing that, I hope he increases both allocation to around 500 each.

Unfortunately at the local Spanish board we have had a bit of a downturn in activity over the last few months due to our most beloved bot going on holiday, or something. But fortunately his place as leader has been taken by famososMuertos, who without being a bot is doing a commendable job.

Any can take it as a vacation option though,  I assure you won't be disappointed as long as you don't come during summer  Grin Which is quite hot.

That's why Europeans only go there in the winter months in the northern region. Those who take vacations at this time, of course.

Jokes apart, the drop in local boards is quite noticeable. I am always puzzled by how the summer months in the northern hemisphere do impact the forum activity.
Of course, Spanish, Italian, and maybe French local boards can be impacted, but the others... where is everyone?

On the beaches of Portugal, Spain, Italy and Greece.  Roll Eyes
Why do you think the price of BTC has been falling? It's because people are selling to go on vacation in Europe.  Tongue

Still not getting old.
I doubt if any are going to my country Nigeria but we have quite nice places for tourism(mountains, rivers, Wild life's etc)  not to mention with all humility our diversified  culture's history are very engaging.
