Greetings everyone and happy new year all!

Okay, today I was actually out for a little business and it happens that I almost spent all my time wasted without me even having a smooth deal, but along the line I have few games that I have placed a bet and was wanting to view my games from my phone since gambling is now mobile, what I meant by mobile is that you can access your account at any place provided that you have an internet connectivity you will login to monitor your matches.

So when I logged in, someone close to me easily peep from my left hand side and noticed that I just opened my account monitoring my games, at this point what he said is "ahh you don join dem"? Meaning you have also belong to the groups of people that gambles?

On a lighter note, I just smile and asked him if there is anything wrong while gambling or while monitoring my games and he said nothing but just that few people he knew that are gambling almost turned useless.

This now triggered me to come ask here whether you cares about what people says or sees you as when gambling, I know there are people who don't know you from time or who doesn't believe that you are a gambler and if it happens that you came across such people and their reaction towards you goes other way round would you care about it or you just totally ignore them?

Let's discuss amicably
To me in as much as you not giving me money to feeding I don't think I will care about what you think of me. The most useless man now is the man who is broke and cannot cater for his needs. We see alot of people in our society today who do even worst and are even proud of it, Yahoo(internet fraud) looks like a legitimate thing in our society today. I just think it depends on how you appear when you gamble, I mean if you look tatared and go to a bet shop or betting on your phone and some one see you gambling they will eventually see you as a useless person but when you look good, neat, well fed they won't see you as a useless person because your appearance is already speaking for you.

So to me in as much as you know you are not useless and gambling is not making you useless they I don't think you should care about what anybody think of you. Besides today in my country I can say over 70% of both youth and semi elderly people are into gambling, both men and woman, workers and Unemployed people are into gambling.

It's good that you are not influenced by the opinions of others and you do not borrow money, but I think that any player is treated as a potential person who can ask for money in the future, even under a false pretext. The acquaintances around you think so because you are not like that, but because they have heard different stories from other families and acquaintances about how their brother or son began to borrow money under fictitious pretexts in order to continue playing. Of course, there were stories about how they still have not repaid these debts, that's why people immediately think that those who are into gambling will sooner or later ask for money in debt.

This is why if you are into gambling and you don't want your family to worry about you, better keep it to yourself but contain your gambling habits. If you are just using your spare money and not resorting to borrowing from anyone else, you won't have any problem. And that means, if you can control yourself, other people won't know your gambling activities.

The idea of hiding yah gambling habit from your love ones is not a bad idea, because not all love ones will support such act , due to the fear of you getting addicted to it , and we know that once you addicted to gambling, you will attract alot of negative part of gambling, and some folks may endup ruining their lives in the process.

But there are some scenario whereby some folks need the support of their love ones to overcome gambling addiction or ti break free from it , so they would try to get all the help they can especially when the addiction have gotten to a point of ruining ones lives .

I don't know how you are social, but I suggest that you don't care too much about what other people say, because there may be people who want to provide input to your gambling so that you are much better in gambling, but this returns to yourself and who people who gave that talk.
The experience that I experienced was, do not too ignore other people about gambling that we do, because sometimes we become selfish with something wrong even though other people want to remind it for us so that we are much better, I hope you remember it.
When one gambles, he gambles entirely at his own risk, which makes it entirely his personal matter. I don't care for it most of the time Who cares about my gambling? Because this is completely my own personal matter. Some use gambling for fun and some use it as a source of income.I support both. But sometimes it's worth caring who says what about your gambling . Because sometimes when you become more addicted to gambling you don't realize its negative aspects. At that time you can find your mistake from other's opinion
Yes so don't be too ignorant of what others want to tell us, what I mean is listen first before turning a deaf ear when they want to talk, whether it's from family, friends and so on, it's true that gambling is a person's personal problem and it is our own freedom to use gambling because it is our right as a gambler, But don't lose other people who want to make us better at managing ourselves in gambling, because it's true as you said that sometimes we don't understand our own situation in gambling whether we are excessively addicted or not, that judgment will be realized by others first if we can't realize it.

Gambling in my area is legalized but prohibited for an under 18 years person, on this note I don't really care about what people are saying about me gambling, though I used to before but not anymore because am bold and strong enough to take responsibilities for my actions perhaps i only gambling within my risk tolerance level, i gamble with my personal money, i don't borrow to gamble, so there is no way it is affecting the life of those around me, but yeah people are only concerned about what will happen to you if addiction sets in based what they might have seen from an addicted gambler forgetting that there are also those doing it without being addicted.

Its true about gamblers having a stereotype of always asking for money.  But you know, thats not really fair to say about all of them.  Ive got some buddies who love to hit the tables on the weekends and they never ask me for a cent and  the way I see it, any hobby can get out of control for some folks - even things like drinking or getting into other bad habits.  And when it does, those people sometimes end up asking their friends for money or help.

But Ill admit if you know someone has a gambling problem and they ask to borrow money, you cant help but wonder if they will just gamble it away.  So I get why people are wary of lending to them.  Still, seems better to judge each person as an individual case rather than assume the worst of an entire group off the bat.

