Respecting each other is something we must do, that's why I say to accept other people's words if they are indeed directed at advice, because advice, even though it doesn't have a big influence, at least there is good intention from other people that is shown to us, so it is not natural for us to deny the advice.

Totally agree with you, yes, our fellow friends must respect each other or from the opinions of people around us about the gambling that we do at least by listening to advice from others it prevents the emergence of problems, namely disputes between kinship relationships. It is also true that advice will not necessarily have a good impact on our lives, but with this advice we can conclude that there are still people who care by giving attention in the form of advice and suggestions to us in gambling so as not to bring problems in the future and consider advice from others something good so that we can control ourselves in playing gambling that we are doing.

In general, why do people care so much about other opinion? I mean, should I be shy or ashamed that I gamble? As a grown up person, why would «what others think about me» should have any value? As it is legal, I fit in age category to be able to gamble, I dont make any harm, why I should bother what others say? Even if they say bad things about me, this doubtfully going to affect me. I only hear parents saying to their kids «behave, or people will think that you are unmannered». That is probably one of rarest moments when a person should pay attention and make conclusion to what people say. But we are not kids anymore.
I almost agreed with everything you said but then something also made sense when we think about what others would say. Our kids. It will reflect on them when others do see and witness what a father is doing, gambling, or other bad habits. It's not just about us as a single person anymore because we made a family and that means as much as possible you keep it all clean so that they won't be haunted by your past in the future.

But I will have to agree with everything you said back when I was single. I don't really care much about what other people will say about me because I am old enough to make a decision by myself. It makes a difference when one becomes married and a father.

If people ask me to quit gambling for good then I certainly respect their gambling comments. People think of gambling differently depending on the place. In those countries where gambling is not allowed but gamblers cannot gamble openly or if someone gambles and the people of that area know about it then the gambler is looked down upon. There are some gamblers who are indifferent to family and they borrow money and sell their land to gamble only but they are harmful to any family. And when people talk about them, we must understand that people are saying the right thing. I only know that I gamble because I don't want people to say anything negative about me. Why should I be bad in the eyes of others where the money is mine and the risk of money is my own? But those who are excessively addicted to gambling and those who have lost everything due to gambling must return to the right path.

There is some truth in what you said, where we ourselves are responsible for our families, not other people, but at least if there is constructive criticism, it is not wrong for us to listen to it, for matters of implementing it, that is a secondary matter in my opinion, at least we respect the person we are talking to as long as he does not corner us at the lowest point in a situation
But if we have been able to apply good approach and are able to gamble wisely but there are still other people who talk or think badly about the gambling activities we do, can it be called constructive criticism, we have been able to get past all that and criticism is not needed here.
In reality, everything that will be talked about is about bad things and we cannot just consider all of that as something easy to accept, it is better not to care and not to listen.

Never had much thought about it. Gambling to some degree is accepted as a normal male behaviour here but my friends and family have not much idea to what extent I gamble. I am willing to keep it a secret as it might hurt them or it might make me answer questions and bring in uncomfortable circumstances. It's not that they'll make me leave gambling or even I'd obey what they say as I'm a financially independent person myself but I don't want to be known as a gambler. So, I do care even though my gambling wins or loss don't have any significant effect on others. I'd still like to keep this side of my life secret.

It usually depends on the area you live in and how people think about gambling. If the majority of the people gamble and gambling is a popular activity and it is legal too, then you won't see people discouraging you from gambling. But if you are in a place where gambling is not considered good, and if more people know that you are gambling they may think you are wrong or they may try to stop you or think that you are involved in bad habits.

Once there was a person who i know used to say bad words to the people who gamble but later I came to know he is a gambler himself. How strange  Cheesy

It's not anyone's business whether you gamble or not, unless you have a family and you have to feed your kids and care about them in many other ways, like buying books for them, smartphones and stuff. First provide them with everything they need and only then you can gamble because it is likely that you will lose money and losing to gambling is not a good excuse for not buying for your kids what they need.

Basically I gamble using my own money and also with the disciplinary limits that have been set, it makes me fine even though I like to gamble. Occasionally I often get advice, of course if what other people say about the gambling we do leads to advice, then it is better for us to accept it well and thank them for reminding us to stay in good self-control. However, if someone criticizes my gambling activities, I don't listen because I think the gambling I do does not cause other people to suffer losses.

Respecting each other is something we must do, that's why I say to accept other people's words if they are indeed directed at advice, because advice, even though it doesn't have a big influence, at least there is good intention from other people that is shown to us, so it is not natural for us to deny the advice.

I have exactly the same situation, only close friends and colleagues know. I don’t talk about it with my relatives and have never discussed it with them because they are quite conservative and rarely accept anything new, especially something that they don’t want to understand and delve into the essence of gambling and its principles. They are convinced that it is bad in any form and I respect their position and do not impose mine and do not plan to convince them otherwise.
Could definitely say that im a type of person who doesnt really like on sharing up on whatever things that i do deal on with. Doesnt matter whether its a hobby or activity or any secrets or information on which i dont really like to share up or simply a kind of person whose really that an introvert and i do really want to solo things and will really be that keep it on my own. In regarding about gambling thing then there's no one neither my wife or close friends or even my family do really knows that im doing gambling. Why? i dont really like for them to say something on what im really that dealing on with. There would really be those times or moments that you might really be having that kind of conflicts because of possible argumentation or gossips about you on which you might be able to hear from other people. Its not really that shocking that people will really be always has something to say when it comes on dealing up with gambling. Actually i dont really care on whatever they would really be telling because its my money after all and its not theirs. I dont really care much on whatever the things i do get involved with as long i dont really bother or making affect into other people and also my priorities then i would really be just that fine. Make yourself that responsible on whatever you do t hen you will really be just that fine
and better not to make yourself having that kind too sensitive on whatever says or things you might hear outside in regarding on what you are really that doing.

