What do you guys think about China urges to ban all online gambling in Philippines?. One of their reason is that "The embassy said many of the Chinese citizens working illegally in Philippine casinos or POGOs and other forms of gambling entities are subjected to what media described as modern slavery due to severe limitation of their personal freedom and also Beijing welcomed the suspension of the issuance of new licenses for Philippine offshore gaming operations (POGO).

I don't think that this is fair for Philippines.
Philippines is a free country with its own rules and regulations. And I think that the gambling industry is one of the most profitable in the country. If they ban online gambling then this will be a strong hit for their economy.

Earlier this year, I opened up this thread: Philippines' PH Resorts Group gets regulatory nod for $350 million share offerin

So it looks like Philippines is somewhat leaning on online and offline casino to bring revenues in the country. So I doubt that the government will listen to China, if Philippines wanted to stop it then they shouldn't offer gambling licenses and stop the influx of Chinese coming to the Philippines. But it's too late already, in my opinion. There is big money involved here, and I think that Duterte won't heed their call.
I read this news when you opened this thread some time ago and I was wondering why should China give that type of other to Philippines! It will be unfair if Philippine decide to ban casino and both offshore and online gambling. This is one of the biggest revenue source for Philippine and it just like asking China to stop manufacturing phones and other forms of technology because it is destroying African economies.

Oh well, many Filipinos are complaining about the influx of Chinese workers here so this call should be supported by them.

I don't think the Philippine government will take heed to the call of the Chinese government because, at this point, it's one of the country's major source of income and it needs all the funds it can get to accomplish many of its huge plans.

Aside from illegal workers,  the Chinese government probably found it disturbing also that they are missing out on the incomes generated from online casinos.

Sounds like more of a issue with embezzled funds and illegally recruited workers

China has put the care of the Philippines about the gambling life of its people. They don't want that the worst thing happen in China will not be a curse to the citizen in the Philippines being in huge debt because of gambling https://www.rappler.com/thought-leaders/238562-analysis-duterte-pogo-dilemma.

With all that matters, President Duterte will take action which is favorable to the community and not for the sake of money to be collected from the said POGO's start-up. If they agreed with the rules and policies imposed, probably they will continue to run this gambling institution.

I think the Philippines government will not take a hard action to ban all online gambling because they believe that is not all Chinese citizens who were playing gambling but every people who visited the gambling places. So it does not make sense if the Philippines government ban all online gambling because if they do that, they can lose the income from online gambling unless the online gambling is not paying the royalty or revenue to the government. But as long as online gambling still give a royalty to the government, I think the Philippines government will protect them and will provide an explanation for China government.

I don't think that the Philippines will heed to China's call to ban all online gambling because one of the main source of income came from the casinos may it be online or offline and it's very critical to have that income as the Duterte administration needed that badly to fund the build build build program.

For now, maybe they can ban all Chinese from gambling on the Philippine soil, they can come here only as tourist.

I know what is POGO's and yes many chinese works there and as of now there still contructing the area and still unfinished and they planned to build a casino . That pogos name is Island Cove and the governor who own that island sold to the chinese and allow to build casino and many Filipino complain about that. But I hope it will not affect the online gambling because of the Pogos.