In as much every man to himself thus I don't care what people would say after knowing that I am into gambling, I remembered my financial trying times when nobody came to help me, thereafter having some relief through gambling then someone would now come and discourage me from gambling thus I don't feel sad afterall most of my colleagues are into soccer gambling so even if an outsider tried to discourage me I knew gambling colleagues would definitely rebuke him, however I only gamble with the amount of money I can afford to lose, so I wouldn't get  offended by whosoever peeps through my gambling activities.

It's a strange topic to discuss. I am not at all interested in the opinions of outsiders, not only about gambling, but about any aspect of my own life that outsiders undertake to make judgments about. The tendency to gossip and condemn is very common. This is probably the subconscious desire of some people to find flaws in other people in order to justify their own vices. So I don't think you should worry about the opinions of outsiders. But the opinion of your loved ones is a completely different matter. That's what's important.

It is better to have less interactions with people. Some people say some stuff just to manipulate other people and that’s a very common thing nowadays. Advertisers do that all the time and now other people also do that because they noticed it is damn easy to manipulate people. So when I listen to a person, sometimes I can’t really guess his real intentions. When that’s the case, it is better to ignore whatever that person is saying. If you don’t listen, you can’t get manipulated. Sometimes not being social pays.

I have seen people getting manipulated by their family members too btw. They are not always the angels :/

In other words, you are interested in whether other gamblers are embarrassed about their passion for gambling, right?

As long as the gambler is lucky and manages to win, he has no reason to worry about the opinion of others about him, on the contrary, others will envy him. But as soon as the streak of luck ends, the opposite effect appears: condemnation, reproach and reproach appear in the eyes of others.

In fact, the gambler should learn to abstract from the surrounding "noise" so that it doesn't interfere with the game process. And the best thing is to gamble alone without unnecessary attention from others and the problem with "what people says or sees you as when gambling" disappears by itself. Smiley
Passion for strange things makes us become eccentric in the eyes of many people, especially these people become bees, flies, constantly prying and pointing, even causing trouble to our daily habits, instead of saying that the spread of gambling habits is embarrassing, we should admit that this disclosure is more annoying because the outsider's perspective is too different from this passion. Ignoring others can't defeat one's curiosity, a part of habit and privacy should become a secret, even if close, there will be moments of saying the wrong thing and creating more trouble.
Totally depends on what kind of personality that you do have on which there would really be those individuals who would really be just dont care on whatever other people would be saying against them or the things that they've been doing. As long they would really be that happy or would really be that enjoying on what they do then they dont just care on whatever the things that other people would really be saying on which i could say that it is really just that really fine that you should do on what makes you happy even if it means on dealing up with gambling. It is really just that normal that the community will really be having that kind of bad views and insights towards gambling on which this could really be making up someone on getting addicted and mess up someones life and thats why the community will really be having that kind of negative views. If they have seen someone that deals up with it then it would really be automatically be attached into those bad impressions towards you.

I, on the other hand, do not tell anyone that I gamble at the casino online. Then what does it matter to others if someone plays gambling, they can be warned but it is the scope of the decision that is not right. Because it is really our choice to play at the casino.

Now, if it's really me, I'll take my gambling to myself, instead of telling or telling others, at least they won't say anything to me because they don't know that I gamble.

I don't spread the words about my gambling practice over the street but if I did this I would not care about  strangers' wording relevant to my passion. However I care about this in my close circuit (like close relatives,  family and friends). Probably I'm lucky one , because in this circuit I am not meeting difficulties to discuss this soft spot in my life which makes me feel that I'm not on a wrong track.

Most of the comments I have red so far are mostly saying they don't care about what people do say about their gambling habits and for awhile I feel for some of them it's because they have not really been in a position where they had to face intensed criticism and some important persons in their lives who they really care about is yet to make a comment in that regards, the main question comes after these set of persons express some concerns, let's see if you really wouldn't care.

Indeed, if the criticism comes from important people in our lives, it's a different story. If we continue to ignore harsh criticism from people who matter to us, then the problem is clearly with us, not them.

Also, I find it confusing that most people say they don't care what other people say about their gambling habits or what's going on in their lives, but they are the ones who love to give advice to others. Many people even criticize harshly when others do not think the same way they do. It is unfair when we ignore other people's advice but always want to impose our thoughts on others.

If you want others to respect you, you must first respect them, we should not be so selfish as to only want others to follow our own will.

Let's discuss amicably

If you care about what people say as pertaining what you do you'll end up with their own decisions but in the aspects of gambling I would say when people's opinions should matter to you will be when your gambling habits is getting out of hand and then someone had to come in to say hey this way you're going isn't good and profitable so back off, when this is the subject of the day should be when you follow suits, I know of a truth some don't like anyone saying or contributing to anything that pertains them gambling but for me I don't care what people say cause I act responsibly with my gambling habits.
I love this response, it's 100% in line with my philosophy of life. If you fall/fail today, it's people who will mock you regardless of whether or not you follow their advice, so why not just live your life and be proud of yourself for what you are living all by yourself? Caring too much about how people feel about you or what they will say will make you make mistakes and want to always be conscious, so where is the self-respect and confidence? The only consideration here is for me to live a good life, a life that is worthy of emulation and respect. Doing things responsibly is always the way out here, especially if it's a risky activity like gambling.
