Well.. I am not against that strategy. But Australia is a small country and the total population is around 1/10th of that of some of the Indian or Pakistani provinces. In order for the BBL to become financially viable, they need to attract viewership from South Asia. Indian players are banned from taking part in the BBL, so that option is tricky. But they gained a lot of viewership in Pakistan, because a number of Pak players are representing various BBL sides. A compromise can be reached, and I guess 3 is a more suitable limit instead of the current two.

Indian players are banned to take part in any league not only in BBL, this is only BCCI arrogance nothing else. Those players who can't play IPL must be allowed to go out and play other leagues to earn money.
Unmukt Chand became first indian to take part in BBL. He signs for the Melbourne Renegades. May be we see more Indian players joining BBL.

But I think that BBL has made the restrictions about overseas players for only two because they want players from Australia to get more chances to prove themselves. If there are more overseas players, sometimes the local players' performance can be overshadowed by the well-known overseas players. So, it is a good decision in my opinion. But the salary cap is obviously low.

I was not looking for comparison of PSL and IPL since I already knew that IPL is way ahead of all leagues since they pay heavily to everyone involved in the league. What I inferred is that BBL is at no second followed by PSL and BPL. BBl is not even played by Aussies players, you can easily see the popularity of this league in Australia.
Are you saying Big Bash League is the second biggest league cricket, if so that is a fact. You cannot compare IPL to any other league but when it comes to revenue and viewership Big Bash League is second and then Caribbean Premier League, T20 Blast League is also catching up and then comes PSL, but i tried to check all of their revenue streams but could not find any authentic ones.

Their governments should be blamed for this. So many international players are preferring the IPL over their own country leagues primarily because their governments aren't taking care of them properly.

I have a different oponion on this. Its the government that groom the player before it makes it way to the national squad and from there its picked by IPL. Can you name any single oversea player that is playing IPL and hasn't represented its national team? There is none such player. If quality of cricket keep on going like that we wont see IPL players coming out from Westindies, Sri lanka and Zim

But afraid picture is quite different like you mentioned, every respective league is based on private investment and motivated by revenues only. In competitive market if you're not fit or your product is incapable to adapt then you're destined to fail as it should be.
Yeah. BCCI did a great job with most IPL seasons so far and this most probably won't change in the future which is why many other Cricket boards should focus on learning from their successful strategies in order to improve.

But we have to admit that quality of cricket is going down in most of teams as evident from performance of West Indies, South Africa and Zimbabwe. They were once considered to be strong or reasonably strong teams.

Well we can blame government for this totally. Players get good money in IPL because there is a lot of investement in cricket in india.BCCI is rich and earning good money.
But this is not the situation with boards like west indies. They dont have that much money to pay thier players more than IPL.

In terms of entertainment value, I rank BBL as the second best franchise T20 league, behind the IPL. But the issue with BBL is that many of the Australian players have pulled out of the league because of low salaries. The BBL salary cap is too low, when compared to the other leagues. On top of that they have a limit of just two overseas players, which somehow limits the viewership outside Australia. All that said, I can't deny the fact that BBL maintains exceptional quality and have made a lot of contribution to the women's game (through the WBBL).

AFAIK only England and Australia are focusing on woman cricket other then that no board is interested in woman's cricket not even the money rich BCCI. What else to talk about other boards. In men's BBL, players from Aus national team are not seen as they are busy playing bilateral series. BBL provides a good opportunity for domestic players of Aus to play at such high level.

Money is always going to be a big factor for the cricket boards. But right now it seems like money is more important than cricket to the boards.  Undecided

I mean it's okay to chase money, but the obvious greed brings downfall. And the cricket boards all around the world are either reach or absolutely broke. BCCA does make money quite well but they also find young talent through IPL too.

Money was not very much into cricket since 2010 I would say but we have quality teams. Its IPL that completely changed the dynamic of cricket by bringing in huge money. But we have to admit that quality of cricket is going down in most of teams as evident from performance of West Indies, South Africa and Zimbabwe. They were once considered to be strong or reasonably strong teams.

Because, this healthy competition is very important for them and all cricket community. Right now we have IPL, PSL and Vitality Blast these are doing much better, but now few are having issues which need to settle before we are late and these disappear from sight, and we lost some good cricket from many players.
I understand your perspective which is morally correct, but you need to understand the fact that reality is something else entirely. No board gives a crap about how their decisions will impact other boards since money is all that matters to them.
This logic applied to every single Cricket board out there(Not just BCCI) and it makes sense to be honest since it's the survival of the fittest overall.

The salaries as well as the franchise costs differ much between the two leagues. For the upcoming IPL season two franchise has been sold last year. The two franchises Lucknow and Ahmedabad were bought for $1.69 billion, whereas the highest paid franchise of PSL league is $6.35 million for seven years of agreement which was done during the year 2018. Maybe after years the cost could increase much during the next auction for franchise.

IPL money is way more then ICC income and there is no comparison of IPL with other leagues. Due to this supremacy BCCI is dictating its own rules like no Indian player will play in other leagues, Pakistani players will not be part of IPL and so on. If there were leagues at the level of IPL we will have a healthy competition not one man show.

How good is PSL in terms of paying money to players? Can you share some stats of that. I though BBL is second big league after IPL but players are pulling out from BBL because of money issues. I think majority of boards except PCB are relying on IPL and are not focusing on there own leagues. If IPL is giving you huge money then why focus on own league?
From what I could see, the PSL salaries are around 8% to 10% of that in the IPL. For example, the highest paid players (Colin Munro, Chris Jordan and Asif Ali) are being paid $170,000 per year. And in IPL, the highest paid player as of now is KL Rahul with an annual contract of $2,280,000. You can't even compare IPL salaries with that from the other leagues. It's like a David vs Goliath battle. The highest paid player in BBL receives $258,900 per year and the same for CPL and BPL is $160,000 and $150,000 respectively. The Hundred is also having a similar salary structure.

yes, kinda low money for quality players...
Well, obviously the money is going to differ because more viewers, and you know more revenue mean more money and more salary for the players.
So, I will have a really big fan base and far bigger compared to PSL. The money is generated less so the players are getting paid less that's as easy as that.

Lahore, 9 February 2022:
The Pakistan Cricket Board in collaboration with Pepsi has launched an exciting initiative to search for new cricket commentators for the Pepsi presents Voice of Pakistan Cricket 2022 campaign during the ongoing HBL PSL 7.

The digital campaign starts today, cricket commentary enthusiasts who aspire to pursue a career in this exciting field can participate by submitting their entries through video recordings of their commentary.

It seems PCB wants to attract fans who are big enthusiasts to be a cricket commentator for Voice of Pakistan Cricket 2022. You can read for more on that website and I wonder, is anyone here interested in participating? Usually, people who have many experiences in a game will follow or participate in any events.

No doubt IPL is richest, and they could be more in near future as they are doing their homework with the help of ICC, but if they do some better favour for few other small boards surely this could be good for these boards and players because recently we have few players pull out from CPL, BBL and BPL due to salary issues and if this case continue then surely we will watch few leagues will die before having any good peak for themselves so it is good time for give them support.
