Players getting paid is going to be a worry for many sports associations around the world including cricket players. The England Cricket Board is going to have some big problems in coming days and the same with the Australian Cricket Board. Like I have mentioned in other sports threads, the economy is going to play a big part in all sports after this virus is over, that's what we all should be worried about right now as we may see some sports teams never return after this, remember that money runs all the sports around the world and this has taken a big hit for many sports associations so we could see some not return.

Well... why should the sports players be given special treatment? Here in India, many of the states have asked the government employees to forfeit one month's salary. With the economy in deathbed, there is no other option. Private companies are laying off excess staff and millions are without a job now. I don't think that cricket players can be immune to all this. They need to forfeit some of their earnings.

I am not sure how this can be done in India. People in my country are given the option to send few days salary to the coronavirus fund and not all of the salary is detected without permission. Since players have an yearly contract, so they will be paid what is in the contract, regardless of whether they have matches to play or not.

As we’re discussing about wages I would like to bring to your attention that many big stars including Ronaldo have had to take a pay cut due to this virus, and I believe that even big cricket stars will be forced to take a pay cut soon. Now this sounds easy on paper but in reality it’s complicated, as the board will have to decide whether there’s a blanket cut for all or not, and further they’ll also have to work with the players to reach a common ground over the pay cut which will take time.

But BCCI is not facing any problem as they are one of most richest Cricket Board in world and they have much funds for paying all for some long time without any problem on other hand many Government and Private companies have nothing option like this so they have to do things like this we are also facing many serious troubles as Ramadan and Eid is coming and peoples are worrying about this all kids are also not happy with this all.

Well... I agree with you on the BCCI. As per the official information, only 26% of the revenues in BCCI are distributed towards the players. So what happens to the remaining 74%? A part is being used for building new stadiums and other facilities, but I suspect that the vast majority is being used for "administrative costs". And that is one of the reasons why we have so many businessmen in BCCI board.

The Australia v New Zealand match still went ahead but with no fans in the stadium which was a different experience when watching it on TV. I actually found the match a little boring with out the crowd, its just not the same. It must be an experience for the players as well as there is no crowd to get behind the teams. Australia ended up winning the match easily in the end as New Zealand didn't really offer much. It looks like the series will continue even though almost all other sports have been cancelled around the world, even the SA and India ODI series has been cancelled. This could last many months unless the corona virus is under control.

In countries where not enough precautions were taken, the virus has spread at a startling rate. So I would agree with the decision by various cricket boards to cancel bilateral series and other tournaments. For now, the BCCI has postponed the IPL by two weeks. To be honest, I don't think that this is enough. They need to postpone it by at least 6 months, as there is hardly any chance that the situation will get contained in two weeks.
Most chances now we will not able to have complete season for many games as in Europe most of countries now calculating how to set things as they have no enough time for postponed games just like this IPL is mega event and just postponed is not enough because after six months we have packed cricket England is due in India so this is very bad situation.

Forget about sports for the next to three months. I doubt whether Oympics will also happen. The damm virus has just started spreading to every corner of this earth and most countries are helpless in containing it.

Europe which is far much superior medically to rest of the world is now the new epic center for this virus. Asia has just started, how many more people will die because of this virus god only knows.

@vella85 I was really surprised to see that the match wasn’t canceled, and in my personal opinion they should have canceled this match first and then the series as players safety is also important. @vishu.reang well we all know that BCCI loves to make money and IPL is it’s biggest event where they’ll earn lots of money so I was not surprised to know that they yet haven’t canceled it, but given how rapidly the virus is spreading maybe they’ll be forced to cancel it in the end.

You are absolutely correct I also did not expect the South Africans to dominate the ODI series. Disgusting performance by the Australian team. This series was exactly similar to the India vs Newzealand series. I am not sure what exactly went wrong with both the losing team as on papers they are far better than the rivals.

Australia performs better in the test format than in any other format. Their best player (Steve Smith) is more suited to test format, and the same can be said about some of their other players such as Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc as well. But let's not forget the fact that before the ODI series, the Australians won the T20 series against the same opponents in a very convincing manner.

Its been a good fight back from SA to win the ODI series after a poor performance in the T20 series. I am a little surprised at how SA have bounced back especially in the ODI series after they had a poor World Cup.
It was a surprise for everyone as i did not expect South Africa to dominate the ODI series, it was similar to the recent India and New Zealand series where India dominated the T20 series but then New Zealand came back and dominated the rest and now South Africa and India will be playing and the first ODI starts today.

We got two big ODI games coming up starting later today between SA and India which will hopefully be a great series as SA just knocked off Australia and India will be wanting to bounce back after a poor test series in New Zealand. The tomorrow we have Australia v New Zealand which should be another good series as Australia is back at home however they are coming off a poor ODI series against SA so they will be looking to bounce back while New Zealand are coming off a great test series win over India so both series are going to be interesting to watch.

The ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2020 is coming to an end. The final will be played between India and Australia tomorrow (12:30 pm IST). Ellyse Perry's absence due to a hamstring injury is going to severely cripple Australia, as she has been their best player for almost a decade now. Without Perry, it will be difficult for the Australian bowlers to contain Shafali Verma, Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana.

Anti-climax at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup. The semi-final between England and India got washed away and India qualified for the finals thanks to their stellar performance in the group stage. The final of the 2019 CWC came to my mind. England won the finals, after the score got tied back then. But they were unlucky this time around.

BTW, Australia won the other semi-final, which was also affected by rain. So the final match will be played between Australia and India.

The final is going to be exciting. The Indian team looks the most balanced with the performance in the tournament and they have already won over Australia once.
But with current weather conditions, a D/L setting can come in favor of any team on any period of time. The chasing team would have a better chance of getting easier target so it would also depend on the toss.
The ICC has to find an alternative for DL method . I have been a follower of cricket for many years and I have seen manyexperts as well as commentators saying they don't understand how it works . I too to be honest don't understand it. Although it's far better than other methods we have , I think it's time we bring in a new system for these situations.
As far as finals is concerned , I am rooting for Indian team as they clearly deserve to win this tournament.