People tend to judge, this applies not only to gambling, you shouldn't pay too much attention to it. And of course the best way to avoid this is not to tell anyone about it. You can't hide it from family members, but I don't see the point in this and I think that in the family we should share everything, there should be no secrets, and as for friends or relatives, this can be shared in case of common interests, if someone is also into this and has shared it with you before.

This brings about me talking about the differences in the environment where you live. Some environments see gambling as a normal game to play and have completely normalize almost all forms of gambling within the streets while other environments might have a partial level of accepting it or not. For example, some environments tend to accept one form of gambling than the other while some environments have banned public practice of gambling and in such case, gambling is considered a sin, even if it's minor, as they see it as a potential factor that can cause  conflict between two individuals who are involved in the practice. So, to a large extent, when you talk generally, you may say, it all depends on the way in which your environment perceives gambling.

In the Real sense, the responsibility of any responsible man is to ensure the proper taking care of the family before anything else, the wife, the kids and any other family matters has to be considered first before gambling or the money to sort those bills out shouldn't be used for gambling but after doing that, the man can gamble for all he likes since the family will not be in need of anything he can't provide.
A gambler is prepared for the best and the worst so I think before going to gamble once is prepared to face whatever outcome he gets.

That is very true, a person who is a head of a family cannot afford to try to gamble and make money at the expense of money that is practically already committed to the family, above all there must be that responsibility, sometimes the money for the family goes and there is nothing left for you as the head of the family, and that is something that is worth it , now I think that the only option to get something like that to play is with little money, at least with 10usd you can play well and have fun for a while, so as not to lose the habit.

On one hand I dont give much attention or other peoples opinion about me gambling would make an effect on my. On the other hand I have realized, that I have never given others opportunity to say something bad about the fact that I gamble or how I spend my money. I dont recall that someone has said that I am doing something wrong with my money, nor I dont recall someone complained or said something about gambling. Even though people have vision that gambling is something bad, I dont recall anyone who surrounds me saying anything negative about my or someone else we are familiar with gambling activity. Long story short, people complain, but complain in general and rarely go personal.

The gambling was played with the own desire,we don’t know when we get money from the gambling. But the gamblers should not get addicted because of the gambling loss. The gamblers who play the gambling to get back their loss will loss their funds all the time.So don’t play the game on reverse psychology, just play for the entertainment in the gambling.Gambling had both good and bad effects, but use the gambling to gain entertainment. Most of the gamblers try to get money from the gambling play, but if you try to play for the money. You will take many risk in gambling site.So don’t play gambling with random betting, play the gambling with some tactics.

Greetings everyone and happy new year all!

Okay, today I was actually out for a little business and it happens that I almost spent all my time wasted without me even having a smooth deal, but along the line I have few games that I have placed a bet and was wanting to view my games from my phone since gambling is now mobile, what I meant by mobile is that you can access your account at any place provided that you have an internet connectivity you will login to monitor your matches.

So when I logged in, someone close to me easily peep from my left hand side and noticed that I just opened my account monitoring my games, at this point what he said is "ahh you don join dem"? Meaning you have also belong to the groups of people that gambles?

On a lighter note, I just smile and asked him if there is anything wrong while gambling or while monitoring my games and he said nothing but just that few people he knew that are gambling almost turned useless.

This now triggered me to come ask here whether you cares about what people says or sees you as when gambling, I know there are people who don't know you from time or who doesn't believe that you are a gambler and if it happens that you came across such people and their reaction towards you goes other way round would you care about it or you just totally ignore them?

Let's discuss amicably

As long as you are not harming anyone else, then you can ignore other peoples opinions about you most of the time. There are a lot of people who come up with a lot of crazy views in the world and if you were to try to appease every single one of them you would never get anywhere in life. I understand if some people have firm views on gambling because they have been personally impacted by the effects, but have no time for people who blindly follow things like religious text that wish to ban it, because I've often found them to be the biggest hypocrites in all sorts of areas of life. If you live in a country where it is legal then you should have no shame in choosing to gamble.
As long you arent harming someone
As long you do able to do your responsibility
As long you do still have that control towards finances or simply having that gambling budget

Then you are really that still that fine for you to gamble. It is really just that there would really be those individuals who do excessively trying out to gamble because of those wrong
hopes and belief that they could be able to make money with it or wont really be facing up any issues. You are the ones who would really be that making your own fate on which if you do
find yourself that engaging too much on which on the sense that you are spending up like a mad man and messed up your life because of gambling then there's no one that you would
be able to get blamed but rather only yourself.

When it comes into this situation then it will really be that understandable that effects will really be basing up on the things that you have done.
If you have done something stupid then you do know on what are the things that will be mainly be affected.

Nope dont care in the slightest - its easy for me to say that because I know I dont
have an addiction so whatever people say I know more than they do about my
gambling habits.

I can imagine if someone has a problem and someone else points to that It could
touch a nerve so to speak. As a saying goes "the truth can hurt sometimes"

Its also important to realise those who comment on your gambling habits will
most likely be concerned for you and probably assume you have a problem when
in fact you may not.

indirectly he advised us not to gamble, if I were in your position I would ignore that person at that time, because we personally know how to gamble, I would not be offended I would throw him a smile
