If the Chinese are so much against gambling, then they should first ban the casinos in Macau (which is officially a part of China). They can't become hypocrites by allowing gambling in some of the regions under their control and then asking for a ban on the practice in foreign nations. And it is not just Macau. Many of the countries in South-east Asia have become hotspots for Chinese gamblers.

Its nonsense to ban gambling in any case, the whole world doesnt want to be communist like they are.   The reason they have a varied policy is they collect taxes from Macau and it benefits them, the bottom line for any of their logic is will it benefit the party.    They heavily control the capital flow through Macau to try and prevent any exit from the mainland and dollars are not freely accessible.

I don't think this was a good idea from chinese government. In fact they've been doing a long time business operations here in the Philippines, so it's not a fair thing to see if they're forcing us to ban all those online gambling. There's a lot of establishment in ph whose following proper regulations imposed by current administration, and if there's a possible banning it shouldn't be a general order but it should be reviewed if all of those operations we're legally operating or not.

If you think that banning an online gambling operation was not a good idea, just think the future of those people who've been addicted by gambling. Once gambling operation will end, there's a positive impact to the society and financial troubles will be suppressed.
Most gambling operation here in ph wasn't legally operating, they're not paying taxes to the government. China's urge to ph made me think that they had serious involvement of those illegal gambling activities in Ph.

It has to think also that the Philippines government will listen to China's words towards their fellow citizens but not in a way that they could take control over their guys in the Philippines. It is the government call and to evaluate how these gambling operations run legally or illegally. I know and I believe that President Duterte doesn't tolerate any illegal actions that the people within his jurisdiction will do, either it will be a Filipino citizen or coming from the foreign country.
If it's illegal the government will make an action to that, but if not, it will continue to operate and even increase the number of gambling operators in the Philippines. Though gambling is viewed as a bad source of income from some people but we have to admit that we cannot deny this big income the POGO has bring to the Philippine government, we need to take this as an opportunity.

China and Philippines has a good relationship now, but to take away a big income which is billions of pesos, I think the Philippines would not listen to them.
The relationship does not mean that the philippines will always follow, they need to listen to each other and understands the each country's needs and wants.

What do you guys think about China urges to ban all online gambling in Philippines?. One of their reason is that "The embassy said many of the Chinese citizens working illegally in Philippine casinos or POGOs and other forms of gambling entities are subjected to what media described as modern slavery due to severe limitation of their personal freedom and also Beijing welcomed the suspension of the issuance of new licenses for Philippine offshore gaming operations (POGO).

I don't think K that Philippines will banned all online gambling since these casinos help a lot of people especially in infrastracture. They built school building. So I hope that Philippines will not close all those casinos but they should try limit things just like what you said about modern slavery.

They can suggest cooperation, I believe this is what China is asking the Philippines, its just these news writer are exaggerating facts and using more stimulating words for their readers to react.
Even so, they should know what will be the effects of it to the Philippine Government, the fact that these Casinos are one of the big payers of taxes, we already have a good reason why it shouldn't be accepted...

Moreover the Chinese Government should eradicate their issues by stopping their own men to live outside their country, but I doubt it will happen. Philippines is already an open country so the foreign countries will be the one who should first make a move regarding to their own people.

Of course, China has hidden agenda behind this statement. I guess Philippines government will not agree and will not accept the intervention of China with regards to handling business like online casinos in their own country.

Well, I believe China should tighten their security regarding their citizen leaving their country.  As far as I know these online gambling are owned by Chinese nationals, It wasn't the government that inspire this kind of so called slavery, though I have to agree that the Philippines should shutdown any illegal gambling operations and also, should tighten the security on those chinese nationals that are entering the country.

Just seen this news, never thought that I've been on a vacation for too long and missed out this kind of news. Why does it seems like China is ordering the Philippine Government? This is absurd if you'll ask me, beside after that Island issue here on the Phillipines now they're urging us to get rid of those Casinos?
That's what I really don't like about them ordering Philippines to do what they want. They should be more responsible with their fellow citizens if they don't want any chinese people that will be involve in illegal business and doings. If they really want to do it then it's better that they'll do it in their country and leave Philippines out of it.
Indeed, and besides this is our nation they don't have any rights to say what we must do here. Its our own issue so they'd better stay out of it even if they say that it is their own fellow chinese, the fact that their butts are here in the Philippines they can't possibly do anything about it.

I really do hate countries like that, do they really think they're superior? If it is then these Chinese are good as shits.

Nah! Get used to it and you should expect it from super nations to behave like this one excluding on others but China been known to be like that
where they do abuse up their power to puny down those small nations in the globe yet they do know on whats their capability but
i agree on the point you had said that each country do have its own laws and jurisdiction on their own and it isnt right to get mandated according to their likes.

The gambling industry is a humongous industry and the best these guys can do is bring this under some control in their justificationto avoid gambling addiction and not going all out to ban this all together out of their control.

Besides Chinese casinos are now finding themselves all around the world which says something about the industry and how the are benefiting from it.

^ Nah, they won't. Country of the Philippines can stand by their own feet and no one dictates by them. After having trouble on Island that the Chinese ship vessel sinks the Philippines vessel I don't know if they will agree regarding on closing online casino just for their own sake. Online gambling casino gives a good revenue in the country of the Philippines and I think this could help the economic growth.

Fuck those Chinese.

We've been on that kind of nature for a long time so quitting would be not an option. Not only the government does getting the benefits from it many citizens are also making a living with these casinos.

...soon we will see more Chinatowns in the Philippines.

That was a pretty shitty move for them to slowly conquer us again. If that happens, our countrymen will not accept that having so many places for the chinese shits.

I read that it contributed to the local economy of the region where they operate, so I doubt if the Philippine government will comply, the Philippines has become the biggest destination of these Chinese imagine they also take up jobs as construction workers, soon we will see more Chinatowns in the Philippines.

Correct, Online gambling contributes P551 billion to Philippine economy yearly.

So it does make sense that the Philippine government will continue to operate gambling as part of a revenue generated program for them.

They could cooperate hunting down illegal online casino's though operated by the Chinese in the Philippines, like this one, Bitcoin Pishing Scam Goes Wrong.

If they have to stop gambling, they should stop the local lottery as this affects the life of the Filipino, especially the poor ones.
With POGO, Philippines just become a gambling hub as Filipinos are not allowed to gamble, so it's a great source of income without destroying the life of the poor gamblers.

Philippine Lottery has been here fore decades of more, the governments needs to study the effect of that lottery to the majority of the bettors, if it has a bad effect, they ban it and focus on growing the POGO as it brings more money to the government.

The Philippines President has already provided the Chinese government his response to the calm that their country rules and regulations about gambling are not accept in the Philippines. Mind you, their government are getting enough fund from the tax paid by the gambling company and I don't know why the Chinese government cant accepts gambling which was one of the best passive income for a country like Curacao.
